MetaMutants are organisms with a special gene that give them super powers which often seem to defy all laws of physics. The gene is found in hundreds of species across Antarctica and can happen randomly, although children of MetaMutants are likely to contain the Gene themselves, and it appears to be most common in penguins. The powers that the user gains vary from person to person, and can be extremely powerful, or useless. Some MetaMutants even have powers that are detrimental to their well being.
History[edit]
It is unknown how long that MetaMutation has been around, although it has been at least a century. Many people who had the gene didn't know it at the time, and thus didn't use their powers. In the 1950s the governments became aware of the mutation, but kept it from the public for a variety of reasons, such as preventing mass hysteria and to keep the knowledge for themselves. In the 2000s the public became aware of the mutation, and many people were prejudiced against MetaMutants for having the powers. Anti-MetaMutant propaganda soared during this with many people claiming that MetaMutants were variation s of Demon Penguins. This lead to many of the MetaMutants being discriminated when they were found out. Several got fed up with society and government and became terrorists, which only worsened their image.
Over time, the government of Antarctica began to register MetaMutants, and created giant robots to capture anyone who resists. The robots had special devices that would scan organisms at the molecular level to see if they had the 'MetaGene'. Many MetaMutants were wrongfully convicted of crimes they didn't commit and were captured by these robots.
