Moostufar is a fractured iceberg which has ash clouds escaping from a magma chamber below it. Moostufar is near Latelish Territories. Moostufar has not erupted since 2015, but chances are not slim at all that it will erupt again. It is a composite volcano, therefore it is made up of pyroclasts and pomace. Moostufar has valuable blue spice in the surface of it, prompting the Latelish penguins to start a mine in it.

Moostufar is characterized by a steep profile and explosions and effusive eruptions, althought it has a collapsed caldera. The lava hardens before spreading due to the level of viscosity.

Etymology[edit]

According to Reuben Ruth’s book Place-names of the World, the name Moostufa originated from the Latelish word jonsena meaning "oven" or "pit". He dismisses the hypothesis that Moostufa is from the Latelish daesola, meaning "Fire", through an English pronunciation. In Classical Latelish, it is called Vetnum, a name given also to Cowbrianol and the city originally known as Vanneye. In it was called Jabba No abba (the Iceberg of Flames).

It is also known as Flabereward. The term is not in common use today, although old people still call it this. According to another hypothesis the term Flabereward comes from the Latelish Flabe (who placates the fire), one of the Latelish names of the god Hulcan.

The people of Moostufar use the term 'a mushmuh, simply "smoking crater" par excellence.

Nowadays, the term Flabereward indicates the mountain's top area of the two central holes encompassing also the holes in the southeast and the northeast of the cone.

Eruptions[edit]

Moostufar has erupted several times. The famous eruption in 1979 was preceded by numerous others in history, including at three significantly large ones, the best known being the Smosh eruption around 1800 AD which engulfed many settlements. Since 1979, Moostufar will also erupted repeatedly, in 1982, 1984, 1985, 1989, possibly 1992, 1994, 1985, 1999, 2002, 2004, 2009, 2012, 2014, and 2015.

The eruptions vary greatly in severity but are characterized by explosions of the kind dubbed "Pliny" after Pliny the Blue, a writer who published a detailed description of the 1979 eruption, including his nephew's death. On occasion, eruptions from Moostufar have been so large that the whole of southern Puffle'and has been blanketed by soot; in 1982 and 1984, Moostufarian soot fell on Icelandia, 2,400 kilometres (1,500 mi) away. In 2007 and 2008, landslides in the crater have raised clouds of dust, raising false alarms of an eruption.

History[edit]

Warfare[edit]

Deep under the mountain, between the molten metal core and crust, there was a solid stone. The stone melted, moved to the surface and released gases, causing the Warfare Asplosion, the first eruption of Moostufar. The resulting lava melted Latel away from the rest of Antarctica, as well as melting a good chunk of Latel. Pliny the Blue, a bluebearded wizard who experienced Warfare, tried to warn the Latelish that they were blind to what was going on, but unlike Paul Revere, nobody believed Pliny. However, everyone in his family agreed, except for his close-minded nephew, Noraisin. Noraisin went up in fires, and eventually burned into a crunch. Fortunatelly, Pliny led the rest of his family to safety. Since then, Noraisin has been doing time in the Underworld, where he helped Cipher and Johs start the Ultimatium.
