Prologue[edit]
It was midnight in a small town in Freezestonia and was snowing lightly. A large group of penguins had just exited a building in the town all speaking in Freezestonian. None of them noticed another cloaked and hooded penguin following closely behind them. One of the penguins from the group took an alternate route into an alleyway while the cloaked and hooded penguin followed him. Just then, the lone penguin noticed he was being followed.
Penguin: (In Freezestonian) "Excuse me sir, but why are you following me?"
Cloaked Penguin: (In Freezestonian) "For nothing that important."
Just as the penguin turned around to continue walking, the cloaked penguin slammed him against the wall. The cloaked penguin pulled out a gun and pointed it at him and the penguin knew he'd never live if he made another noise. The other penguin's hood fell to reveal that he was a red penguin. Then the red penguin spoke in a loud and stern voice.
Lance X. Penguin: (In Freezestonian) "Who is your boss? Answer!"
The penguin trembled while still facing the wall
Penguin: (In Freezestonian) "Please! Please! Don't kill me! I don't know what his name is! He tells none of us! Please! I swear!"
Lance looked at his watch which instantly glowed blue and a blue hologram appeared. Lance switched back to English.
Lance: "Joshua, please make sure that we're not being followed. It wouldn't be good if this story got out."
Joshua: "Yes, sir. Scanning...There are no other vital signs in this area."
The penguin then turned around slightly to catch a glimpse of the hologram.
Penguin: (In Freezestonian) "W-What...What's that? Who is...Who's—"
Lance turned back to him and he instantly became silent and continued to tremble. Lance became stern again.
Lance: (In Freezestonian) "It's none of your business. Where does your boss live? TALK."
Penguin: (In Freezestonian) "Please! Please! He lived down near the ocean! He left a few days ago! He never told any of us where! Please don't kill me!"
The penguin trembled harder. Lance looked rather depressed and addressed himself in English.
Lance: "Oh well...That's too bad."
Lance thought for a moment but retained his grip on the penguin slammed against the wall. He knew that if the penguin's boss had left, it had meant that he had already left the time period.
Lance: "Joshua? Get the Trekker ready. We're leaving."
Lance then shot the penguin in the arm with a dart. As soon as it hit him, he let out a small yelp of pain and looked at it before falling unconscious and became limp against the wall.
Lance: "There. That should prevent him from remembering this encounter."
Just then, a faint buzzing noise could be heard and suddenly, a vehicle materialized out of thin air a few feet in front of Lance.
Lance walked towards the vehicle and the door on the side automatically opened for him. He stepped into the hatch to reveal a large room filled with gadgets and computers which with buttons and levers and screens which flashed and beeped and seemed to be full of activity. At the front, there was a captain's chair in the front with a lever and a few buttons on it's arm that was facing a large oval window.
Lance: "Joshua, have you recorded any tachyon particles in the area while we were here?"
Joshua: "Yes, sir. Another time travelling vehicle just left 17 minutes and 38 seconds ago."
Lance: "Then let's go and find it."
Smiling to himself, he leaned back in his seat and pushed a lever forward. The engine started to hum and the Time Trekker 30000 started to rise into the air. When it was about 16 feet high, it hovered before zooming forward at incredible speed with a loud crack and vanishing in a flash of blue light.
Chapter I: The Old Building[edit]
Lance was in the Time Trekker 30000 which was cruising through the Space-Time Continuum. He wasn't sure where he was to go to next, but he had to follow whoever the mysterious penguin was and stop them from destroying time itself. Lance was sitting in an armchair in the Trekker's lounge. He was looking at the many records time eras he had travelled to and pictures of them which he put into a journal. He came across a photo of himself next to his friend, Kwiksilver when Joshua spoke.
Joshua: "Sir, we have just left the vortex. We are near our destination. I have detected tachyons in the area."
Lance: "Excellent work, Joshua!"
He closed the book and smiled to himself again. He knew whatever was coming next or whoever he was chasing, it wasn't going to be easy. He grabbed everything he needed before getting into the captain's seat. The trekker slowly began to descend on a grass-covered hill that was situated next to a city. Lance doubled checked every monitor to make sure that nothing was watching them before stepping out. He looked at the landscape and smiled.
Lance: "I finally arrive at the place I've been wanting to visit for a long time: Toledo, Castilla."
Lance got out of the trekker and started waddling through the city. After a few minutes, he was soon at a lane nearby a river. He took out a pair of shades from his coat pocket.
Lance: "Lucky I found these in the same lab I found the trekker."
Lance put on the shades.
Lance: "Joshua, can you turn these on, please?"
Joshua: "Sure thing, sir."
Suddenly, everything appeared slightly more darker and had a slight greyish tinge to it.
Lance: "I've set these shades to track tachyons. I'll find whoever this time criminal is soon."
Lance waddled for a few minutes through the river area and caught sight of a penguin in a knight suit sighting by the river, a jester and a yellow puffle who all seemed to be in conversation. Lance paused to watch and smiled to himself.
Joshua: "Sir, might I remind you that informing the outcome of their assignment would greatly alter the timeline."
Lance: "Don't worry, Joshua, they're not our current mission and...aha!"
Lance bent over. Though a normal penguin wouldn't see anything, Lance, wearing his shades, saw bright blue specks littered over the ground. They appeared to be forming a trail.
Lance: "Tachyons. We must be getting closer."
Lance followed the trail for nearly an hour before he reached a broken down building on the edge of the city.
Lance: "My tachyon detector has tracked the tachyons all the way to here. Whoever's doing it, this is probably where they are now."
Joshua: "Be cautious, sir. I detect vital signs inside the building. Those inside may not take your presence very kindly if they find you."
Lance: "Let's hope I don't get caught."
Lance turned the doorknob and pushed. The door was locked. Lance took a walk around the building before finding out that the back door was left unlocked. Just then, he heard the sound of footsteps. Somebody else was coming closer. Lance froze and hid behind a stack of crates. He took out his Laser Blaster and aimed, ready to fire at anyone that threatened his life. The footsteps got closer and with every second, his breathing increased until he knew whoever it was, they were behind him. Sure enough, the dark outline of a penguin appeared seconds later and Lance’s heart skipped a beat.
Penguin: "YAHHH!"
The penguin screamed and leapt back in shock while Lance pulled the trigger. The penguin dodged the bolt a split second after Lance fired. The penguin took something out of a bag and pointed it at Lance: it was a gun. Lance rolled to the right and heard the penguin fire. Something whizzed past him and he knew the penguin missed. As soon as Lance got up, he directed his Laser Blaster at the penguin and the other did the same with his own.
BANG!
SPLAT!
The two projectiles collided in mid air and something burnt, sticky and smoking fell to the ground.
Lance: "WAIT! Wait, what?"
Lance squinted down at the gloppy, burnt substance on the floor and got back up, surprised.
Lance: "But...but...banana...? What...?"
He turned to the penguin who fired it and suddenly recognized the green glasses, blue mail bag and red cap.
Lance: "Kwik?"
Kwiksilver: "Lance?"
Lance: "What...what are you doing out here?"
Kwiksilver: "Well, that’s exactly what I was going to ask you."
Lance: "I...well..."
The two stood there awkwardly before Kwiksilver spoke.
Kwiksilver: "So...uh...what exactly are you doing near an old broken down building like this one in Castilla?"
Lance: "Probably the same reason as you, I guess. Maybe you should tell me."
Kwiksilver: "The Time Agency needs me to track down some rouge time device."
Lance: "Precisely! Exactly why I’m here. For all I know, If we don’t stop whoever this villain is, he’ll destroy time itself. Do you know if anyone else is here?"
Kwiksilver: "I don’t really know. I just arrived. Sprocket’s back there, though. He might’ve seen something."
Lance and Kwiksilver waddled back around to the front of the building where a red puffle was.
Kwiksilver: "Look, Sprocket. I found someone back there."
The red puffle whirled around holding his banana blaster and pointed it at Lance who looked confused and slightly afraid at the same time.
Kwiksilver: "Calm down, Sprocket, It’s just Lance. He’ s on the same mission we are."
Sprocket lowered the blaster.
Sprocket: "Are you really sure he’s on our side?"
Kwiksilver: "Of course. I’ve met Lance before."
Sprocket lowered his banana blaster slightly.
Sprocket: "The front door was locked, but when I smashed it open, there was nothing in it. Just a room that didn’t lead to anywhere."
Lance: "Well, then let’s go see what’s in this building."
The trio returned to the back of the building and found the unlocked door.
Lance: "Let’s see what’s down here once and for all."
He twisted the doorknob and pushed the door which creaked open to reveal a small, lightless room with a staircase leading under the building.
Kwiksilver: "Looks creepy."
Sprocket: "Don’t you think it could be a trap?"
Lance: "Could be. Let’s keep our weapons out just in case."
The three of them kept their guns raised and slowly walked down the stairs.
Lance: (whispering) Joshua, have you detected any life forms below us?"
Joshua: "I cannot tell, sir. My scanners appear to be thwarted by some power source inside the building."
Lance: "Drat...that’s too bad..."
The trio continued down until they found another door.
Sprocket: "Do you think we should open it?"
Kwiksilver: "Well, there is always a chance someone or something's hiding inside."
Lance: "Well, there's only one way to find out, isn't there?"
Chapter II: The Trap[edit]
Lance slowly pushed open to reveal a dimly lit, old brick room. There was a single lightbulb on the ceiling connected to a long wire running along the wall and connected to a switch. There were a few crates stacked up against the walls, a table, chair, cabinet and paper scattered almost everywhere. A wooden door was on the other side of the room.
Kwiksilver: "Whoa. What a mess."
Lance: "Someone must have been planning something."
Suddenly, a voice rang out behind them.
Unknown: (In Spanish) "Freeze!"
The three of them whirled around to see 2 Castillian soldiers holding guns. Before any of them could react, Sprocket leapt up and fired bananas at each of their faces. The soldiers dropped their guns and were blasted into the wall. One of them managed to get the banana off quick enough and tried to pick up his gun, but Lance was quicker.
ZAP!
The soldier was hit in his chest blasted off his back again and was instantly unconscious. The other one wiped the banana off his face and looked surprised for a moment but before he could do anything else, he was pinned against the wall by Lance.
Soldier: (In Spanish) "Stop! Please! Wait! I can explain everything!"
Lance: Would you mind telling us in English?"
Soldier: (In English) "Of course! Of course!"
Kwiksilver: "I thought you soldiers didn't attack random civilians."
Soldier: "We don't! We were both captured! Mind controlled by some penguin..."
Sprocket: "What did the penguin look like?"
Soldier: "I don't know...He never showed his face..."
Lance: "Can you tell us where this penguin is?"
Soldier: "Sorry, but I can't remember."
Lance, Kwiksilver and Sprocket helped the Soldier take the other soldier outside and as soon as they were gone, returned back to the room. Kwiksilver walked across to the other door and attempted to open the door.
Kwiksilver: "It's locked. I can't open it."
He rattled the doorknob and eventually gave up a few seconds later.
Lance: "Looks like we're just going to have to force it open."
Lance aimed with his Laser Gun and fired a few times. After a few tries, the door was battered, splintered, burnt and riddled with holes and black marks.
Lance: "Well, In we go."
The three of them entered the room. It was darker as the previous one.
Sprocket: "Hey, where's the light?"
Kwiksilver: "I dunno, maybe-YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!"
All three of them screamed in terror as the floor under them suddenly disappeared and they fell down a very large chute.
Kwiksilver: "TRAPDOOR!!!"
Suddenly, all three of them jerked up slightly and remained floating in mid-air. Sprocket and Kwiksilver looked up to find that Lance had used a grappling hook which latched itself onto a pipe.
Sprocket: "That was a close one."
Suddenly, they heard a cracking sound from above and the grappling hook shook slightly.
Lance: "Uh oh...That pipe must be old...brace yourselves!"
CRACK!
All three of them fell down the dark depths of the tunnel. As soon as they were about to hit the floor, they slowed down and landed softly on the ground.
Kwiksilver: "But...but how?"
Lance pulled out a small gadget that looked like a stop-watch.
Lance: "Thanks to this. Found it in a lab. Very useful for slowing things down. Has a limited amount of battery, though."
The three found another tunnel and went through it.
Sprocket: "Ugh. That smell...we must be near the sewers."
CRASH!
Totally unaware of this, a cage that was hanging above them suddenly came down on top of them trapping them all.
Questisbak: "Exactly what I planned. Stuck in a trap only greater fools than you would fall for."
Kwiksilver: "Questisbak!? So you're the one behind this?"
Questisbak: "And my master's plan to conquer time will be complete and you will be finished, Kwiksilver."
Unknown: "Heh, heh. All apart of my plan."
Lance: "Who are you!? Name yourself!"
Unknown: "I'm going to be across all of time within minutes. And I'd rather not reveal my identity, Lance."
Lance: "How do you know my name?"
Unknown: "I know all your names. I'm just as concerned about the changing the timeline as you are. But into a world that fits me. Where I know and control all. Questisbak here is under control from this gadget I stole from that failure you call an inventor. And soon, when I learn to reverse-engineer it, you'll all be under my control."
The penguin walked over and pulled out what looked like a futuristic remote control and pointed it at Sprocket.
Kwiksilver and Lance: "NOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
Sprocket rolled onto the floor before suddenly looking angry and pointed his Banana Blaster at the two of them.
Unknown: "Alright then, James. It's your turn now."
Kwiksilver: "NOO! SPROCKET!! YOU'LL NEVER T-AAAAAAGGGHHH!!!"
Kwiksilver rolled over the floor and got up seconds later with an emotionless expression on his face and aimed his Blaster at a bewildered Lance.
Unknown: "Dare to make a move, and I'll put them into an eternal sleep. Mess with me again, Lance, and more will fall under my control. Don't get it my way again."
