Club Penguin Fanon Wiki:Ban New Countries

From Club Penguin Fanon Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

Since all of you are whining about this subject, I am proposing a vote which will prohibit the formation of new countries, with some special exceptions. Before you go screaming at Swiss' and my feet, let me explain my reasoning.

  1. There are far, far, too many countries in the Fanon Universe
  2. If we continue this, there will be too many countries, and too many rising powers, like I thoughtlessly turned Shops into.
  3. Yes, "Imagination is more important than knowledge". I agree with that. However, unlike characters and stories, too many countries suck the imagination out of the concept. Countries have already lost their glimmer; I don't want them to become a cliche.
  4. Instead of creating new countries, we could be putting our creativity into making existing countries more imaginative, some of them badly need more imagination.
  5. To put it bluntly, most of these new countries SUCK. You should at least have experience before creating your own country.

Debate and vote (but please don't whine :|) below.

Should we ban the creation of countries, with some certain exceptions?

Yes, we should (+8)

  • Users should be able to create whatever they want, however they want, whenever they want without the administration trying to put limitations on our creativity. Also, making articles helps people to become experienced broseph. CKSig.pngWannaTalk? 04:51, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
  • There are other things to write about. --CanadaFlag.png Bro Talk to me! 04:56, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
  • By the way i'm curious, did you and swiss ask TS permission to pull off this heinous idea? CKSig.pngWannaTalk? 04:53, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
  • Have to agree with CK on this one. Although, I think there should be some limitations on new countries - e.g. they can't be too advanced or large. Maybe minor countries. Or then territories, struggling for independance. But yeah, a country like Kaljeria should've been way weaker and less advamced. Though I don't like that it was turned into a colony...couln't you have fixed it up? Am Snowstormer! :D Proud to be Estonian! Snowstormer For science...You monster! Both sides both have good reasons. Banning countries would limit freedom for the editors, but countries have recently become more and more prominent. I remember long ago, were was another boom of new countries, usually ruled over the creator's character user (Been there, done that.) I don't remember it being a problem then. You could also get more countries involved in stories around the wiki. However, it does become more of a cliche. I remain neutral. --Chub777.pngChub777 (Talk to your rollback!)Buhc777drawing.png 10:18, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

I think we should allow the creation of new countries, but with specific criteria, like:

  • The user must have been actively editting for the past 6 months.
  • The user must have created at least 5 HQAs
  • The user must not have an existing country or countries unless the new country is a parody. Exceptions can be made for this (eg. Swiss, etc.)
  • The user must be trusted, passionate and speaks his/her voice at most/every debate

There. That should do it. What do you think?

Singapore flag.gif Nicktang10 (my talk page) 12:26, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

I think we should settle on this ultimatum; Most countries today are made by noobs, and are complete trash. --CanadaFlag.png Bro Talk to me! 12:59, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
These articles were made by noobs and were complete trash too at first. Then, they became better as the users who made them became more experienced. CKSig.pngWannaTalk? 21:28, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

How DARE you call my country Trash! It never was to begin with! --Gottfried Pondering.pngUser:Swiss Ninja Clovis Hochstadt Performing.png (My Talk Page) 22:35, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

How DARE you and bro (or how dare you let bro) call all of the new users' countries trash?! Also, in case you didn't notice i'm trying to make a legitimate point. All of the big countries now like USA, Shops, Castilla, and even Snowzerland were new at one point in time and they probably sucked because they were created by users who were new and possibly inexperienced users at the time. CKSig.pngWannaTalk? 13:12, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

If you want to see trash, look at this or this. --CanadaFlag.png Bro Talk to me! 23:02, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

Eh, neutral. The new countries are pretty much useless, but they shouldn't ban them. --Yoshi11 13:03, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

Nicktang's suggestion should be considered - possibly with some alterations here and there. But there are 135 countries already (according to the category list). There's no point in having any useless countries. The concept of countries is not an original idea any more; it's worn out, old-fashioned and boring. Bro's introduction pretty much summed it up for me. The more countries there are, the less significant the newer and weaker ones become, making them less likely to become prominent in the Fanon community. A user can easily create a free state instead, but this fuss for countries must be stopped one way or another. -- Ninj Xmas Sig.PNG ¤ (User page!) (Turn the fan on. / Hating the new wave of articles.) 14:18, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

Yes. Antarctica doesn't have the physical SPACE for new countries. We have boundaries, y'know! --CanadaFlag.png Bro Talk to me! 17:37, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

I think its kind of getting out of hand. There's (according to Ninj,) 135 countries within one continental area. IRL, there are 206 countries worldwide. I see an issue here. User:EDFan12345 16:48, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

I'm going neutral on this. There ARE too many countries, but we could clear out useless ones. ULSK12TalkContribs DaiBouken.jpg 21:04, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

Only time will tell the consequence(s) of this action. It does seem pretty harsh on new users but it all depends on how you guys implement and work with the "ban". --LordMaster96 03:43, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

I have to agree with Nick's solution. Ban country making, unless you've established yourself on this wiki as a valuable editor. While we're at it, we could also have a mass clean-up of the countries. --Chub777.pngChub777 (Talk to your rollback!)Buhc777drawing.png 08:43, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

How about a) mass-delete of all non-prominent, no longer frequently edited countries or b) use the former Manifest Destiny Treaty (trusted users only) and take control of all islands.

In the meantime, I'm thinking of splitting Eastshield...

Singapore flag.gif Nicktang10 (my talk page) 12:22, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

All of you older users agree with it only because you all already have your own (mostly successful) large countries, so you have no idea or just don't care about how the new users would feel if this was implemented. Just think though, what would you feel if you were never allowed to make your countries back in the day, or have your countries be forced into being property of one of the "world powers" as dictated by administrators? CKSig.pngWannaTalk? 13:12, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

Uh I would have moved on. Found other things to do and write about. You gotta be flexible and creative here. --Gottfried Pondering.pngUser:Swiss Ninja Clovis Hochstadt Performing.png (My Talk Page) 15:57, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
