The Penguin Miners Co. is the only large mining company in USA, and the biggest in Antarctica. It operates more than twelve mines, 2/3 of which are also owned by them. The mining company digs for gold, silver, coal, iron ore, copper and oil, which are essential to everyday penguin life. The company was founded in 2000 and commenced operations with the former Van Houten Mine in The Kingdom of Happyface141. It's main mine is at the Mine, based in Club Penguin, but offices are based at South Pole City's outskirts, next to the mine situated there.

History[edit]

The Penguin Miners Co., formerly AMA, was founded after the USA was formed in 2000. Illegal mining companies and other minor operations in Colonial Antarctica were closed and only one mining company would be given the license to mine in the USA. Two mining companies, Frostborough Mining Co-operation and the Internataional UnitedTerra Association of Miners (IUTM). Many thought this was unfair, considering the fact that they are not USA-based companies. Thus, they formed the "Antarctica Mining Association" or AMA. They were officially given the license after convincing the government that they were based in USA.

Two unused mines, formerly owned by illegal mining companies, were eventually operated by Penguin Miners Co. One was the Van Houten Mine, named after the mine's founder. It became the main base for the AMA. There was also an unnamed mine at the outskirts of South Pole City, which was obtained by the company, too. The owner of both mines are controlled under the USA government, thus, they had to follow their strict rules and environmental regulations.

They eventually acquired both properties fully from the USA government, after they struck a deal in 2002. They had full control of both mines, and eventually set up a full office next to the Van Houten Mine. More were employed to work, and the mining company became the top in Antarctica, mainly due to to their low opposition and competition.

In 2005, they shifted their base to Club Penguin Island and renamed themselves Penguin Miners Co.. They turned a cave into a mine, which became the main base today. They also built an attraction there that increased profits. They built a further three mines, in the list below (listed in terms of when they became a Penguin Miners Co. Mine). In 2006, they built three further mines. The Rough Ross Mine contained deposits of oil sand, and a subsidiary was founded, known as "Penguin Oil Co.". This was abolished after the USA closed it down, stating "it was illegal and that another company had the official license and that they could continue operations under the current name". The subsidiary was terminated, and the income turned into a fraction of Penguin Miners Co.'s annual revenue. This boosted their economic status.

The Van Houten Mine, which was operated by the Penguin Miners Co., eventually closed down in January 2007, but was turned into a tourist attraction by Puff Flags in 2008. The unnamed mine was renamed the "Gold Coin Mine", and was renovated fully. It is still under a mine opened after it as it is not a main base. The main base comes first.

Four mines were set up by the defunct mining company, Minemakers. Penguin Miners Co. annexed them, and after Minemakers' collapse under their ownership, the USA government acquired it for themselves. Minemakers included the Lowlaw East Mine, the only mine owned by a third party other than the mining company and the USA government (though it leans to the side of the USA, considering the fact it is owned by the mayor of Lowlaw Island).

They celebrated their tenth anniversary in March 2010. As of 2013, they currently operate in 14 mines, 8 of which they own.

Current Mines[edit]

Owned and Operated[edit]

The Mine, Club Penguin Island[edit]

The Mine mines for gold, mainly used to make coins. More and leftover gold is shipped to other parts of the USA. The Mine is the least industrialized mine that Penguin Miners Co. owns and operates. All minerals are recovered via shovel and pickaxe, and are later shipped to the surface via mine cart. It's also the smallest mine operated by Penguin Miners Co.

Gold Coin Mine, outside South Pole City[edit]

The Gold Coin Mine is the second largest mine Penguin Miners Co. operates. It mines large quantities of gold, and produces the most revenue out of any of their mines. It also has the second largest amount of equipment in any of their mines. It's their flagship mine, and is only half an hour away from their headquarters.

The Quarries, Trans-Antarctic Mountains[edit]

The Quarries is the largest mine operated by Penguin Miners Co. It also houses the most equipment in 1 mine. It's nestled in the mountains of Trans-Antarctica. It mines a large quantity of iron ore. It's the largest mine in Antarctica, as is it the largest iron ore mine. Alone, it produces 44% of all of Antartica's iron ore, which gets turned into steel.

Shiverpool Mine, Antarctic Peninsula[edit]

The Shiverpool Mine is a copper mine located around Shiverpool. It's the only mine of Penguin Miners Co. that mines copper. It's also the only mine owned by the company that uses a rail system to ship material off-site.

Fish-Slapping Mine, West Pengolia[edit]

The Fish-Slapping Mine is Penguin Miners Co.'s second smallest mine, located in the heart of West Pengolia. Collectively, it's the least productive mine owned by the Penguin Miners Co., due to restrictions placed by Penghis Khan on how much can be mined in a certain time period. It mines iron ore. Penguin Miners Co. is contemplating on whether it should be shut down or not.

Rough Ross Mine, Ross Island[edit]

The Rough Ross Mine' is the most remote mine owned and operated by the company. As Ross Island is an abandoned place, many barrels of oil plug up in stockyards around the mine. Ships come to pick up the oil in bi-weekly increments. It's their only mine that mines oil. It's the most environmentally unstable mine in Antarctica.

Pengumine, Penguville[edit]

The Pengumine is a small mine and the only copper mine run by Penguin Miners Co. It also has the most direct shipping out of any mine as it's located a very short distance from the port of Penguville, where there's almost always a company ship waiting.

Fjord Mine, Freezeland[edit]

The Fjord Mine is a silver mine in the mountains of Freezeland. It's the 3rd largest mine operated by Penguin Miners Co., and is the largest silver mine in Antarctica. It's also Penguin Miners Co.'s only silver mine.

Ice Mine, Weddell[edit]

The Ice Mine is a deep underground coal mine owned by Penguin Miners Co. and is stationed deep under Weddell. It's the only coal mine owned by Penguin Miners Co. and is the largest coal reserve in all of Antarctica. It's Penguin Miners Co.'s newest mine.

Pole Mine, outside Inland[edit]

The Pole Mine is the second largest gold mine in Antarctica. It's mainly mined by a company especially established solely for mining the Pole Mine, and is the second largest mining company in Antarctica. However, Penguin Miners Co. is still much bigger. Penguin Miners Co. assists them in extracting the gold from the ground.

Lowlaw East Mine, Lowlaw Island[edit]

The Lowlaw East Mine is a small underground mine heavily assisted by Penguin Miners Co., yet owned by the Lowlaw Island government. It extracts gold.
