The Magonian Imperial Gardens is a collection of palaces and gardens located at New Riffleton, Magonia. The country's aristocracy and ruling class have their residences built here, primarily in either Archipelagoan or Zhouese architecture, as well. Because of its fusion of architectural styles, the Imperial Gardens are often considered to be a symbol of multiculturalism and it has often been lauded as a cultural landmark. The Magonian Emperor, the Magonian Chancellor, 17 aristocratic families and over 34 non-aristocratic government officials who are up on the ruling hierarchy reside here as of 2017.
Background[edit]
After Magonia transformed from an absolute monarchy into a constitutional one, Chancellor Slender thought that it would be a good idea to centralise the country's aristocracy at a single place so that they could be easily kept in check. This was because it was no secret that several aristocrats resented the fact that they no longer hold complete political power in Magonia and had to share it with the rest of the population. Around the same time, Emperor Kalieth also asked him if he could renovate or build a new palace for him as the old palace was already very old.
Slender then came up with the idea of building a collection of palaces at the new administrative capital so that potential troublemakers from the ranks of the aristocrats won't be able to form their own spheres of influence around the rest of the country. He then approached the aristocrats under the guise of selling them mansions and palaces at the new capital, promising them that they would be way better than their old residences in the countryside provided that they would be able to afford it. Having the context that their prestige was at stake here if they refused to accept the proposed 'new palaces', all of them accepted his offer, selling many of their own residential properties at the same time in order to raise the money for the construction.
Construction of the Imperial Gardens, which was contracted to several construction companies owned by Slender, started soon enough. Unbeknownst to them, Slender was also using the opportunity to get his own family a new residence at the Imperial Gardens. He also persuaded top-ranking government officials to buy a mansion at the Gardens so that they could be kept in check as well. Construction was finally finished on 3rd March 2016, with every aristocratic family in Magonia residing in the Gardens by the end of the month.
