This article has a Major Mistake, which may be highlighted in red on the page. Please look over the article, find the mistake, research the topic, and correct it ASAP. If you do not understand what the mistake is, then post your thoughts on this article's talk page or comment on the problem report. |
This template is for articles with mistakes on them. Fill in the field of the mistake (like math, biology, art, etc.) after a pipe symbol, like this:
{{Mistake|(input field here)}}
After you post the template, highlight the mistake on the article in red (like this) so that other users understand why the template is on there.
If you come across an article with a mistake, please correct it. Once you have corrected it, take out the highlighting and remove this template from the page.
Examples of Mistakes[edit]
- "The nuclear plant runs on nuclear fusion, by decaying uranium and neptunium."
Mistake: Uranium decay is an example of nuclear fission, not fusion. This would be a Chemistry Mistake.
- "The penguins shook hands to confirm the deal."
Mistake: Penguins don't have hands, they have flippers. This would be an Anatomy Mistake.
- "The meteroid flew into the comet, causing a loud explosion that could be heard from over a mile away."
Mistake: Space is a vacuum, therefore nothing can be heard there. This would be an Astronomy Mistake.
- "'That will cost $4.50,' said the clerk."
Mistake: Antarctica runs on different currencies, like radians, fishes, pebbles, and coins. Not dollars, nor cents. This would be an Economy Mistake.
Exceptions[edit]
- This templates is for pages with recurring mistakes, not minor ones. If the mistake only occurs once in the page, just correct it. You don't have to put up the template on every single article you see with one mistake! Unless the mistake occurs several times in the content, do not put this template up on the article. You can post something on the talk page instead.
- Exception: If the mistake is visual (i.e. an image), you can put up the template. See below.
- Pictures with geographic, anatomic, or any other kind of visual mistake do count.
- If a image has a visual mistake, don't put this template on the image's page, rather, put it on all the pages that contain the image.
- Grammar or Spelling DO NOT count. You can easily correct that sort of mistake instead of putting up a large, bulky template.
