History[edit]
The first building built where the Studio stands today was a large farmhouse owned by a family of Batavian descent. The family had built the home in 1945 and lived there until 1963, when they moved away. The house was sold to a couple entrepreneurs that turned it into a cabaret in hopes that would attract visitors from nearby villages and the nearby city of Inland. A year later, the business was not doing well, and the owners put some of the land across the street for sale. Luckily, a theatrical firm purchased the land and immediately built a theater across the street. In order to save the cabaret, the theater company also purchased the building from the firm and promoted can-can shows and comedy nights to nearby city folk. The old farm house was remodeled and expanded to create a large studio something similar to the theater across the street, but this time with more tables and chairs and a smaller stage. The new cabaret became known as "Studio 45" since the farm house was built in 1945. The cabaret's popularity increased as the can-can shows were replaced with popular singers of the day, attracting large amounts of fans to the Studio. In 1977, the theater owners sold the building to a group of young businessmen from Inland who were involved in the stage lighting industry. In hopes of making the Studio more popular and more "egalitarian", the new management removed the stage and replaced it with a disk jockey desk. They placed a large multicolored dance floor made of flashing lights in the middle of the room and placed a large ball with tons of mirrors on it above the floor. The multicolored lights installed on the ceiling would shine on the large multi-mirror ball, reflecting the lights onto the floor as the ball was spinning. This ball became known as the Disco ball after the type of music that the Studio began to play. Disco was born in the Studio due to the innovation of new, popular bands that came to play in the Studio as well as innovative DJ's. That same year in 1977, the Studio became extremely popular, attracting penguins and puffles from all around the continent to try out the trendiest Dance Club in the known Antarctic world in the 1970's. The Studio was still in the middle of nowhere, though it's attraction of large crowds led to the construction of a large hotel resort nearby and a couple more theaters next door. Although new music genres like pop and rap rose to prominence in the 1980's and 1990's, Studio 45 continued to attract dancers from all over. In 1997, when The Club founded South Pole City, Studio 45 was incorporated into the community, and tons of penguins and puffles began to start building skyscrapers and apartments around the quickly growing metropolis. More penguins and puffles were beginning to visit the area, and the dirt street was now being paved with asphalt. The owners of the Studio, now rich business tycoons that had also become successful in other pursuits, began to build a skyscraper on top of the Studio, turning the Studio into the bottom level of a skyscraper. Studio 45, now in the middle of an urban community, survived from a visible decline in the late 90's and continues to be a trendy and vintage establishment that boasts dancers from all over the Antarctic.
