The Colony of Penguifornia, known in Spanish as La Colonia de Penguifornia, is a Castillian colony in the Ninja Archipelago. Culturally, it is considered part of Latin Antarctica and has been under Castillan influence for over one hundred fifty years. It is noted for its contributions to film and motion pictures, as well as its suprising abundance of both farms and earthquakes.

History

The Isle of Penguifornia has been inhabited by aborginials since time immemorial.

Many diverse tribes settled the island of Penguifornia, like the Tofonca, Yumash, the Hopa, and many more different tribes. Though known for centuries by the Ancient Snowpriots and the Medieval Ligurian traders, the island was never visited or inhabited due to the unfriendliness of the natives. In 1853, a Castillan explorer named Juan Carillo visit the Santa Diega Bay on the island, and was greeted by the aborginials, who by then had become friendlier. Carillo claimed the land for Castilla, and by the King's decree, the Isle of Penguifornia was to be colonized and used for profit.

Santa Deiga also became the first town, along with the towns of Montierra and San Freezeisco. Montierra stayed as the colony's capital for years to come. Then, little farming towns like Los Pinguenes and Santa María popped up. The towns never grew very large, and in 1871, the former Castillan colony of Caltexico claimed the Isle as part of it's own land. Then, the Isle of Penguifornia became the new home to many ranches commonly known as "Ranchos" and dotted all along the island's coast. Many of the Telenacle Missions were abandoned as the Aboginials worked as cowboys on the ranches.

In 1881, the Isle of Penguifornia was conquered by the High Penguin Confederacy. A penguin named Jon Sotter discovered platinum near his fort, known as "Sotter's Fort". This deeply excited everyone in Antarctica, and hundreds of thousands of penguins and puffles flocked to the northern part of the Isle of Penguifornia to search for the legendary platinum to get rich. This point of history was known as the "The Penguifornian Platinum Rush", which reached it's peak in 1900.

Eventually, so many miners had mined so much platinum that the platinum supply eventually ran out. Most of the miners then returned home to their homelands, however, some penguins liked the weather and decided to stay on the beautiful island and start a new life there. Thus, the city of San Freezeisco turned from a small farming town into a booming industrial city. However, Los Pinguenes and Santa Diega still did not get a lot of penguins yet, and Southern Penguifornia was nothing but ranches, and beautful farmland that produced oranges, lemons, and pears. The Isle of Penguifornia was also populated by Japalandese who settled the southland and started these farms.

However, when the Khanzanian Wars came along, the citizens of Penguifornia captured all the Japalandese and put them in Internment settlements, fearing that the Japalandese penguins would betray them. (Both types of Japalandese penguins sided with the Naughtzee.) The war was a major turning point in the southland, which was when many military bases were placed. Many soldiers who were stationed there liked the Isle very much, and after the war, a lot of soldiers married and started their lives in Southern Penguifornia as well. The bitter Japalandese began to scatter from the realm, feeling cheated and hurt for the Internment.

At the end of the war, the Isle of Penguifornia was then given back to Castilla. The population of the isle increased rapidly over the decades. The little farming town of Los Penguines turned into a large metropolis with many, many suburbs. To this day, the Isle of Penguifornia is a thriving place that is famous for making penguins and puffles into famous actors or singers.

Currency

Prior to the homeland joining the Free Republic Union, the Isle of Penguifornia used the currency of the homeland, the peseta, until 2010, when Castilla adopted the Club Penguin Gold Coin.

Language

The Isle of Penguifornia's main language is Spanish, and has been primarily used since Castilla colonized the island. However, since many penguins from the High Penguin Confederacy settled the island during the Platinum Rush and after the Khanzem War, English is still spoken in the large cities of San Freezeisco and Los Penguines.

Geography

The islands have a polar climate with temperatures from -32°c to 10°c in the summer and -55°c to about -5°c in the winter. The islands have about 70 inches of precipitation annually and also experience northeasterly winds known as the San Antonio Winds. The islands were made, possibly 5.3 million years ago, by an undersea volcano which created the islands. The islands are full of sedimentary and igneous rocks as well. The coast of the island has beautiful sandy beaches. The Isle of Penguifornia has some mountain ranges, including the Santa Berita Mountain range near Los Pinguenes and the Sierra Nublado in the north. The western side of the island is mainly a semi-desert climate, while the eastern side of the island is pure desert that is sparcely populated. The Northern side of the island has many beautiful forests home to some of the tallest trees in Antarctica, which are the Redwoods and the Sequoias. The central region of the island is famed for its extremely fertile land, and it is where many large farms, orchards, and vinyards can be found. The island has it's lowest elevation at -2 ft., in an unmarked Location in Valle de Muerte, and it's highest at 1,892 ft. on Mount Pinti. The islands also boast many fish and other plant life, such as Palm Trees, Dorkugese Mathetrees, Jacklon Trees and Pine Trees as well.

Flag, Motto, Anthem

Flag

Penguifornia.png

The Flag of Penguifornia was made in the 1800's when a group of penguins wanted to make the island independant from the High Penguin Confederacy. However, the republic was short lived, but the HPC allowed the island to keep their flag. The only change was that instead of "Republica Penguifornia", they put "La Colonia de Penguifornia". The Pear on the flag represents one of the most abundant fruits grown on the island, which was the pear.

Education

The education system here is mediocre, according to the University of South Pole City. Most penguins attend school from Grades K-12 and get a high school diploma, if they pass high school. The education system here is not well structured, but the teaching methods are very efficient. The country has several universities: The University of Southern Penguifornia, the University of Santa Diega and the University of Los Penguines. After this, most penguins get jobs and start families.

Inhabitants

  • Penguins (77% of the population)
  • Puffles (23% of the population)

Villains

  • Mwa Mwa Penguins (1,000 in the country)
  • Walruses (32 in the country)
  • Robbers, Muggers
  • Gangsters
  • Some Japalandese terrorists (est. 5657, to this day, they have not forgiven what they did to them)

Crime

Though the island is relatively safe, there are a few unsafe neighborhoods in the suburb areas of Los Pinguinos and Santa Francesca. Firstly, Santa Francesca's bad area, known as the city of Pinewood, has a bad area of Gangsters from the Antarctic Mainland. However, the several bad neighborhoods in the Los Pinguinos area consist of Caltexican, Cruzeño, and Antarctic Mainland gangs. Gangs from Los Pinguines are well known for spreading back to their homelands, causing trouble there too.

Culture

Life

The citizens of Pengufornia have various different waking times due to their type of career they may have. For children, schools start from around 7:45 - 8:30, depending on what school district the children may be going to. Many citizens during the weekdays like to wake up early anyways, eat breakfast, and drop off their children before going to work because the Isle of Penguifornia is famous for it's numerous freeways that go almost everywhere. Ninety-Eight percent of the citizens of the isle of penguifornia own a car, which also means that the Isle of Penguifornia gets a lot of freeway traffic dayly.

Sports

Because of it's relatively warm weather, the Isle of Penguifornia is home to various types of sports. During the summer and springtime, most penguins and puffles like to enjoy playing Soccer, American Football, Baseball, and Swimming. Most penguin and puffle children usually are on registered official teams for their sports and tend to have competitions every Saturday. Other recreational sports include Martial Arts, Boating, Archery, Hunting, Bicicling, and Hiking.

During the wintertime, the southern area of Penguifornia does not snow. (The north does.) Yet, the preferred sports of Penguifornia during the winter would be Hockey and Iceskating (which in the South is done in ice rinks), skiing, and snowboarding in the mountains.

Cuisine

The Isle of Penguifornia is very diverse because of the many cultures that have settled in the land. Wierdly enough, it's homeland, Castilla, did not give a lot of influence to Penguifornia's cuisine. The Isle of Penguifornia's cuisine mainly came from the High Penguin Confederacy (what would now be called the USA), Caltexico, Japaland, Zhou, South Joseon, Liguria, and some other minor ones. However, the isle does not have an official cuisine; it differs in each family.
