The Ed Island Space Command is the primary expeditionary military organization of Ed Island. Its job is to protect territory of Ed Island, and protect its assets in space.

History[edit]

Rank System[edit]

The EISC uses a unique ranking system, with each rank wearing ornate armor differentiated by different color codes.

Rank Duties Armor color Image
Fleetmaster Commands a fleet of at least seven ships Varies
Shipmaster Commands a space vessel Gold
Field Marshall Commands all ground troops in a deployment Maroon
General Commands large groups of at least 150. Yellow
Commander Usually command vehicle deployments. Navy Blue
Ultra Command groups of 50 troops. White
Officer Leads groups of 25 troops. All ranks Officer and above have Energy Shielding in their armor. Crimson
Major Leads small groups of 10 Minors Red/Orange
Minor Lowest rank, but most common. Light blue EISC Minor.png

Special Ranks[edit]

Rank Duties Armor color Image
Ranger EVA thruster pack activities White
Special Operations Recon and stealth missions Black
Honor Guard Protect high-priority individuals, such as the hierarch White/Red
Storm Raid enemy positions Brown
Ossoona Spy on important people. Only one is appointed at a time by the hierarch. Varies
Hunter Heavy shock troops. They are heavily augmented, and wear mechanically-enhanced suits with a large shield and a Fuel Rod Cannon. Grey

Military[edit]

Navy[edit]

The Ed Island Navy is the branch of the EISC responsible solely for space operations. Its roles include ship-to-ship combat, orbital bombardment, the deployment of fighters and bombers and the method of delivery for the occupational ground forces.

Warships[edit]

  • The Incorruptible - One of the largest vessels in Antarctica, and the capital ship. Later the basis for the smaller SDV-Class Corvettes.
  • CRS-Class Light Cruiser - Support battlecruisers used in troop deployment and orbital bombardment. This line was later replaced with the larger CCS-Class.
  • CCS-Class Battlecruiser - A larger, kilometer-long variant of the CRS-Class. The first was constructed in December 2013, with two more scheduled to be built in 2014.
  • CPV-Class Heavy Destroyer - A destroyer class used for ship-to-ship combat and Glassing operations, introduced in 2026.
  • CAS-Class Assault Carrier - A three-kilometer long warship introduced in 2019, as a command vessel.
  • CSO-Class Supercarrier - Constructed in 2129, this 27-kilometer long behemoth, named the Long Night of Solace was built to be the flagship of the entire EISC fleet. The Solace was the only CSO-Class constructed.

Exo-Atmospheric Fleet[edit]

  • T-57 "Banshee" XMF - Small, lightly armored starfighter variant of the Banshee.
  • T-31 "Tarasque" XMF - Teardrop-shaped fighter/bomber
  • T-53 "Phantom" Gunboat - Heavy gunboat variant of the Phantom.

Orbital Insertion Pods[edit]

All EISC ships have Orbital Insertion Pods, in which soldiers can be deployed from space (or the atmosphere) inside a small capsule, and land on the battlefield. There are four variants currently in use. They are identical in use to the EICM's Drop Pods.

  • T-50 Orbital Insertion Carapace - Individual, one-use OIP.
  • T-51 Individual Breaching Carapace - Individual pod that can be recovered, and reused.
  • T-53 Heavy Deployment Carapace - Larger drop pod that can hold 5 soldiers. They can also be used to transport supplies (or a Ghost) onto the battlefield.
  • T-54 Mass Deployment Carapace - A large, rocket-like drop pod that can deploy 20 solders to the ground, and lift back to the host vessel. The Incorruptible holds the only one, due to the size of the pod.

Army[edit]

The EISC Army comprises of the majority of the military's ground-based infantry and units, and is tasked with engaging the enemies of the EISC in ground and air combat.

Vehicles[edit]

  • T-32 "Ghost" RAV - Small, one-man "hoverbike" used for light attack and recon.
  • T-48 "Revenant" - Light assault carriage, used as a smaller version of the Wraith tank.
  • T-29 "Shadow" Troop/Vehicle Transport - Nicknamed the "bus", the Shadow is used to transport troops and vehicles across the battlefield.
  • T-26 "Shade" Turret - Stationary, circular emplacement turret with several different configurations.

Artillery and Assault Platforms[edit]

  • T-25 "Wraith" - Comparable to a "tank", but launches plasma blasts in a arc.
  • T-52 AAA "Wraith" - Anti-Aircraft Artillery version of the Wraith. Uses six vehicle-mounted variants of the infantry Fuel Rod Gun.
  • T-47 "Scarab" Ultra Heavy Assault Platform - Giant vehicle used as a heavy assault walker.
  • T-38 "Tyrant" Anti-Aircraft Fortification - Semi-permanent anti-aircraft cannon. Shoots large blasts of plasma in three-round bursts, followed by a cooldown and recharge period.

Atmospheric Fleet[edit]

  • T-25 "Gigas" Dropship - Faster, less armored dropship affectionately named the "Tuning Fork" after its shape.
  • T-26 "Banshee" GSA - Deadly craft comparable to a fighter jet
  • T-52 "Phantom" Dropship - Larger, more armed dropship than the Gigas. Some variants include cloaking technology, and are colored green.

Infantry Weapons[edit]

Most infantry weapons utilized by the EISC are not based on physical magazines like conventional weapons, but rather internal batteries that must be recharged after they are depleted.

  • T-25 Plasma Rifle - A small weapon that rapidly fires plasma bursts, but overheats after a small amount of time.
  • T-25/I Plasma Repeater - A larger version of the Plasma Rifle, that fires faster, weaker bolts.
  • T-18 Plasma Pistol - A pistol-like weapon that can either fire small plasma bolts, or overcharge its shots into a more powerful blast.
  • T-50 Particle Beam Rifle - A sniper rifle that can fire using a similar principle to the Energy Projector on warships.
  • T-33 Fuel Rod Gun - Shoulder-mounted cannon that fires radioactive fuel rods, similar to a rocket launcher.
  • T-40 Concussion Rifle - Handheld cannon that fires explosive plasma bolts, comparable to a grenade launcher.
  • T-1 Energy Keysaber - Only used by the highest ranking soldiers.
  • T-52 Plasma Cannon - Small, portable turret, comparable to a conventional machine gun. Fires around three-hundred rounds per minute.

Explosives[edit]

  • T-11 Antipersonal Grenade - An anti-personnel and anti-vehicle grenade, that explodes in a burst of blue plasma. Their plasma-based properties allow them to "stick" to infantry and vehicle surfaces.
  • T-12 Breaching Charge - A small, adhering explosive that is remotely detonated.
  • T-18 Plasma Charge - An explosive used as an unguided bomb, dropped by Tarasque fighters. Also used by ground forces to breach enemy fortifications.
  • T-26 Suppression Grenade - A special grenade used against Jerdi and Serth to disrupt gravity fields, limiting their Force powers to a less effective form.

Weapons of Mass Destruction[edit]

The EISC, while not [officially] possessing nuclear weaponry, still technically uses WMDs. Energy projectors are a weapon used exclusively by warships, that fire a thin beam of energized matter, capable of destroying buildings effortlessly at long range and "glassing" cities and countries, systematically rendering them sterile and incapable of sustaining life. This is technically outside of the UAN's jurisdiction, as the energy projectors are not nuclear, chemical, or biological weapons (but they do produce extremely high levels of radiation).

In addition, a rarely used WMD is the Type-75 Antimatter Charge. This large bomb is filled with a very small amount of Antimatter, which can destroy entire starships. These are incredibly rare, as they are extremely difficult to create.

Glassing[edit]

The term "Glassing", more formally known as plasma bombardment, is used to refer to the act by which the EISC's ships bombard a country from low orbit by using heavy plasma weaponry. Before bombardment commences, all ground operations cease and local forces are evacuated. The EISC will then begin glassing the area by moving their warships close together, proceeding to blanket the surrounding areas with a series of crisscrossing orbits to ensure that the location is rendered uninhabitable.

Trivia[edit]

  • Despite being called the "Space Command", the EISC also handles many ground operations as well.
  • As opposed to the normal green/grey livery of most militaries, the EISC constructs most of its equipment with purple metal. If the need arises for camouflage, Active Camouflage devices are used to render the soldier/vehicle invisible.
