They made it to Bootcamp and Dancing Penguin decided to give them one of the 6 seats. They made it to Judges Houses and were one of the 4 Groups chosen to be in the live shows. They made it to the final against Michael Pengy and Chris Star and won the show on October 12th, 2014. As a result of them winning, they were signed to Club Penguin Music Records and have released 2 albums with another one releasing in Late 2017. They have released a total of 27 singles (not including covers, if counted then it is brung up to 35 singles).

Background[edit]

Andrews and Aoki first met at high school in November 2012 and quickly became best friends. They would hang out with each other almost everyday. They would play video games, watch TV and just have fun. Then in January 2013, they both discovered each other's taste for music. They decided to form a music duo and call it "Jack and Steve" (or J.A.S) for short. They began writing their own songs, making their own music and even performing at concerts. They didn't gain much popularity and they wanted to change that. After 11 months of being friends, they found out about The CP Factor and decided to sign up for it.

Career[edit]

2014: The CP Factor[edit]

After singing up for the show, they waited about 5-7 months for their audition. They decided to audition at the Penguin TV Studios Bulding on April 30, 2014. They sang "A Brand New Time for Us", a song that they wrote when they first started their music duo. The judges gave them a standing ovation with Cadence saying "I've seen many great auditions so far but this might be the best one yet.". Dancing Penguin said "I would love to mentor you two. You're great guys, you've got amazing voices and you look like you'd be amazing to work with.". Sam Rudi said "I think we've just found a favourite to win already.". They got three yeses from the judges and made it through to Bootcamp.

At Bootcamp, they found out that their mentor was Dancing Penguin. They sang "Work It" by Missy Elliot and received a standing ovation from the entire arena with Sam Rudi saying "That was the most energetic performance I've seen so far on this show. Congratulations." and Cadence said "If you guys don't get one of those chairs, I'm going to have a serious talk with this guy [Dancing Penguin]". Dancing Penguin said "I loved that performance. It was amazing, you were energetic like he [Sam Rudi] said, your dancing was outstanding and you just made my day and I want you to have one of those seats.". Jack and Steve did not lose their seat to any future acts and became one of the 8 Groups who made it to Hudgea' Houses.

At Judges' Houses, they sang "Try a Little Tenderness" by Otis Redding. After a long time of waiting, Dancing Penguin told them "I loved your performance yesterday. It was fun, it got me and Omar wanting to dance and sing along. It was just fun to watch. But what I'm wondering is if that performance was good enough to take you through. I can only take 4 through and there is another great duo who is also great and fun to watch and I can't send both duos through. It was a tough decision but....you're in my final four!". Jack and Steve had become one of the last 4 Groups in the competition.

In the first live show, they sang "Hopeful" by Bars and Melody and immediately became an early favourite to win receiving the 2nd most amount of public votes in the first week (losing out to Michael Pengy). They sang "I'll Be Missing You" a song which was covered by Bars and Melody for the second live show and again, made it through to the third live show where they sang "Faith" by George Michael. They were voted through to the fourth live show where they sang "Moondance" by Van Morrison. They made it through to the fifth live show and sang "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" by The Rolling Stones. In the sixth live show, they sang "Turn Your World Around" by Jenaux (ft. Jared Lee). For the seventh live show, thy sang a mashup of two Maroon 5 songs, "One More Night" and "This Love". Up until the eighth live show, they had never been in the bottom two.

Then in the eighth live show, they sang "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" by Elton John and "Mirrors" by Justin Timberlake. Because of an error with the voting system where people could not get through to vote for them, they ended up in the bottom two with Penguin Direction who were also a favourite to win the show (coincidentally, they were both mentored by Dancing Penguin). They sang "When We Were Young" by Dillon Francis in the sing-off and were saved when Dancing Penguin and Sam Rudi opted to save them meaning that it had went to a majority vote 2-0 therefore it didn't matter whether or not Cadence sent them home as they would still have been saved. Cadence said that she would have also saved Jack and Steve when asked.

In the semi-final, they sang "Written in the Stars" by Tinie Tempah (ft. Eric Turner) and "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" by Usher. They made it through to the final after it was revealed that they had not received the fewest votes from the public. In the final, they sang "You Are Not Alone" by Michael Jackson and for their duet, they sang "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran with their mentor, Dancing Penguin. They made it through to the second stage of the final against Michael Pengy. They sang "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" by Elton John as their song of the series and "Something I Need" by OneRepublic as their winners single. They won the show with 57.2% of the vote against Pengy making them the first ever winners of the show.
