Chapter 11:Close Calls

The mountains of the Darktonian Realm soon came into view. Their unforgiving appearance reminds a penguin of their owner, the villainious Darktan. S2 and Clovis were already asking for trouble.

Clovis:"Hey, we could visit the Pengolian Embassy! I hear they have one there!"

S2:"No. We're going to visit Darktan's Mansion."

Clovis:"NOOOOO! Come on S2! We can't go in there without being caught!"

S2:"That's the idea!"

S2 and Clovis then landed at the front doors of the mansion. Clovis timindly knocked, only to have the door open automatically by itself.

Clovis:"Heheh! Nobody home! Let's go S2!"

S2:"Not so fast!"

S2 pulled Clovis into the dark mansion. They then started walking through manny corridors until they reached Darktan's ballroom.

Clovis:"Doesn't Darktan ever light up his place?"

Darktan then turned on the lights to reveal himself with The Black Knight, Fisxh, WishFlyX, and Xellina.

Clovis:"AAAAHHH! Antibodies of some of our beloved friends!"

S2:"Except for Xellina....."

Clovis:"Oh yeah. But still!"

Darktan:"Haha. Swiss Ninja called and said that you'd be coming. I was able to prepare myself too. MINIONS ATTACK!"

The Black Knight charged at S2 and Clovis. S2 then made a forcefield for himself and Clovis.

Fisxh:"HEHEHE! You can't sheild yourself forever!"

Fisxh threw a grenade at the forcefield, and the forcefield desintegrated when it exploded.

S2:"Clovis, deal with The Black Knight! I'll take care of the rest!"

Fisxh:"But he's the X-Antibody of Gottfried!"

S2:"I know that! Gottfried and him have been enemies since childhood! Do it for Gottfried!"

S2 then handed Clovis a sword.

The Black Knight then charged at Clovis and lunged his sword at him, but Clovis then blocked it and the two of them soon were in a heavy duty sword fight that required both of them to hold both flippers on their swords as they swung at each other. Meanwhile, S2 then used his shadow powers to zap at Fisxh, WishFlyX, Darktan, and Xellina. Fisxh was using his whip, Xellina was using a Snowbullet Gun, WishFlyX was using his Knicicle, as Darktan stood and watched. Clovis then swung at the helmet of The Black Knight, and it knocked him out.

Clovis:"Hey, I did it! Let's get out of here!"

S2 then took out a smoke bomb and in an instant, it exploded, and S2 flew Clovis out of the Darktonian Realm.

Clovis:"Phew! At least we were able to get through the Darktonian Realm."

S2:"Alright. Now we head for the peaceful Trans-Antarctican capital of Pengu Town."

S2 and Clovis then arrived in Pengu Town half an hour later. They landed on the Pengu Town Boardwalk, which had a nice view of the ocean.

Clovis:"Ahhhh. At least we will get some peace for now...."

Back in West Pengolia....

Swiss Ninja had heard from Darktan about their escape, and now knew that they were heading for Pengu Town.

Swiss:"Alright guys! We're going on a bombing run!"

Austin:"What??"

Swiss:"Quick! Head for the airport immediately, and get into your Swisserschmitt Bf 109! It's time we chase down the two remaining Hochstadt travelers on our own!"

Austin:"ALRIGHT TROOPS, LETS ROLL!"

The Bounty Hunters, Swiss Ninja, and the regiment of RDA Troopers then headed for the airport to board their B-2 Spirits, LATTUs, Swisserschmitt Bf 109 aircraft, and took off with Swiss Ninja's B-2 Spirit in the front of the V formation.

Some time later, S2 and Clovis were browsing the Seafood and Fruits Market in Pengu Town. Suddenly, the loud hum of many airplanes caught the attention of many of the penguins. Suddenly, a penguin screamed, and everyone began running inside the buildings.

Clovis:"What's going on S2?!"

S2:"I'm not sure...."

S2 and Clovis then saw a whole bunch of Swisserschmitts and B-2 Spirits fly over the city.

S2 and Clovis:"AAAHHH! The Snoss Luftwaffe!"

Swiss Ninja spotted the two penguins from the air.

Swiss - SQUADCOM:"There they are! OPEN FIRE!"

A whole bunch of bullets started firing at Clovis and S2, as they began running for their lives down the abandoned market streets...

Austin dropped a bomb, which made Clovis and S2 jump and fall to the ground. They soon got up and continued running. Then, ahead of the street, a bunch of LATTUs landed and hordes of RDA Troopers started running towards them!

Clovis:"AAAAH! We're cornered! S2! Fly us out of here!"

S2:"But..."

Clovis:"It's our only chance! You can risk a dogfight, can't you?!"

S2 sighed and grabbed Clovis and flew straight up into the air. The RDA Troopers then started firing at S2, having one of the lazer bullets hitting him.

S2:"Ow!"

Clovis:"Come on! Keep going!"

Clovis then took out S2's Lazer Blaster and started firing down at the passing RDA Troopers.

S2:"Hey, Clovis! Don't worry about them! We got Swisserschmitts on our tail!"

Swiss Ninja - SQUADCOM:"They're going into the air! RDA Troopers return to the LATTUs and let's take this battle to the air!"

Clovis:"Phew...at least no one in Pengu Town was harmed."

S2:"And little damage occured also. We better lead the Snoss away from the city to avoid trouble."

Clovis fired the blaster at an RDA Pilot's Swisserschmitt, and was able to knock it down.

Clovis:"Yes! Score one for the Hochstadt...."

Swiss Ninja fired at Clovis and knocked the blaster out of Clovis's flipper.

Clovis: O_O

S2:"Well, I guess we will just have to go to the Sub-Antarctic, which is our next destination...."

Clovis:"All right! We better find an island to hide on!"

S2:"Here, take the map!"

S2 continued dodging the bullets and missles that were aimed at him.

S2:"At least I'm more agile than those metal beasts!"

Clovis quickly scanned the map.

Clovis:"Hey, what about Sunday Harbor?"

S2:"Sunday Harbor? Alright!"

S2 then flew to Sunday Harbor....only still to have the Snoss be on their tail.

Clovis:"Aw great, they're going to bomb Sunday Harbor! We can't stay here!"

S2:"We can't stay anywhere without having the Snoss bomb a city!"

Clovis:"Errr...wait....how bout Ed Island? I hear they've got an Air Force!"

S2:"Good idea!"

S2 then flew over Ed Island....

EDFan12345 was relaxing in his Citadel when he began to hear the humming of the Snoss Swisserschmitts. He then looked out the window to see them heading for the island.

EDFan: "GUARDS! SEND OUT THE AIR FORCE! WE'RE BEING INVADED!"

A few minutes later, aircraft from the Ed Island Air Force were deployed into the air.

Swiss - SQUADCOM:"What the??? Oh no! Drat! Troops, prepare for a battle!"

Austin - SQUADCOM:"The Ed Island Air Force!"

S2 and Clovis then quickly hid near the abse of the Citadel.

Swiss - SQUADCOM:"TASTE MY SNOSS FURY!"

Swiss Ninja blew up two unmanned aircraft that were the first to reach the Snoss invaders.

Austin - SQUADCOM:"Wait, is that just me or are those airplanes having the royal Snoss insignia?"

Swiss - SQUADCOM:"Nope, they have the Snoss insignia on their vertical stablilzer, but they didn't get my permission!"

Austin then fired a missle at another Ed Island Air Force unmanned aircraft.

Clovis:"The Snoss Luftwaffe is no match for the Ed ISland Air Force! They're clearly outnumbered!"

S2:"It will be a matter of time before SN invades the place."

Clovis:"NO! We can't have that happen! Not because of us!"

S2:"So you suggest that we leave again?"

Clovis:"YES!"

S2 and Clovis then flew into the sky again, immediately catching Swiss Ninja's attention.

Swiss Ninja:"Hey, they're getting away! After them!"

The Snoss then forgot about the Ed Island Air Force and began chasing S2 and Clovis again.

S2:"We can't be chased forever Clovis!"

Clovis:"Then we will have to confront them then!"

S2:"We're heading for Dorkugal...."

Swiss - SQUADCOM:"ARG. I'm running out of fuel. I'll need to make a stop somewhere...."

Austin - SQUADCOM:"Yeah, me too."

Swiss - SQUADCOM:"Hey wait, Nuke Island is nearby! We can stop by there quickly for some refueling."

Austin - SQUADCOM:"Copy that."

Clovis saw the Snoss Luftwaffe turn away.

Clovis:"I guess they're running out of gas. This would be the perfect time for some rest in Dorkugal, no?"

S2:"Yeah, sure."

S2 and Clovis soon landed on the Dorkugal Bridge in Dorkugal.

Clovis:"Well, at least we will be safe for now."

S2:"I know that we won't be able to stay here tonight either."

Clovis:"I know."

S2:"Perhaps we can get some grub?"

Clovis:"No thank you. The Dorkugese like greasy foods from McDoodles, unlike myself. I can't stand too much greasy food."

S2:"Alright then. Lets tour the island and then you can write your journal again. Ok?"

Clovis and S2 then visited the Googolplex, which was pretty much where all of Dorkugal was.

An excerpt from the Gottfried-Clovis Journal:

Today has been another unexpected day....Swiss Ninja still hasn't given up on hunting us. We flew to the Darktonian Realm and into Darktan's Mansion only to be expected, and we later had to leave the peaceful Trans-Antarctican capital of Pengu Town after Swiss and his Luftwaffe chased us across the Sub-Antarctic to Dorkugal, where I now write this entry in the Googolplex, which is basically where everything in Dorkugal is. I know SN will return real soon once he refuels his aircraft, and that we will have to leave again.

While Clovis was writing, S2 had dosed asleep. Suddenly, the hum of the Snoss Airplanes could be heard again.

Clovis:"S2! WAKE UP! THE SNOSS ARE COMING! THE SNOSS ARE COMING!"

S2:"Huh? Man, all that flying tires a super hero out.....wait, THE SNOSS ARE COMING?"

Clovis:"WE NEED TO LEAVE! NOW!"

S2 grabbed Clovis, crashed out the window, and flew into the air again.

Swiss - SQUADCOM:"Alright boys. I see them again. Set cruise speed to 'turbo'."

Austin - SQUADCOM:"TURBO? We can't waste our fuel that quickly! We'll never be able to...."

Swiss - SQUADCOM:"Nevermind! Just increase the speed 100 knots!"

Clovis:"Hey, S2, they're gaining on us!"

S2:"Aww...come on!"

This chase lasted a very long time, and it was really taking a toll on S2. The Snoss drove him across the Antarctic Peninsula, where their adventures began....to the Geek Empire....where S2 began to slow down.

S2:"Ah....there's the Geek Empire! Clovis...let's rest there...i'm tired..."

Clovis:"Alright, just..."

Swiss Ninja then fired a missle at S2...and hit him. Both S2 and the unharmed Clovis then began to fall from the sky and into the ocean. Luckily, Clovis kept his journal in a waterproof box.

SPLASH!

Clovis then re emerged and sputtered out water.

Clovis:"S2!!!"

S2 floated motionless in the ocean water, but he wasn't dead.

S2:"Clovis! Escape on your own! Go!"

Clovis:"NO! I can't go solo!"

S2:"Aw, Clovis, you have to...."

Clovis sighed and began to swim away to the island shores of the Geek Empire. When he reached ashore, he looked back to see the majority of the Snoss Luftwaffe circling the area where S2 had fallen. Now, he saw Swiss Ninja and Austin themselves now heading for Clovis himself.

Swiss - SQUADCOM:"One traveler down, one more to go!"

Austin - SQUADCOM:"I'll deal with him!"

Austin soon decended the plane closer to the island shore. Clovis began running as Austin began shooting at him. Then, Clovis spotted another Geek Penguin fixing his car. Clovis made a quick decision, and jumped in the car and drove away, leaving behind the confused Geek Penguin owner.

Clovis:"Heheh! A tunnel's coming up!! You'll never get me now!"

Austin - SQUADCOM:"Hmmm...a tunnel. I can make this!"

Clovis soon drove into the tunnel and Austin flew his plan into the tunnel also....only to have his wings snapped off, sending Austin sliding at a fast speed as his wingless plane started passing Clovis's stolen car. Clovis and Austin just looked at each other for a moment as both of their machines were right next to each other for that moment. Then Clovis sped up again and left the tunnel. As soon as Austin's plane left the tunnel, it exploded and the ejection seat flung the unharmed Austin8310 into the ocean.

Swiss - SQUADCOM:"GRRR. Fine, I guess It's up to me!"

Swiss then started firing at Clovis.

Clovis:"Ahh! Swiss is still on me...now what should I do now....?"

Swiss Ninja then got really close to the Car as he continued to fire. Clovis began to shift the car around, causing the dust of the dirt road to gather up in the air.

Swiss - SQUADCOM:"AAH! I can't see!"

Swiss Ninja accidentally hit a rock ledge with the wing of his plane, sending his aircraft flying into the ocean. Luckily, his ejection seat went off as well, and he also was unharmed.

Clovis was now relieved and drove away, heading for the capital city of Afens. However, Clovis did not notice that the car was on autopilot, (cars are controlled by computers in the Geek Empire)

Clovis accidentally turned off the autopilot and then had to navigate the car himself, which he was not very good at. His reckless driving obviously made him cause the attention of many of the citizens as he kept shifting from one lane to another and drove on the wrong side of the road.

Clovis:"Where's the airport? I need to get out of here fast before the cops find out I don't have a license!"

Clovis then saw the sign that said "airport" and drove to the terminal, where he parked in a no parking zone. Clovis disregarded it anways, and abandoned the car. He then went to a telephone and called Sancho Monte Captio.

Clovis:"Hey, Sancho, you there?"

Sancho:"Hey, Clovis, how's you trip so far? How's Piper and S2 doing?"

Clovis:"Bad news.....both of them were captured by the Snoss. I'm the last one standing."

Sancho:"Oh....I'm sorry to hear that."

Clovis:"Yeah. Well, can you please buy me some tickets to Batavia then? I suppose I'll start there first."

Sancho:"Alright. Here, there's already a flight to Schipol in an hour. Do you want to take it?"

Clovis:"Sure."

A weary S2 was dragged by two RDA Troopers on the sandy beach of the Geek Empire.

Swiss:"So, we caught S2. There's only now one last penguin to chase down...."

S2:"Oh, thank goodness that Clovis still is alive..."

Swiss:"No matter. My little brother will be stopped. Speaking of brothers, I don't think your brother S1 will be happy to find out you are a traitor to the Empire!"

S2:"Please! Don't tell him!"

Swiss:"I won't. Instead, I'm going to send you to the correction facility."

S2: O_O

Piper:"The correction facility?"

Swiss:"Yes, the correction facility in Terninia! S2 will need some correction!"

S2:"NOOOO! I BEG YOU! DON'T! PLEASE!"

Swiss:"No. I can't have you helping the enemy. Clones, take him away!"

The two clones soon dragged the struggling and screaming S2 away.

Piper:"NOOOO!!!!"

Swiss:"Hey, at least you're not a clone! You should be thankful I spared you from that!"

Piper mumbled:"You monster...."

That next day, Clovis arrived in Schipol, Batavia. It would be the first place he would come to alone. Although Batavia was Snoss owned, Clovis knew that Swiss would never expect him behind enemy lines. Clovis was able to stay in a hotel located in the downtown area of Schipol, the capital of the famed Dutch speaking nation.

For lunch, Clovis enjoyed some delicious Cream Soda and some herring, a Batavian specialty. Clovis walked past the Batavian flats that were as old the middle ages themselves, ever working windmills, the famed dikes that kept the ocean from flooding the below sea level island, and the colorful tulip gardens that brought some happiness into the lonely Clovis.

Clovis then was strolling down the many canals that ran through the city of Schipol, observing the city life and the magnificent architecture of the buildings around him. Then, he spotted a prosession of a travelling band, playing a catchy tune, with a bunch of girls wearing traditional dresses, who where following and dancing with the band.

So, Clovis watched intently as the girls danced to the cheerful beat of the travelling band. Soon, a crowd formed, and Clovis found himself clapping to the beat of the song along with the crowd. When the song was done, and the dancers had bowed, everyone clapped an cheered, with Clovis being the loudest of them all. Clovis was so impressed, he asked for an encore. Since the dancers and the performer were already tired, they kindly just gave him a CD copy of the song.

Clovis then walked away, and sat down on a bench to write down his journal.

An excerpt from the Gottfried-Clovis Journal:

Things have turned out for the worst...in a way. S2 was shot down near the Geek Empire, which indeed is run by computers. Even cars are, which helped me escape from the clutches of Swiss Ninja and Austin. I alone then traveled to the peaceful island of Batavia, a Dutch speaking island that was artificially made from dikes and canals, and has a very interesting culture. I chose to go to Batavia first since it's Snoss territory, a place where Swiss Ninja would never look. However, Snowzerland does recognize Batavia as an independant military force, so the Snoss Army does not occupy the area, so I won't be tracked down. I next plan to stay in Frankterre, then travel to Liguria, then to Alemania, and hopefully reunite with Gottfried. If all goes well, we will travel to Osterreach, then into the heart of the enemy itself, Snowzerland Island. Perhaps Gottfried will look at the map again, and tell me where I need to go afterwards.

Meanwhile, S2 was taken to Terninia, and Piper was taken to Pen Chi Island. As of the decree of Swiss Ninja, Piper was locked away in a jail cell, located in the heart of the island. He was in a regular Penguin Jail cell, but still was in his cage. There was only another penguin in there with him, and that was a TerraMount soldier who was a prisoner of war.

Piper:"So...how long have you been here?"

TerraMount Soldier:"I've been here for a while. Ever since the Great Snowzerland War V."

Piper:"Well, I don't plan to be staying here very long..."

TerraMount Soldier:"That's what they all say."

Piper:"Well, I'm a puffle."

TerraMount Soldier:"I can't free you out of that cage, nor am I going to bang it on the jail bars while you're still in there."

Piper:"Oh, that's not what I had in mind."

Piper then started looking for his file tool, which was hidden with the rest of his stuff in hammerspace. He accidentally pulled out his mandolin.

TerraMount Soldier:"Uh....a mandolin?"

Piper:"Oops...It's actually Clovis's. I was getting madolin lessons from him."

Piper placed the mandolin back into hammerspace and then took out a grenade.

Piper:"Here. This should work."

TerraMount Soldier:"What? That's going to blow us up! We will need to try something else."

Piper:"Hmmm...Wait, I think I got just the thing!"

Piper took out some Snowzer Cheese type C, the least destructive of it's kind.

Piper:"Alright, lick it, then quickly stick it on the lock of my cage! It is strong enough to break it, and is small enough so that it can't hurt me."

The TerraMount Soldier did as he was told. The Snowzer Cheese type C made a small explosion and broke the lock of Piper's cage. Piper jumped out, glad to be free.

TerraMount Soldier:"Ok. So now we need to get out of the Jail cell."

Piper:"I might be able to fit through those jail bars if they were a couple more inches apart...."

Piper then took out a crowbar and handed it to the TerraMount Soldier. He soon began pulling on the metal bar, and with a little more help from Piper, they were able to make a little dent that Piper could fit through.

TerraMount Soldier:"You're...coming back, aren't you?"

Piper:"Duh."

Piper slipped through the bars and took out his gun. He then ran down the corridor of jail cells, where the jail guard was sitting down and reading the newspaper. Piper wasted no time and shot him before the jailkeeper could notice. Piper took the keys and unlocked all the jail cells that were filled with innocent penguins that were mainly prisoners of war.

Piper:"Come on guys! We're breaking out of here! For Freedom!"

Freed Soldiers:"For Antarctica!"

Piper led the soldiers as they charged through the underground jail corridors and towards the War Bot military base on the island. Once they reached the base, a gruesome battle occured, as Piper and his group of liberated Solders began jumping on the War Bots, tearing them apart. The metal arms, legs, and heads of these robotic soldiers soon lay everywhere like debris.

Piper then spotted a whole bunch of LATTUs that were ready to retreat.

Piper:"STOP THOSE LATTUs! They're our only way out of this place!"

Piper then jumped onto the shoulder of one of the penguin soldiers, who charged at one of the LATTUs. Piper then jumped into the loading compartment, and then attacked the Pilot, now with Piper in control of the LATTU. Several other soldiers did the same thing to the other LATTU's as well. Piper then relanded the transport and then allowed the Freed Soldiers to board. Piper then took off again, and called Dave Hochstadt.

Dave:"Hello?"

Piper:"Hey Dave, It's me, Piper."

Dave:"Piper? You all right? I heard from Clovis that you were captured!"

Piper:"I was, but I was able to free myself and all the other soldiers who were held prisoners of war on Pen Chi Island."

Dave:"Ok. Good. Well, here's the bad news. Clovis and S2 have been brutally chased by SN, and eventually S2 got captured...."

Piper:"I know. I saw him get carried away. Apparently SN said that S2 had to go to the 'correction facility' in Terninia. I know that isn't good."

Dave:"Oh. Well, then you know more than me. I now suggest you rejoin Clovis again."

Piper:"I will. Where is he? I'll just land there to rejoin him. The soldiers can fly back home on their own."

Dave:"He's in Schipol, Batavia."

Piper:"Well, good timing. I'm heading there right now. I'll be there soon."

Clovis now was visiting the southern Batavian city of Penguindam. He was walking along the city's waterfront when Piper landed his LATTU nearby, which caught everyone's attention.

Clovis:"Piper! You're all right!"

Piper:"Hey Clovis. It's good to see you again. Luckily you're still in one piece!"

Clovis hugged Piper very tightly.

Piper:"*cough* *cough* Please put me down, you're squeezing a little too tight.... *cough*"

Clovis put him down.

Clovis:"Sorry Piper."

Piper:"Aw, it's alright. Anyways, none of this is your fault. I understand about you two running away like that. The good news was that I also helped liberate some Antarctic Soldiers that were held captive on Pen Chi Island. I am now ready to continue our quest!"

Clovis:"Ok...but where's S2?"

Piper looked down, losing his smile.

Piper:"Oh. I dunno, Clovis. S2 was taken away back to Terninia. I heard from Swiss Ninja himself that he was going to the 'correction facility'. It does not sound good."

Clovis:"Oh. We got to rescue him then."

Piper:"We will. Terninia is on the map."

Clovis:"Right. Now would you like something to eat and drink? I bet you're very hungry!"

Piper:"Oh boy am I!"

Piper then hopped onto Clovis's shoulder and Clovis walked to a nearby cafe. The freed Soldiers soon then flew off again back home in their LATTU.

That day at the Keukenhof Castle, Swiss Ninja got a call from a RDA Trooper Commander.

Commander:"Uh sir, the communications between Pen Chi Island and the mainland have been disconnected. We sent scouts to find out what was wrong, and we found some alarming news. The convicts had somehow escaped, and attacked the War Bots that were on guard there. Many of the war bots are now nothing but scraps of metal, and we believe that the convicts have escaped via the Island's supply of LATTUs."

Swiss:"WHAT? Aw man. Piper, you one lucky puffle...."

Commander:"What should we do sir?"

Swiss:"There is nothing we can do...except for trying to track down those two travelers again."

Java Ghent walked into the room.

Java:"Hey, I can help."

Swiss lowered the phone and looked up.

Swiss:"Ok, Java. Tell me what's your plan?"

Java:"You know the land of Valnordore? I know a clan of mercenaries that could capture the Hochstadt travelers and hold them for ransom to Swiss Ninja and the Valnordorian Black Eye."

Swiss:"The Valnordorian Black Eye?"

Java:"What, you haven't heard of it? It's a Valnordorian political party that supports Snowzerland! They..."

Swiss:"Oh! Why didn't you say so? Fine then. Do as you wish."

Java:"Thank you master!"
