Captain's Quarters is an extended play project by Antarctican pirate and musician Rockhopper. It was released on April 18, 2012 by Club Penguin Music Records. Captain's Quarters is Rockhopper's second project of his musical career, succeeding his highly-successful debut album Rockhopper's Ballads (2011). It served as a predecessor to Rockhopper's second album, The Journal of Captain Rockhopper (2012), released later in the same year in December. The 7-track EP contains no guest appearances, but features production from SKT and Destroy, Il Grinta, R-2014, DK Codswallop, Junglefood and Yarr. It is Rockhopper's only project to not feature any guest appearances.
The EP was supported by the two singles: "Fair Winds" and "Best of Days". It received positive reviews from critics and reached number 1 in the main Antarctican charts.
Between 2011 and 2012, Rockhopper managed to record an abundance of music which he didn't want to keep in the vaults. Bouncing back only six months after his commercially and critical successful Rockhopper's Ballads (2011), Captain's Quarters consisted of leftover tracks that Rockhopper didn't plan to include on his second studio album, The Journal of Captain Rockhopper (2012). Rockhopper aimed to create "summer vibes" with the songs produced for the project.
Recording for Captain's Quarters took place within a three-month period between January and March 2012. Songwriting and production was completed very quickly as Rockhopper wanted to get the leftovers their deserved release out the way and focus on his second album for an end-of-year release.
Two singles were released from the EP: the lead single "Fair Winds", released on the same day as the EP, April 18, 2012. The second single, "Best of Days", was released on June 2, 2012.
