The "Monolith", as they are known, is a highly unknown organization of vigilante terrorists. They appear to be armored penguins, but upon closer inspection, they are cyborgs that take control of a host's body, and incorporate them into the hivemind-like intelligence. They sometimes refer to themselves as "Elves," despite bearing little similarity to their namesake.

Description[edit]
The Elves originally made their presence known in 2002, when a small force of them appeared in Antarctica by unknown means. For the most part, Elves lack individuality or names. They also have no emotions and view them as a weakness. Elves gain their numbers by "converting" victims into new Elves.
The process of converting a victim is fairly simple. Elf suits simply contain the unmodified body of the victim, similar to a suit of armor. The occupant is connected to the Elf collective, where they are stripped of emotion and identity. After this, they are just another Elf. It is, however, possible (albeit extremely rare) for the victim to regain their consciousness, and break free of the Elf influence. Their suits are constructed from bulletproof steel, and the chestplate houses a "heart of steel" and an emotional inhibitor chip. Even without an occupant, the suit was essentially a robot. Even when disembodied, the various parts of the suit – arm, head and torso – had sufficient processing capacity to pursue and attack a target. By the year 3000, the majority of Elves were "organic" Elves, but a large number were still robotic.
Elves have several major weaknesses. The most notable being the element gold. Gold, being non-corrosive, chokes their respiratory systems. 21st century guns barely faze Elves, though explosives and explosives could take them down.
Technology[edit]
The Elves possess advanced technology unlike any other. Other than their advanced suits and laser weaponry, they possess (as of the 2500s) several massive starships, from which they command their forces. These elongated ships possess a very skeletal appearance, as many crew amenities are not needed for the Elves.
