Raymond Jade or often called Emo Trash or Skull-hat, previously Mutey and very rarely Ray by his best "friend" and designated bully, Alexander Yeager and R.J. by his Puffle, Erick, is an emotionally distressed Emoguin who suffers from social anxiety. Ray spends most of his time at home in his bedroom writing poetry about his feelings, doodling on the side of old homework papers or venting to Erick about his problems. Raymond doesn't show much emotion around others but doesn't hesitate to pour all of his feelings onto Erick.

Early Life[edit]

Raymond Jade was born to two busy parents who weren't at home a lot, so Raymond began to learn how to take care of himself. He experienced deep stages of depression at a young age, due to him thinking his parents didn't love him. When his parents occasionally did come home from their many business trips, they would bring him back gifts that began to mean less and less to him. At age five, they decided to enroll him into the Antarctic Academy to help him get an education (and to keep him out of their hair for just a bit longer).

He was quiet everyday and learned as much as he could, which wasn't very much at all. From a young age, he liked darker colors more than brighter ones to show how sad he was. Nobody spoke to him in school and he was just fine with that; he liked being alone. The teachers were concerned about his antisocial nature and often attempted to call his parents with no success. They just didn't care enough about their poor little boy.

Meeting Erick[edit]

Soon after entering school, it was a calm day in the plaza. Ray was bundled up tight in his signature black hoodie that was far too big for his small frame. He was walking around in the forest which was the only place where he could get a speck of clarity away from his depressing young life, when he saw a dark, fuzzy shape hopping out of a bush. It looked up at Raymond, who quickly realized it was a Puffle. The black Puffle shook its spiked up fur that had one sky-blue streak. Kneeling down, Raymond rubbed his sleeve-covered flipper across the top of the Puffle. It reluctantly nuzzled into his palm.

After a few minutes of petting, the Puffle looked up at him with dark and dull eyes. Feeling pity for his new, stray friend, he carried him home. Raymond gently placed him on his bed where he brought him some freshly picked O'Berries. After a few minutes of him eating, silence and the Puffle getting used to his surroundings, he finally spoke. "My name's Erick." Caught off guard, Raymond turned around and looked at Erick. "You speak?" he gasped in his frail, raspy voice. "Most Puffles can," it replied, eating the last of the O'Berries. "Thanks for giving me a home."

"Oh, o-of course." Raymond stuttered, still a bit surprised. Since they were out of the reflection of the sunlight against the snow, Raymond noticed a small scratch on Erick's face, right above his mouth. A red drop trickled out of it and stained his night-colored fur. "I'll be right back!" Raymond told the Puffle, absconding to the restroom where he got a Band-aid for the Erick. He skillfully peeled it open and neatly placed it right on the cut. "Thanks." Erick said without cracking a smile, much like Raymond. "What's your name?"

"M-my name?" Raymond asked. "It's Raymond... Raymond Jade." That was the beginning of their long-lasting friendship.

Growing Up[edit]

After his first two years in school, penguins began to notice him; much to his dismay. After that, he tried his hardest to go unnoticed. It didn't really work with his outward appearance, lonely character and need to be at least three feet away from any penguin at all costs. Raymond was mostly worried about people socializing with him which would lead to him speaking and he didn't want anyone to hear his voice. He thought it was silly sounding and annoying, as well as awkward with his uncontrollable stutter.

He tried his hardest to blend in with the other students by playing average sports, eating casual lunches, doing normal things, making mediocre grades. He even bought a teal jacket and a black skull hat to make himself look contemporary. The only thing he couldn't do was speak and that made him stick out like a sore thumb. He never had to speak in class though as he gave all of his teachers forged notes where he wrote that he was unable to speak in class due to a throat problem. That worked in all his classes, but not in normal day-to-day conversation.

In the third grade, bullies began to set their targets on the silent and petite Emoguin. Raymond wasn't really intimidated and annoyed as much as surprised. One of the first bullies to lay a flipper on the poor boy was none other than Alexander Yeager. While Ray was carrying his books and blending in with the rest of the students walking to their classrooms, Alex and his friends had shoved his belongings out of his flippers. They all quickly dispersed in order to not get caught by the teachers. Raymond simply sighed and began to gather his items as quick and normal-looking as he could. Being late would certainly make him look abnormal.

Bully or Buddy?[edit]

Alex's bullying tactics against Ray became more and more direct. He went from shoving to tripping to teasing. Finally, Alex walked up to Ray as he stepped out of the restroom in the full hallway. "Yo, mutey. Why don't you ever speak? Cat got your tongue? Do you even have a voice?" The towering red penguin stood at least an average Puffle's height above Ray's head. His eyes, as wide as saucers, even seemed to have an ominous glow about them. Ray stayed silent and tried to walk past the bully, but Alex blocked his way. "Nah... I want to hear your voice, kid. You can't leave 'til you say something." Alex smirked and waited patiently. Ugh, this bozo is gonna get me late for class! Maybe I can just sneak past him, he thought slyly.

Trivia[edit]

  • Raymond is sort of a double-sided reference and joke referring to the shows Everybody Hates Chris and Everybody Loves Raymond, due to the fact Raymond is hated, disrespected and ignored by most, but not a parody.
