"Come On'" is the debut single by Antarctican musician Franky. The song was released on August 4, 2017 by Club Penguin Music Records as the lead single from Franky's debut solo album Franky's Jams (2017). It is the first official musical solo release by Franky after going on hiatus with Penguin Band and signing a solo record deal. It features a guest appearance by Terrain rapper and producer DJ Crow who provides a rap verse. The song takes on a rock and roll sound, which is produced by Jarvis Gibson and Flipperstomp, along with additional production by fellow band member Stompin' Bob who plays electric guitar.

"Come On" performed well in the charts, peaking at number 1 across Antarctica.

Background[edit]

Franky is one quarter of the highly successful Penguin Band. After the band put out their fourth album Legacy in November 2016, the band decided to take a break from music as a group in order to focus on individual ventures. Franky, while initially intending to focus on an acting career, was offered a solo record deal by Club Penguin Music Records which he could not refuse. After signing the deal in December 2016, Franky began working on his debut album from January 2017 onwards.

"Come On" came into fruition in April 2017 while DJ Crow was juggling producing for Franky's album and Meaghan's album. Due to the lack of time he had he was unable to produce a song for Franky but spent time with him for songwriting and working out what Franky's sound would be. After settling to take the rock and roll approach, Crow promised to deliver a rap verse to compensate for not being to produce the track. Their songwriting led to "Come On" which is about encouraging the listener to engage with the song and provide energy.

Composition[edit]

The rock and roll sound was very unique and something that no other artist was adopting in the industry. "Come On" heavily relies on guitars and drums.

Commercial performance[edit]

With the level of excitement expected by fans and the industry for Franky's first song, "Come On" entered the Antarctican Hot 100 at number 1, selling over 200,000 downloads in its first week of release. It was the first number 1 of the year and became Cadence's 12th number 1 single in the USA. In addition it also entered at the summit on the CP Singles Chart, UnitedTerra Singles Chart, Swiss Ninja's Top 100 and Shops Island's Bubbling Singles. In every other chart it either entered or peaked within the top 5. In March 2017 the song was certified Platinum for reaching units of 1 million sales.
