The airport was used to handling domestic flights until 2014, when many airlines decided to move in.

Facilities[edit]

There are three terminals in the airport, connected by a pedestrian walkway. All of them are built with a modern architecture, like most new airports. There are two runways. Runway 19/31 is 11,000 feet long, which is able to accommodate most large aircraft. Runway 16/05 is 6,900 feet long. This is long enough to accommodate a Snowing 747.

Some gates have been closed due to lower passenger numbers (compared to Vonkouver). The council has agreed to remove the jetways and ship them to Penguin City, which is in need of expansion.

Party Hat Terminal[edit]

The Party Hat Terminal serves as a Shops Jet's hub. It is, well, shaped like a party hat. The concourse has 10 gates (1-10) and includes a dancing fountain show in the center. There's also a Shop Jet Club in the terminal.

Beachball Terminal[edit]

The Beachball Terminal has 22 gates (15-36), serving all other domestic airlines. This is the oldest one of the three terminals, and it serves as PSA's focus city. Inside is a PenLounge, along with restaurants and a few shops.

Island Terminal[edit]

The Island Terminal is the airport's small international terminal. There are only four gates (101-104), but all can accommodate widebodied aircraft. Gate 101 is equipped with dual jetways, which is used for Airhail A380 aircraft. Inside is a small airline lounge, along with a food court and a duty free shop.

Traffic and Statistics[edit]

Surprisingly, as of 2015, Chill P. Beachball International Airport experiences the second most air traffic out of any airport in Shops Island. The airport handles 69 flights per day, which equates to around 25,000 flights per year. The top operators are listed below.

  1. Shop Jet - 53.62%
  2. Penguin Shops Air - 36.23%
  3. Freezestonian Air, Pacifica Airlines - 4.35% per airline

The rest of the airlines account for 5.8% of Chill P. Beachball's traffic combined.
