Renegade Riots is the debut collaborative album by Terrain rapper DJ Crow and Antarctican rapper Joe-Q, both of whom are credited as Uprising, released on August 5, 2012 by Colossal Records and Stone Empire. Recording sessions for the album took place at various recording locations, beginning in November 2011. The first single, "$$$", was released in March 2012 with the following single, "Jethro", released in late July 2012. Two more singles followed after the release of the album. Long time production collaborate TrillBron participated in the production and songwriting, as well as Yusei. All the producers who laid down their first production works in Rockhopper's Ballads (2011) worked on Renegade Riots with the two rappers, along with many other producers.
The album debuted at number one on the Terrain Albums Chart, selling 860,914 copies in its first week. Before the album's release, two singles were released - "$$$" and "Jethro" - both of which attained chart success and many freestyle remakes, especially "Jethro". Upon its release, Renegade Riots received generally positive reviews from music critics, who commended its original production and the rappers' performances. The guest performers on the album include newcomer David Livingston, Flynn Terence and Cadence, not including sampled Jethro Collings. Six non-single songs charted in the Top 100 in UnitedTerra.
Background and recording[edit]
Originally intended as a five-track EP by DJ Crow and Joe-Q, Renegade Riots was revealed by Crow to be a full-length album in a March 2012 interview. He said in the interview that they planned to record all around UnitedTerra. Production for the album began in November 2011 in DJ Crow's igloo in Club Penguin and continued during available times in DJ Crow's and Joe-Q's respective schedules at recording locations around UnitedTerra and the USA.
