Nutzil is the largest island in the Latin Antarctican archipelago and is owned by both the Lisboaguese and the Dorkuguese. The island is known for being home to a lot of rainforest in the north and west and plains in the east and south. The Lisboaguese mainly own the coast and the south while the Dorkuguese are in the north and control the majority of the rainforest.

History

Nutzil was said to be inhabited by tribal penguins related to modern Hokjoks around the same time as nearby Parhentina, in 1000 BC. Nutzil's warm climate was well liked by the natives, especially in the rainforest, where the bulk of them settled. For nearly two millenia, the region experienced no contact from the outside world with the exception of traders from modern Beru, Parhentina, and Chavezuela. Nutzil never had any unified or prominent empire, since the natives that lived there were grouped into tribes that often warred against each other. It is known that they had also practiced cannibalism with their prisoners of war as well. In 1500, the Lisboaguese discovered the island and claimed it as their own. The island was effectively named Nutzil after the abundance of Nuts that the jungles seemed to possess. Thirty years later, the Lisboaguese established settlements on the island, and waves of immigrants began to grow as the appeal to establish sugar plantations became a popular trend. Very quickly, the Lisboaguese pushed back the natives more inland as they began to expand their cities and farms. Salvada, located in the northeast corner of the island, became the colony's first capital. Later, the capital was moved down south to the wealthy city of Rio. Nutzil, being the largest island in Latin Antarctica, was frequently challenged by the desires of other Ninja Archipelagoan nations. It is known that the Castillans and the Frankterrans had attempted to attack and invade the island, though they had failed. In the 1600's, the Batavians conquered and ruled the northeastern portion of Nutzil until the Lisboaguese planters commenced a series of riots and protests and defeated the Batavians in the Eight Years War. Afterwards, Nutzil was left to Lisboaguese control. Nutzil was Lisboagal's main colony, and it's business had helped make the country thrive and compete against Castilla for some time. Nutzil also saw a large amount of slavery on the profitable sugar plantations, most of which were Southern Kanta Penguins. By 1800, Nutzil's east coast had been heavily populated by several large towns and cities. In 1813, Frankterre went on a large invasion spree in the Ninja Archipelago, and they had completely conquered Lisboagal. The king of Lisboagal fled to Nutzil's capital, Rio, and made it into the Lisboaguese Empire's new capital while Lisboa was under Frankterran occupation. When the Frankterrans had been driven out in 1815, the monarch did not return to the Lisboagese mainland until 1821. King João IV was forced to return to the mainland because of the many revolts, but he left his son, Pedro, in charge of Nutzil...which turned out to be a bad mistake. Pedro decided to betray his father and allied with the elite Nutzilian nationalists and declared independence. Immediately, Lisboagal had lost it's most economically important and largest colony, and the country immediatly suffered a depression. Meanwhile, Nutzil became a brief empire before they overthrew their Emperor and established a democracy. In the years that followed, slavery was abolished and many of the Kanta Penguins that had been freed began to intermingle with natives and the penguins of Ninja Archipelagoan origin. Young Nutzil often had conflicts with Parhentina over their claims over Guruguay and Peregua islands. Nutzil's middle to late 19th century also saw the beginning of a large influx of immigrants, most of which came from Alemania and Liguria. Later, other groups from Lisboagal and Japaland also arrived. In 1910, Nutzil's government was couped by a Facist named Emilio Vegas. Despite his Facist political views, Vegas despised Whoot Smackler Whoot and campaigned to aid the Good Guys against Khanzem in the Khanzem War; the Nutzilians were the only island in Latin Antarctica to help in the Khanzem War. After the war, Nutzil continued to receive large amounts of immigrants from the Ninja Archipelago and Asiapelago, helping to facilitate a highly multiethnic group of penguins and puffles, especially in the city of Sao Giorgio, which received many of the immigrants. Nevertheless, Nutzil's government was unstable and faced a coup in 1964. Meanwhile in the 1960's, the Nutzilian government moved out of crowded Rio to the newly built city of Nutzilia more inland. Nutzil persisted for many years later to be a stable politically, but it continued to falter economically and socially with the widening of the gap between rich and poor and the establishment of several cramped slums known as favelas around major cities. Nutzil faced it's decline in 1990, when it's communist-sympathetic government gave monetary and limited military effort to STINC. However, when STINC fell and collapsed, Nutzil lost a lot of money, and national resentment arose, thus the next elections replaced the communist-sympathizer politicians. Ten years later, during the Colonial Antarctica War, Nutzil helped to sponsor the Loyalist side due to their appeals and promises to them. Therefore, Nutzil again provided food and monetary aid to the cause, but again they lost a lot of money when the Loyalists were defeated. Nutzil, now in bad debt, was beginning to experience protests and civil urest within the country. In the far northeast of the nation, many Nerds that had lived on the island for centuries to escape persecution, began to hear about the establishment of the new country, Dorkugal. Many of them wanted to immigrate, but the Nutzilian government, in fear of losing all of their technological geniuses, refused their right to leave the country. Hence, when several Nerds did escape to Dorkugal, the Dorkuguese Government hatched a plan with Lisboagal to help "liberate" their citizens. When the War of 2002 broke out between Freezeland and the USA, Dorkugal and Lisboagal banded together and commenced a mass invasion of Nutzil that took the island by surprise. The Nutzilian Government was immediately couped by the Lisboaguese, while the Dorkuguese invaded and took the areas that were ethnically dominated by their fellow Nerds. The Nutzilian national government in the Lisboaguese part of Nutzil was replaced with a new Colonial Legislature, while the Dorkuguese parts were established as direct provinces of Dorkugal governed by the Federal Government. Today, Nutzil island is developing smoothly with an increase in industrialization and a growing economy that is attempting to reach those of Zhou and the USA.

Culture

Lisboaguese

Dorkuguese

Dorkuguese Nutzil is mainly populated along it's coast with historical cities founded by the Lisboaguese several centuries ago. The coastal cities are mainly populated by Dorkuguese Nerds, penguins of Lisboaguese descent, Hokjoks, and Jerks. Unlike mainland Dorkugal, where most inhabitants never go outside, inhabitants of Dorkuguese Nutzil frequently go outside due to its pleasant weather and sun. Nevertheless, the inhabitants are true to their Dorkuguese roots, as many of them bring laptops or smartphones with them wherever they go, and they usually like meeting their friends in the city plazas and play games or chat with each other on their devices.

New Farmish

As a sub-region of the Dorkuguese Nutzil Colony, New Farmish contains a unique culture due to it's isolation from the rest of the colony, immigration, and geography. As the name suggests, New Farmish was inhabited by Strebers because of the area's large amount of fertile land that is ideal for farming and raising puffles. Previously, before the Streber influx, most of the inhabitants were Alemanian and Lisboaguese immigrants, who had to integrate when the Dorkuguese took over in 2002. Many of the Streber immigrants that arrived came to escape the low-tech lifestyle and settle with a moderate in the middle lifestyle, hence they intermarried with the Alemanians and Lisboaguese. However, much of the Farmish culinary traditions and butter churning activities were preserved, as farms were still promoted. Most inhabitants of New Farmish speak either German or Portuguese at home, and they learn English at school. Schools in New Farmish are typically rural and are usually one room that holds six different grades. Education is compulsory until age 16, which is when most students go off to establish their own farm or take up studies at the Alegria College, a small higher education school in New Farmish's regional capital, Alegria. Alegria still maintains it's modern appearance from it's pre-Dorkuguese days with apartment buildings and skyscrapers. The city is the only place in the sub-colony with a Dorkuguese mainlander majority, who want to make the city a technological haven and a key port to export Streber farmer agricultural products. Like the rest of the island, Soccer has remained one of the most popular sports in Nutzil, since materials to play the game is very cheap and most inhabitants like going outside, unlike in mainland Dorkugal.
