Culldrome City is the capital city and the largest city in the Culldrome Isles archipelago. It is the first permanent settlement to be founded on the Culldrome Isles and is also the heart of the archipelago, housing many businesses and governmental offices. The city's greater metropolitan area houses over a million inhabitants, a large portion of the Culldrom population, not counting the overseas territories. The city is a prominent hub for the country, from economy and politics to culture and arts.

In 1854, the Culldrome Isles were settled upon. The original colony that was founded was located on the northern shore of Culldrome Island. However the area had little food, trees or fresh water. A scouting trip lead by Mark the Warrior set out to find an area that is more suitable for a colony. After a few days of searching, an area near a river was found. The entire colony moved to this location, allowing it to thrive and grow. The colony began to grow and eventually became a large settlement. The settlement became a city and was named Culldrome City. The city continued to grow and grow. Many settlers settled in the city.
When the ninjas occupied the Culldrome Isles, they captured the capital. Many of the buildings in the city were destroyed as part of the attack that captured the colony. During the occupation, many forts and castles were constructed. Many mines sprang up all around the city, to hunt for Porcyals. Dojos were created so that the ninjas could train and hone their skills. The city became the base of ninja operations in the Culldrome Isles. As the years progressed, the ninjas made the Culldrome Isles thrive. The capital grew into a large armed fortress. Ninjas from all around the isles flocked to the city and settled there. The old colonists were forced to work hard in the mines as the ninjas enjoyed a high lifestyle.
As the ninjas fled and retreated, the colony had a lot of cleaning up to do. The many buildings that were destroyed were repaired. The entrances to the mines were sealed up, but the tunnels still exist to this day (some of them have been converted to sewerage pipes). The Dojos were modified to become houses. The inside of these were converted to a normal house but the outside stayed the same.
As the repair and re-build process was estimated to take a while. Construction on Bluetower Castle, a small haven in the middle of a forest, was starting. This diverted some of the construction workers from the city. This also diverted some of the citizens to live in the castle, as they wanted peace and quiet.
In 1900, the new millennium came in and ushered in a new era for Culldrome. Many of the citizens who had lived in the city moved to Bluetower. However, in time, many more penguins and puffles settled in in Culldrome City.
Soon, when a government was established, Culldrome City became the capital city. It's importance in the archipelago grew, due to this. Roads were expanded, reaching all parts of the mainland. Mass transportation systems also sprang up, including an airport being built. Large office blocks and skyscrapers were built by major businesses, boosting the economy.
When the Porcyal War arrived, the city was nearly the sight of a battle. The economy plunged as the offices were evacuated from the city. By the end of the war, however, everything turned back to normal. In early 2014, during the Battle of Culldrome, half of the city was destroyed after a Culldrom Porcyal bomb was detonated, destroying the military of Confederate Culldrome in the process. The bombing left thousands without homes and millions of coins worth of destruction. The rebuilding effort is expected to take until 2016.
Today, Culldrome City is the second largest city in the Culldrome Isles, behind the large Golden City. Supporting a lot of its population, it is still expected to keep on growing in the future.
Places of Interest
Since the city is the capital, there are many national buildings and landmarks. The Culldrome Isles International Airport, the largest airport in Culldrome, is located here. The Culldrom Capitol is located in the Capitol District. There are also many important government buildings located there including embassies and ministries. Many office buildings and skyscrapers are located in the CBD.
In front of the Capitol is a large bronze statute of Mark the Warrior holding his sword. The statue was originally built in 1860, but was destroyed by the ninjas in 1862. In 1930, the remnants of the statue were found and the monument was re-built. When the monument was re-built, the sword was changed from bronze to Porcyal. At night the statue is illuminated and the Porcyal sword glows. The statue is under heavy guard so that it does not get vandalized or stolen.
Culldrome City is sliced into northern and southern parts due to the Mossy River running through it. As such, the two main districts of the city are the north and south districts. These main districts are further divided into more areas:
Blue area that surrounds the Mossy River is appropriately named the River District. It contains many of the old and original buildings that were built, with the oldest dating back all the way to 1860. This is due to the river area being the first areas to be colonised. The river banks are filled with old and historical buildings, but more modern buildings have replaced some. The original architecture here slightly resembles old Alemanian-style buildings. The old Culldrome Town Hall is located here and is a meeting place for both locals and tourists that gather. The River District also contains and houses modern-styled buildings. Many small bridges are located here, bridging the gap formed by the Mossy River, which splits the district into two. The Culldrome International Airport is located here, on the southern banks of the river.
The beige area at the bottom is the Moss District. Named after the river, it is the largest district in the city. The district can be considered suburban, as it is a distance away from the city centre. It contains many houses and apartments densely packed together, effectively holding a vast majority of the population. These dwellings house a wide variety of inhabitants ranging from poor to very rich, although medium wealth citizens are the most prominent class here. In fact, this area accommodates around 600,000 citizens. There are also major shopping malls in the area for the residents to shop at. The Moss District can also be considered a cultural hotspot. There are many Zhouese and Ligurian shops and restaurants, which are frequently visited by others. As the population grows, it is expected to expand south towards the forest.
The pink area to the bottom right is the Industrial District. As the name suggests, it is a massive industrial zone. There are many factories and warehouses here. The area produces a large amount of revenue for the city. Many things are manufactured here, ranging from pencils to clocks. Large highways and roads transport the products to the airport or the surrounding ports, where the produce is exported. This district provides much of the lower class good job opportunities; businesses have many open slots for jobs. The city's lower class slums are also located here, owing to the very cheap real estate. Air pollution, however, is a major issue here, which is why many choose to avoid it.
The large red area in the middle is the Capitol District. This is the heart of the city (or even the archipelago), politically. There are many important buildings here, including the Capitol, where the nation is ruled from. All of the important governmental buildings are located here, such as embassies of other nations and ministries. A distance away from the Capitol is the Supreme House, which is a large, ornate palace where the Supreme Leader and his family live. The Supreme House in under heavy guard 24/7 and even has a helipad and a large garage for their motorcade.
Also nearby is The Square, where the Culldrome Military is primarily commanded from. The Square is a very large square-shaped building (as the name suggests) with a hollowed out central portion. Here, a peace park is dedicated to all the fallen in combat. The four branches of the military (army, navy, air force and special forces) each occupy one of the four sides of the building.
There is also a large park, called the Capitol Gardens, which, as the name suggests, is located near the capitol, riding along the main streets leading up to it. In addition, there is a large plaza that is lined with countless flags, appropriately named the Flag Plaza. The flags are those of the many countries that have embassies in the district, as well as flags of Culldrom states and territories. The Plaza and Gardens are home to many different monuments to Culldrome and its citizens.
The yellow area on the top left is the Nainin's District. It is named after an old Telenacle that was thought to have been built here during the colonial era. Today, there are no ruins to be found. Many now believe that the old Telenacle was built far away from the city, close to Bluetower Castle. The area now has many small houses and buildings, resembling a suburban area. There are a handful of farms here as the land transitions from city to countryside. A large portion of the city's Puffle population (65%) resides in this district. Due to this there are many Puffle-friendly provisions. Even so, the district is considered by many to be technologically backwards.
The orange area at the top is the Bay District. The Bay District is the closest district in the city that is located close to Culldrome Bay even though it is quite far from the bay itself. There are more houses here, as well as warehouses and a handful of buildings. Most of the district is empty and still being developed. Many wealthy citizens live here; the entire Bay District actually resembles a brand new estate. There are many luxuries here, such as the extremely large Bay Mall. The Bay Mall has 72 floors, making it more of a skyscraper rather than a mall. There are also many condominiums and apartments, housing a large amount of the inhabitants. As the city's high wealth population continues to rise, the district will continue to expand. However, in recent trends, many more medium wealth citizens are starting to move in.
The light-green area to the right is the Downtown District, which is also known as the Central Business District (CBD). There are many skyscrapers and office towers located here. The national bank and stock exchange buildings are located in the heart of Downtown, attracting many white collar workers. It is also one of the most densely populated areas in the city, which can be attributed to the small district size and dense areas. The district is quite tight and squished up due to the many buildings. During the morning and evening rush-hours, the Downtown District experiences severe traffic and overcrowding. To help alleviate this, there are many public transport initiatives in place, with many train and bus services available. This district also has many interesting locations and places to visit. There are many malls, apartments, a few parks and even a telephone communications tower.
Culldrome City is situated on top of the Mossy River. This effectively cuts the city into a northern and a southern half. The river is not very wide, so large barges and ships cannot enter. Historically, the river was used as a drinking source and as a navigational aid. Today, many bridges cross the small gap that is the river.
The city is surrounded by forests and plains. Before the city was established, however, the area was dominated by trees. These trees have since been cut down to expand the city. As the city continues to expand, many trees are predicted to be cut down to make room for prime real estate. Mountains and hills are sparse and the land is flat.

The climate in Culldrome City is relatively warmer compared to other parts of the archipelago. This is since the city is a hotspot due to urban activity. However, in the winter months, the temperature drops down low enough to cause snow and frost. Despite the cold spells the area is very warm in comparison to Antarctic cities. The temperature is warm enough for grass to grow, like in most areas of the Culldrome Isles. Rain also occurs, which turns into snowfall during the winter.
Main article: Transport in the Culldrome Isles
There are four major highways that run through Culldrome City. They are:
- Culldrome Highway 1
- Culldrome Highway 2
- Culldrome Highway 3
- Culldrome City Orbital
Culldrome Highway 1 is a major road that extends from the eastern part of the city and runs parallel to the northern bank of the Mossy River. Completed in 1915, Highway 1 was a small dirt road that ran from the city to western Culldrome. In 1940, the highway was upgraded to have a stone surface. In 1978, Highway 1 was expanded and re-paved with asphalt. This expansion turned the highway into a more modern one.
Culldrome Highway 2 is another major road, running from the western part of the city to the east. It also runs parallel to the Mossy River, but on the southern bank. It was constructed in 1980, and was a way to link Culldrome City to the east, including Mt. Charlamander. Highway 2 also leads south once out of the city, towards the mountains. Culldrome Highway 3 is the most modern highway out of the three. It runs from Highway 1 to the northeast. Constructed in 1999, it passes through the Capitol and out of the city going eastward.
Culldrome City Orbital is an orbital highway than runs around Culldrome City. It links the three major Culldrome highways and distributes traffic around the city. It was constructed in 1985.
In between these highways are many major roads. These roads twist and turn throughout the city. In between these major roads are many smaller roads. These smaller roads are laid out in a grid pattern, allowing easy travel and navigation.
There is little to no transport involving water in Culldrome City. The city is a landlocked one, except for Mossy River flowing through the city. The river is so small, that no water transport is needed. The bridges are placed low in the river and the river itself is narrow, making it a nightmare for ships to navigate. Any sort of major sea transport for the city is undertaken by Seacast; the two cities have large scale transport infrastructure between them as a result.
There is only one airport in the city, which is Culldrome City International Airport. The airport serves all international air traffic into and out of the Culldrome Isles. The airport also serves the city itself. It is a large regional hub where small airliners ferry passengers, to be boarded on a connecting flight to the USA and beyond.
There is a lot of public transport around the city. Bus routes travel around the grid of roads in the city. In busy hours, normal buses are replaced by double decker and articulated buses. This helps to accommodate the large amount of passengers. There are many bus stops, with distances between some of them only a hundred metres. In addition to these, there are also shuttle buses. Shuttle buses are buses that run around on a fixed route, usually stopping at busy areas. Most of these are free and are paid by tax-payers.
There are also several train systems that operate in the city. The Inter-Rail Company (IRC) operate all trains in the Culldrome Isles. In the city, it operates many electric trains. These trains travel around the city in underground tunnels. The train lines weave their way around the city with stations at important areas. The trains are intended to be a cheap, easy and quick mass-transport system. At main stations, passengers can catch a connecting service outside the city to places such as Mt. Charlamander.
