Anthem[edit]

Bro stated on the user blog that the USA needs an anthem, and he's right. We don't have to make a final decision until the page is ready to go (it can be one of the last things), but people should at least start looking for good songs and posting them here. I think that the USA's new anthem should probably be fun, lighthearted, and uplifting to fit with its overall happy and cheery attitude. It's "the best country in the world" not only for its stats, but because it's a great place to be. Almost everyone loves to be there, and it shows. I imagine that penguins love the USA for the same reasons we love the real USA. Open to anyone, where you can do almost anything, and people still have a lot of fun (Just look at the gourdzoid council/South Pole Council, the leaders of the country). There's an overall "waddle around and meet new friends" vibe across the land, as well as an instilled sense of patriotism among citizens for the country they live in, and also their state.

In 2012, Screenhog said that maybe he could create an anthem for the USA... so maybe once we're done renovating we could ask him on twitter or something if he could still help us out? He could read the comment above, and the new and improved article, and maybe make a really cool anthem that isn't even a song off of Youtube B) Anyways yes, feel free to propose songs below and say why they should be the anthem (there's no limit on how many you can propose). Population[edit]

Since the article hasn't been edited in years, some things may need to be updated, one of which is population.

Country[edit]

At one point the USA's population was 6 billion, but it's at 2 billion right now. Should it be changed a lot, or just a little for expansion since 2009? CKSig.pngWannaTalk? 15:43, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

6 billion is too much, TBH. We should just let it remain at 2 billion, maximum 2.5 billion. Developed countries don't grow at that pace. --Russia flag.PNGBelarus flag.jpgSlender Talk to me 08:47, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

Wait a sec, since when did the USA's population became 6 billion? --Russia flag.PNGBelarus flag.jpgSlender Talk to me 13:51, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

It was in like 2009, I just brought it back up for no particular reason. CKSig.pngWannaTalk? 14:58, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

South Pole City/Polar District[edit]

SPC, in the Polar District, has about 23 million citizens, which seems like a lot. But, it's a parody of NYC and Washington DC, and is the most famous city in Antarctica. NYC holds 8 million citizens, aka 3% of the entire USA's population, while SPC has about 1%. So, I propose we change the number in SPC up to 60 million or so to match with the 3% stat. CKSig.pngWannaTalk? 15:43, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

A city with 60,000,000 penguins? Are you out of your mind? :L --Penstubal (Talk) (Edits) 15:56, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
cough (granted that and Munijoch's overall pop are OP). Yes I'm serious, that's why I gave me reasoning above. You can either be helpful to the discussion, or get out, we don't need petty one-liners. It could be the whole Polar District rather than just the SPC, but yes I'm very serious. Read my reasoning and give a useful comment please. You can still disagree, but at least don't just say things that don't give anything to the discussion please. CKSig.pngWannaTalk? 18:05, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
(#Burn) I see the reasoning and I agree to increase the population. Interestingly, even the most populous real city doesn't surpass 40 million. Based on that, somewhere in the low 40s would seem suitable to me. -- Ninj Xmas Sig.PNG ¤ (User page!) (Talk page.) 19:06, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
The way I've always imagined Antarctica is that since the continent is basically a wasteland, the population would more or less group in larger, denser cities. Of course you would have smaller communities, but not on the level of real countries. --User:EDFan12345 19:59, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
60,000,000 is way too much. I think 30-35 million would be good enough. --Brant (talk) 23:46, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

Well, the population for the city itself could be around 30-40 million, but the SPC metropolitan area could have a population of 60 million. --Russia flag.PNGBelarus flag.jpgSlender Talk to me 08:45, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

Name changes[edit]

I propose the following for name changes, feel free to propose your own:

  • Change the official name from Kyrocratic Democracy of the United States of Antarctica (or whatever it is) to simply United States of Antarctica. The government will be the same, but the name just seems weird (similar to "Democratic Industrial Isle of Shops" or "Imperial Empire of Snowzerland".
  • Change the name officially for the state of Antarctic Peninsula to simply "Peninsula". I know that it's not the only peninsula in Antarctica, and other people could call it the Antarctic Peninsula, but as the official name from the USA, it seems very unneeded (whereas "Trans-Antarctica" and "Sub-Antarctic Islands" actually make sense).

The first one is a minor thing, but the second one is kind of important. I think changing the name officially would benefit us, but tell me what you think. CKSig.pngWannaTalk? 05:04, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

I mean, the Antarctic Peninsula is literally the name of the peninsula. I don't know what changing that would accomplish. --User:EDFan12345 12:13, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
"Welcome to Eastshield. Welcome to Trans-Antarctica. Welcome to Antarctic Peninsula!" It just sounds odd in my opinion, and like I said, unnecessary since it's the most notable peninsula in Antarctica. We don't have to change it, just a proposal, and something that bugs me. CKSig.pngWannaTalk? 07:36, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Just "Peninsula" sounds like an incomplete name, plus it makes it more in touch with the name of the continent itself. For a country called the United States of Antarctica it seems fitting to throw in the Antarctic name in its states to make it clearly link to the country. -- Ninj Xmas Sig.PNG ¤ (User page!) (Talk page.) 21:50, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
FloridaAmerican Peninsula, but if nobody wants it changed that's fine too CKSig.pngWannaTalk? 01:10, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

So, it turns out that Brant moved Sub-Antarctic Islands to Sub-Antarctica in October, with out really asking anyone or getting permission. My question is, should we leave it as Sub-Antarctica or move it back? Whichever we choose, we could still use the other as a secondary name. Personally, Sub-Antarctic Islands sounds more complete, since it's all islands, but that's just my opinion. Also, it's been known by that name for years now and the redirect is probably on hundreds of pages. CKSig.pngWannaTalk? 07:30, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

Well, in my defense, I think it is a better name. We call the US state Hawaii, not Hawaiian Islands, right? --Brant (talk) 02:16, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
