The Shops Island Baseball Association (more commonly known as SIBA, pronounced sigh-buh) is the association behind all of the major league baseball taking place in Shops Island and it's territories. In addition, SIBA chooses the best players from all of the division teams, and they become a player for the Sluggers, Shops Island's national baseball team that faces off against teams from other nations.
SIBA is headquartered in Shops City's "Snowbucks Park", an industrial area funded by Snowbucks Coffee that contains numerous businesses (including a Snowbucks office) and a stadium for the Sluggers.
History[edit]
Baseball had always been a favorite sport among Shops Island citizens and even the few native people that lived on Shops Island. This is because most of the people that moved to Shops Island came from the USA, and one of their favorite sports is baseball as well. In 2012, SIBA was officially created to help liven up baseball on shops, which had become somewhat dull.
When the Association was founded in July 2012, the first baseball field they planned was a home stadium for the Shops Island national team, the Shops Island Sluggers. Construction started soon after on a plot of land in the middle of the Financial District, donated by Shops City. However, between the August 2012 depression and the initiation of the Shops Island Transportation Plan, the city didn't have enough extra money to fund the field. Since the city nor SIBA could afford to fund the project, the latter went searching for a good source of funding for the field since it was the highest priority project. After some deliberation, they convinced Snowbucks Coffee to fund the stadium and anything else to be built around it, as long as it was named "Snowbucks Park". Later on in 2013 when Snowbucks decided to tear down their Clearwater Island office, they were given approval by SIBA to build their new Shops Island office in Snowbucks Park rather than purchasing land somewhere else.
In the years since SIBA's establishment, a total of 14 teams have been created (including the national Sluggers team), with the latest being the Delfino Dolphins in late 2015. The Vonkouver Mariners have the most Shops Series wins, winning in 2013 and 2015, with the Pelicans winning in 2014, and the Mermen in 2016.
