"The Party Starts Now" is a song recorded by Antarctican singer Cadence, released exclusively as a promotional single for the Club Penguin: The TV Series - Greatest Hits Soundtrack (2013). The song was released on August 30, 2012 for digital download. It was originally recorded to just be used as the theme song for the Antarctican reality-comedy show Club Penguin: The TV Series, but due to the positive response from the public the full version was made available to purchase. The electro-dance song was written by Cadence and brother Peng Guin, along with a variety of co-writers, while being produced by David Tennyson. It is the opening track off the soundtrack. The song managed to chart commercially well - peaking at number 1 in Club Penguin and within the Top 15 of many other regions while being recorded in June 2012. Rapper-songwriter Peng Guin is uncredited for his brief verse appearance.
Originally DJ Crow was supposed to pen the track and was requested to include it on Cadence's third studio album Tempo (2012) - however Crow, the executive producer of the album, thought the song wasn't strong enough to be on the album. Despite this the song was released just four days after the premiere of the lead single off Tempo, against the wishes of Club Penguin Music Records. However the song created buzz for both sets of albums.

Background[edit]
In June 2012, after the cast for Club Penguin: The TV Series was selected, David Tennyson approached Cadence during recording for her Tempo album, and asked her if she could contribute the opening theme for the series. Cadence commented "I thought it was an exciting opportunity to work with the Penguin Network after writing a song for Willy and Kody, so I took a chance and got to work writing it. Accompanying me was my little brother Peng Guin, the star of the series, and my long-time mentor DJ Crow. We finished writing it in under 24 hours, and it came out great!" She then said that she wanted a song that got penguins up and dancing. Although only half of the song is used for the opening theme, she released a full version on PengTube that August, which also debuted on the radio that same day. She plans on helping Penguin Network more in the future. After contributing lyrics to the single, Peng Guin also recorded a short rapping part in the middle of the song. "I've never done anything like it." Peng said. After showing the song to David Tennyson, Cadence said "The song came out perfect. I think it was one of the best I've ever written. With Peng's help, of course."
Critical reception[edit]
The song has gotten positive reviews.
Chart performance[edit]
On October 28, 2012, "The Party Starts Now" debuted at number 1 on the CP Singles Chart. It remained at number 1 for 6 weeks.
Music video[edit]
The music video was uploaded on PengTube on October 28, 2012. It features Cadence spinning turntables in the Night Club. The power goes out, so all the dancing penguins go to the rooftop, where the song ends. Herbert P. Bear makes an unexpected cameo. The music video was filmed by Franky and Peng's co-star, Gloria Walker. "It took a few hours to shoot." Cadence commented. "There was so much going on in the video, it was like WOOOOOAH." She said that it was hard to get penguins moving from one place to another. "We had to call Aunt Arctic, PH, Rockhopper, Gary the Gadget Guy, and even more penguins to get the music video done. It was the hardest experience ever, but so much fun!"
