Court House.png This bill, Picture Format Reform, is currently in committee. The Wiki's Congress Committee is deciding what to do with it.

I demand a picture reform! Recently, Trisk, posted a blog about why we only should use PNG, SVG, and animated GIF. Many comented this:

JPEG can be good if you've used photoshop, or it can be used for realife pictures!

BMP and JPEG can sometimes come out good!

GIF is just a less advanced version of PNG!

My solution:

GIF should be used for pictures with more basic colors with stuff like Inkscape and MS Paint, and if you don't have PNG, try and use GIF!

PNG should be used for all colors with stuff like Inkscpae and MS Paint!

BMP isn't recomended, but sometimes, it comes out with good quality!

TIFF should be banned all along, as I've seen no comments about it! Only use it for realife pictures!

Also, for pictures that are realife (like those pictures on Google Images and Woogle), use either JPEG, Exif, TIFF, or RAW formats!

For Sector graphics and other formats:

All types of vector graphics such as CGM and SVG should be used! SVG is more advanced!

We should try out other graphics too, such as EPS and ODG, and decide whether we should allow the Wiki to use it

  • We have a good system, but I'll make an exception for JPGs being allowed for real life pictures. --Zapwire (talk/blog/edits) 17:14, January 22, 2010 (UTC)
