Sleeping Penguins IV

Set in 2025, this story is about the future of Lü Haowei. As chaos spread toward Antarctica and many nations fell, will the Man and his Triad survive. If they do, will they prosper again? Read to find out more.

Prologue

It was 16 October 2025. There was mass celebration in Honk Gong to mark the 20th anniversary of Lü Haowei's initiation as the Dragon Lord. By now, Honk Gong is de facto ruled by the Lü Triad. Sure, the quality of life was good, but Triad members wielding knives, guns and even rocket launchers patrolling the streets were rampant. The Zhouese government refused to do anything about it, as the Lü Family-run banks and industries paid the government tributes.

In the Dragon Lord's mansion, every important Zhouese gangsters gathered there. Oh, a majority of Zhouese gangsters worked for Haowei by now. The mansion looked more like a large and luxurious fortress compared to its state in 2005-a luxurious Castillian mansion.

'"老大万岁!'(Long live the Boss!)"

Chanted the Triad members as they were celebrating. Most of Honk Gong's female celebrities were there. They were here to either perform for Haowei or act as escorts for the important gangsters. Haowei himself was sitting on a golden throne at the fortress' main hall. His second-in-command/cousin and personal hitman-Lü Haoyang was sitting beside him. The scent of Doom Weed filled one room, while expensive Frankterrean Cream Soda flowed like a river in the fortress' pool. Gangsters and police officers-alike played poker in one of the gaming room, a minimum of 10,000 Pebbles bet, while the more flirty gangsters relaxed in a large hot tub, hot models cuddling them, in another.

In the midst of the celebration, Haowei got up from his throne, a golden goblet on his flipper.

Haowei:"Since the day I became the Dragon Lord of the Triad, all of us have been living the good life. Millions of Pebbles entered our bank accounts. Now, I propose a toast to myself."

The Dragon Head drank the beverage in his goblet. The massive crowd of criminals cheered and drank their drink after their Boss.

Haowei:"Of course, I can't done it with the help of my cousin. He eliminated troublemakers and those who dared to challenge us."

Haoyang got up from his chair and toasted to the crowd. After that, he took a sip from the goblet, which the crowd followed as well.

When everyone continued partying, Haowei got up from his throne again, this time without anyone noticing. As he walked to another room, 2 beautiful models accompanied him, supposedly to make out. Things like this would be fun, if they weren't disturbed. Just as they were about to enter Haowei's room, a gangster arrived in front of him and bowed. By the way, Haowei's wife was dead by now.

Gangster:"Boss, I stole the item you wanted."

The gangster took out a needle filled with a sort of liquid. This liquid was an experimental prototype developed by top Zhouese scientists. It's function? Allegedly to prolong or even grant immortality to the top government officials and the Communjst Party elite. Haowei took the needle and was about to inject himself with it before the gangster stopped him.

Gangster:"Boss stop! This isn't tested!"

Haowei:"There's a test subject for this?"

Gangster:"Err, no."

Haowei:"You know what? I am going to be the test subject."

When Haowei attempted to inject himself a second time, the gangster stopped him.

Gangster:"Maybe this is an attempt by your enemies to kill you, boss."

The Dragon Lord looked around. There was blood on the purple carpet, dripping from the gangster.

Haowei:"Hey, are you ok?"

Gangster:"I am fine, boss. Just got shot at my back. That's ok as I am wearing a bulletproof vest."

Haowei stated thinking again. Tiny but visible smoke could be seen by the crime kingpin emitting from the gangster's back. Suddenly the gangster dropped dead.

Haowei:"Oh crap."

Haowei closed his eyes and injected himself with the needle. Nothing happened. A few seconds later, he started shaking moderately. It felt like getting shocked by lightning, but this wasn't painful. Within a few minutes, Haowei got knocked off the ground, causing him to fall into a state of unconsciousness.

Soon, the crime lord got up. In front of him was a Ninja-suit wearing bodyguard. A camouflaged sniper rifle was at his flippers. Gunshots and explosions could be heard.

Triad Ninja 1:"Sir, a large group of mercenaries invaded your fortress. Since many gangsters were intoxicated, we were losing initially. They also killed your Second-in-Command."

Haowei:"NOOOOOO!!!!!!"

Triad Ninja 1:"Not all hope is lost. We had called for reinforcement in the form of our Triad-owned mercenaries, Special Duties Unit (SDU) members and even the Honk Gongese Police Department to help us."

Haowei:"Cool. I got the feeling that we can't last long, though."

Two Ninja bodyguards arrived at the room too, wielding M16 with a M203 grenade launcher side attachment.

Triad Ninja 2:"I am afraid to say that we can't defend ourselves any longer, boss."

Haowei:"Keep defending. Utilize heavy-grade weaponry. Arm every gangsters with Miniguns if necessary. Set up sentry guns."

Triad Ninja 2 ran off to carry out his boss' orders. He was back in a matter of time.

Triad Ninja 2:"Everything done, sir."

Suddenly, from the other side, someone broke a hole through the ceiling. Aiming his sniper rifle, Triad Ninja 1 fired rapidly at the hole. Soon, after his magazine of ammo ran dry, 2 dead penguins dropped out of it, and jumped out 3 assassins.

The Ninjas and the assassins immediately engaged in combat. Quickly taking out a pistol, one of the assassin fired at Haowei and his guards, but missed. Ninja 2 and 3 fired their weapons at the assassins. They dropped down, obviously dead.

Haowei:"Ok let's flee!"

Haowei took out a revolver from his holster. The crime lord and the Ninjas were quick to escape from the under-assault fortress. As they ran down the streets, they were greeted by Honk Gongese police officers.

Haowei:"Try to set up a blockade here. Don't let them chase after me."

Police officers:"Yes sir!"

As another fact, Haowei was appointed the Comissioner of the HGPD after he ordered a hit on the last Comissioner. Could Honk Gong be more corrupt?!

Haowei:"Sergeant, get some of your men to follow me and give me a walkie-talkie."

The sergeant handed him the walkie-talkie and ordered some of his men to escort the Comissioner-Dragon Lord. As they were running through the streets, Haowei and his men met a blockade by the mercenaries. One of the Ninja fired a grenade at the mercenaries' armored truck.

BOOM!

The Ninjas/Police Officers engaged in a gunfight with the mercenaries. Haowei took out his walkie-talkie.

Haowei:"Trouble at Lü Street! Send your men!"

A few minutes later, 3 helicopters full of SDU members arrived at the scene of battle and started fighting the mercenaries. Eventually, the Dragon Lord and his men won the gunfight. Some of the mercenaries surrendered.

Haowei:"No mercy!"

Haowei shot all of the captives with his revolver.

Following more gun battles, Haowei and his men managed to reach the harbor. They went into his yacht

Haowei:"Man the mounted Miniguns. We are heading to Howloon Island."

Gangsters:"Yes sir."

Chapter 2:Exile and Grand Scheme

Soon, the yacht arrived in Howloon Island, which is part of Honk Gong.

Gangster 1:"Where are we going now, boss?"

Haowei:"The least suspected place-Howloon Walled City."

Howloon Walled City was a large slum. It's crowded, dirty and poor.

Haowei:"Relax guys, I got an underground base there."

On hearing that, the gangsters were relieved. They don't need to live in the slums.

Haowei saw a car. He stopped the driver.

Haowei:"Get out. You know who I am."

The scared driver immediately got out of his car and ran away, screaming.

Haowei:"It's good to be king."

The Dragon Lord and his men got into the car. After a short trip, they arrived at Howloon Walled City.

Haowei:"Follow me."

Haowei and his gangsters got out of his car. As they walked through the slums, the residents looked at the kingpin. Fear and terror seized them. Some other residents bowed to the Dragon Lord. Eventually, the gang arrived at a small store. Crates of Doom Weed piled up in it. They entered the store. After removing some crates, a secret passage to a basement was visible.

Haowei:"Get in."

Haowei opened the large metal entrance and walked downstairs. Just as the last gangster was about to follow him, Haowei stopped him.

Haowei:"Stop. Close the entrance and cover it with the crates again."

Gangster:"Yes sir."

When the gang got into the basement, the gangster carried out Haowei's order.

Meanwhile, the gang found an extremely large base. It was full of equipments. A tank was even parked in it.

Gangster:"How large is this place?"

Haowei:"Let's just say, half of Howloon Island."

Gangster:"Oh I see."

The gang went to their respective rooms and rested.

The next day, one of the gangster woke up. He saw the Dragon Lord talking to someone on a phone. He hanged up.

Gangster:"Who's that?"

Haowei:"Oh nothing. I am only withdrawing 1 trillion Pebbles from the Asiapelagoan Inter-Archipelago Bank."

Gangster:"That's a lot of cash, boss."

Haowei:"Screw that. For now, I am going to find out who tried to kill me."

Gangster:"What's our first act?"

Haowei:"We need to get intel from our spies."

Gangster:"Yes sir."

The gangster issued some commands to someone over a icePhone.

A few hours later, Haowei was drinking Cream Soda with some of his gangsters. They were chatting about life and general things, when one of his men came in the room.

Gangster:"Boss, we got two targets."

Haowei:"Who are they?"

Gangster:"A man called Mr. Shia and the Zhouese government."

The Dragon Lord's attention was caught by the low ranking thug when he mentioned Mr. Shia.

Mr. Shia was Haowei's second-in-command before Haoyang replaced him. Despite Shia being 4 years older than him, they still acted like a team. However, he got too greedy and corrupt from the money so Shia seceded from the Lü Triad and based himself in Japaland, free from Haowei's control.

Haowei:"Did you say...Mr. Shia?"

Gangster:"Yes sir. We need to kill him, despite him being your friend."

By now, Haowei's mind was completely consumed by darkness. He had no mercy or compassion for anyone by now.

Haowei:"Ok, kill him."

With that said, the boss walked away.

Haowei went to his room. He took out his phone again.

Haowei:"Hey Ah Kai! Tell the boys to embezzle at least 10 billion Pebbles from every nations that we serve, except Nexon."

Ah Kai:"Ok."

---

The scene switched to the Asiapelagoan Inter-Archipelago Bank's HQ. Employees were delivering their boss' orders to every branch. It was the largest embezzlement in Antarctica's history.

Within a few hours, the first pile of Pebbles was deposited into Haowei's bank accounts.

Haowei:"Excellent."

Gangster:"What is the cash for?"

Haowei:"For buying nuclear weapons."

Gangster:"Oh. WAIT WHAT?!?"

Haowei:"To threaten the Zhouese government."

Gangster:"Oh yeah. By the way, our assassins just arrived at Japaland."

Haowei:"Good."

Chapter 3:Donation and Assassination are the Ingredients for the Dish of Revenge

Three hitmen arrived at Jokio in a taxi. They took out their briefcases. After walking a mile, they reached their hotel. The three hitmen walked in casually.

Hitman 1:"We booked a room here. My name is Jonathan Chan."

The receptionist checked the database. Soon, she replied back to Jonathan.

Receptionist:"Ok. Your rooms are at the third floor. Room 25, 26 and 27."

The assassin squad went upstairs. When they reached their room, the assassins opened their briefcases. A fibre wire was revealed. They went downstairs again. This time, the assassins went to a restaurant. Mr. Shia was dining there.

Inside the restaurant...

Shia:"Ok guards. I want to dine alone. Get out."

The guards leaved. A few minutes later, Shia's meal was served - poisonous fugu.

Shia:"I like this..."

---

Meanwhile 2 of the assassins were watching Mr. Shia from the opposite building with a binocular.

Assassin 1:"He will die."

Assassin 2:"Yeah."

---

Shia took his first bits. Eventually, the hungry gangster finished the whole fish. He called one of his henchman to come in.

Shia:"Bring me that bottle of Cream Soda. I am feeling thirsty."

Henchman:"Yes, sir."

---

Assassin 1:"He'll die too. Japaland Cream Soda is poisonous."

Assassin 2:"Err, I just drank two bottle and now, I am fine."

Assassin 2 put down his binocular and drank from a bottle again.

Assassin 1:"Oh crap. What now?"

Assassin 2:"We got our third guy hiding in the closet behind our target."

Into a closet behind Mr. Shia, Assassin 3 was hiding. He took out his fibre wire. Suddenly, Assassin 1 contacted him via COMM.

Assassin 1 (COMM):" Strike now!"

The assassin came out of the closet. The target didn't notice someone behind him. Before Shia turned his back, the assassin, with his fibre wire, strangled the traitorous gangster.

Shia:"CRRAPPPPPPP!!!!!!!"

As Shia kept struggling, the fibre wire got tighter than ever. Soon, he stopped struggling. Within a few seconds, so did his heartbeat.

Assassin 3 (COMM):"Target dead."

Assassin 1 (COMM):"Evade security."

The assassin looked around. He saw an awesome katana and picked it up. Before he left, assassin 3 took a drink from the bottle of Cream Soda.

Assassin 3:"I thought they kill penguins."

As soon as they heard their boss struggling, the bodyguards ran back into the private room.

Bodyguard 1:"0_o YOU KILLED MY BOSS! FACD MY WRATH!"

Before the bodyguard could took out a nightstick, Assassin 3 knocked him down with the katana. He stabbed the other bodyguard before running out of the room. The assassin yelled.

Assassin 3:"DIE YOU REDNECKS!!!"

He went to one table and sliced it in half with his racial hatred. One of the redneck tried to take out his gun and shoot him, only to be chopped by the slightly mentally ill Zhouese.

The assassin quickly threw a smoke bomb on the floor, giving him time to escape. As soon as he got out of the restaurant, the other two assassins were waiting for him in a car.

Assassin 1:"Get in."

Assassin 3 got into the car. As the car was a convertible, he waved his katana at the crowd who assembled to look at him.

Assassin 3:"$%$#$<* YOU SON OF A BISCUIT!"

The three maniacs drove off into another day...

Back in Howloon Walled City, Haowei was holding a sack full of Pebbles.

Triad gangster 1:"What are you going to do boss?"

Haowei:"Just donating to these poor penguins."

As Haowei started walking with his men, he threw Pebbles at the crowd of people that respected him so much.

Haowei:"GET YOUR CASH! GET THEM FROM YOUR BOSS!"

The slum dwellers quickly grabbed the cash. They cheered wildly at the crime lord.

Dweller 1:"WOOHOO!"

Dweller 2:"Thanks boss!"

To summarize the day, let's just say that every penguin in Howloon Walled City got at least 350 Pebbles.

Chapter 3:The government sucks, I know

It was a few days after Haowei made it rain cash at Howloon Walled City. But disaster was bound to happen. And guess what? It just have to happen after a prosperous day. When most penguins were sleeping by now, one of the house exploded.

BOOM

The explosion was apparently caused by a gas leak. Not only did it awoke the population, it also injures thousands of them. It's good to see that nobody died in such an unexpected and normally fatal accident. The accident also sent Haowei's men awoke and alert, who believed that the accident was actually rigged.

Gangster 1:"Watch the gates."

Yelled one gangster while holding a Uzi. Another two was holding sniper rifles, on top of balcony, looking out for intruders. A third squad was wearing explosive-proof suits. They were supposed to watch out for more explosions.

Gangster Head:"Watch the Boss' back!"

Gangsters:"Yes sir!"

Meanwhile, three gangsters entered Haowei's room. The crime lord was there, with some of his most trusted lieutenants and Ninja Guards

Haowei:"What the hell happened? I don't trust these guys saying that it's Zhouese New Year and how I overslept and that the people are playing with fireworks."

Gangster:"A gas leak happened."

Haowei stared at his trusted lieutenants.

Lieutenant:"We believed that it isn't an accident boss. Someone rigged a gas stove."

Haowei:"It must be the government then. After all those cash I paid them, they still wouldn't leave me alone."

Lieutenants & Ninja Guards:"..."
