Ankou

Ankou, birth name Carter Bones, also called the "SkeleMaster" was a brilliant genetic engineer and creator of the Skeleton Virus. He has been fascinated with death since a very young age wanted to find a way to undo the process. After experimenting on himself and becoming functionally immortal he sees himself and other Skeleton Creatures as superior to regular people, and wishes to wipe them out and revive them as his skeletal minions. Ankou believes that since everyone dies eventually, it doesn't matter when, and the only lives worth living are the ones that last forever.

History

Carter Bones was born 70 years ago to a wealthy family. His family had a pet puffle who was very old, and died when Carter was a child. Carter was very confused when this happened and asked his parents what happened. They replied that the Puffle had gotten old and died, so he could be no longer with them. Carter was very saddened at this event, and wanted to bring the puffle back. He went out and dug up the grave of the puffle. It was embalmed so it did not rot, but his parents noticed and scolded him very badly. Carter was brought to tears saying it was unfair that the puffle died, but his parents comforted him and told him that eventually everyone died.

Since then, Carter was fascinated with death. He noted that his own body was very fragile, and was susceptible to cuts, bruises and the like. He studied biology to understand this process and wanted to be able to stop it. Carter was very anti-social and did not have many friends in school, but he was a brilliant student and his teachers said good things about him. He eventually graduated high school with honors and got a scholarship to one of the best universities in Antarctica at the time

In University Carter studied cellular biology. He eventually learned of Gene therapy, which was a way of changing one's genetic code by using a virus that inserted genetic material. Carter believed that by tampering with genes, he could make someone immortal, or raise the dead. Carter pursued this vigorously, and earned a doctorate in Genetic Engineering for his discoveries on how certain genes work.

Gene used his grant money to start an experiment; find immortality. However he was only allowed to experiment on fish. He created a retrovirus that would insert genetic materials into the cells. There were many trials, most of which killed the fish, but eventually a strand was created which gave Carter the desired results. However all the cells of the fish became a colored-in but transparent jelly like material, making the fish look like a skeleton. This shocked his peers but Carter found it to be beautiful. Carter demanded live penguin trials, but was denied because nobody wants to look like a skeleton.

In desperation, Carter went to the local morgue and stole several corpses of penguins. Carter refitted the viruses to seek dead cells and injected it into the dead bodies. To his satisfaction, one of the viruses worked and the body came back to life as the first true Skeletal Creature. Carter showed his creation to the board, but they were disgusted and threw him out of the university.

Still wanting to further his work, Carter and his new friend built a laboratory to create more Skele-creatures
