Tropicalis (/ˈträpikaləs/; Spanish: Tropicalia, pronounced trop-i-kal-is) or officially the Republic of Tropicalis is a sovereign nation and secondary power located on an archipelago several hundred miles west of Dorkugal. Tropicalis is known throughout Antarctica for it's tropical climate, beaches, resorts, cleanliness, environmental friendliness and modernization.
A relatively neutral state, Tropicalis a popular international tourist destination and considered by many to be an ideal location to spend summer holidays abroad. The country consists of 9 mainland provinces, 2 overseas provinces, as well as some colonies and territories. The nation has several populous and well known cities/municipalities such as Lagois City, Barhamados, Penguinas, and the nation's capital, Tropicapolis. Since 1993, the incumbent President of Tropicalis is Penguino Lagois IV, and the current Prime Minister is Daniel Sanchos.
The nation strongly believes in unity and friendship and has established healthy and positive relations with many of Antarctica's nations, becoming a member state of the Western Union, a politico-economic union of closely-collaborating nations, as well as several other diplomatic alliances, organizations and coalitions such as SATO, the Free Republic Union and the United Antarctic Nations in an effort to improve relations.
Though the republic itself was founded on April 15, 1907, Tropicalis has existed for nearly a millennium prior, beginning as the Sphenisdean Empire in the early 11th century after the first colonies united into a single nation. After several hundred years of conflict, territorial and government system changes, Tropicalis has since changed, expanded in size and population and has adopted a more democratic system. The three main languages of Tropicalis are English, Spanish and Latin though others like Catalan, German, Galician and old Tropicalian dialects are recognized minorities in some places. The country has a very diverse population of ethnic groups and creatures which may vary in size depending on the region. The country's largest ethnic groups are Emperor Penguins, Adelie Penguins and Southern Kanta Penguins.
Tropicalis is also a top exporter of fruits (especially tropical and exotic fruit) and other agricultural products in Antarctica part of which is because of the country's climate and its fertile land. Being clean and eco-friendly is also one of the country's top priorities with an immense number of energy and electricity production coming from only renewable or environmentally friendly choices. Most automobiles and vehicles run on hydrogen and electricity resulting in little to/or no emissions or air pollutants. Littering or polluting in places such as public areas, forests, fields or bodies of water are punishable offences in the country and are therefore illegal.

Scientists theorize that Tropicalis had it's many islands formed by volcanic activity hundreds of thousands of years, possibly millions of years ago. Traces of volcanic rock underneath the surface has been used as evidence to support the assumption and form the basis of the idea. It is truly unknown when the very first creatures discovered the archipelago, but the country's archaeologists have come to the conclusion that they were most likely puffles.
Settlement (1000 BC)
Tropicalis' first penguin residents were believed to be nomadic at first. However, several archaeological sites along the coastlines of the country have been found to contain statues, ancient tools, and the remnants of structures, meaning that these penguins eventually settled down on the island at some point, and continued to live there. While most of the first settlements became defunct, these penguins moved on to create other settlements around the country, which over the years became entire villages and proper communities.
It is also believed that numbers of strange and unrecognizable species once resided on the island, and either escaped by unknown means or later went extinct. Most penguins often arrived and resided in groups according to their species, and usually didn't interact with each other, due to being spread out far and wide, sparesly populating the region.
Galliardan Empire (205-92 BC)
In the year 207 BC, a Snowprusian general named Galliard arrived on Beakíl Island, along with several other Snowprusians with the aim of setting up a minor colony on the island. Galliard however, was more determined to not just have a small part of the region's land, but to take the entirety of the region, much like Lord Guin did to Antarctic mainland centuries before. He began ordering his local soldiers to help him forcefully occupy nearby settlements and communites, with Galliard often charging into battle himself.
Being simple villagers, most of the nearby towns were taken easily and incorporated into the colony. After two years, Galliard officially declared the creation of the Galliardan Empire in 205 BC, and continued his campaign of conquest for another 21 years. While some of the settlers caught word of Galliard's conquest and immediately surrendered in return for his protection, other settlements put up heavy resistance to Galliard, though inevitably failed to stop his growing empire. Towards the end of his 21 year-long conquest, Galliard had conquered more than half of each of the two islands of Tropicalis, almost completely unifying the region. Because of persistence in succeeding, Galliard became known as "Galliard the Great".
Galliard retired at the end of his campaign, and control of the empire was entrusted to his son, Gunther. While Gunther did attack some other settlements, these battles were all outmatched compared to the scale of his father's conquests. Gunther's reign was mostly uneventful, and he was suceeded by his son, Gunther II. In the north however, just 1 year before the beginning of Gunther II's reign, Penguin Empire colonists had landed in the north and set up a colony, with the intention of doing the exact same thing Galliard had in mind.
Penguin Empire Tropicalis (92 BC-450 AD)
After 8 years of hard battle, the Penguin Empire had succeded in collapsing the Galliardan Empire, dissolving it completely. Most of the Galliardan Empire's former lands were incorporated into the Penguin Empire, while some parts were relinquished completely, and were re-occupied by their former inhabitants. The cities built in the duration of the Galliardan Empire were incorporated into the Penguin Empire, and the official language of the empire was switched to Latin, as opposed to Greek, which was used by the Galliardan Empire. The northern island, which remained untouched by the Galliardan Empire, was occupied by Kanta Penguins, and conquered by the Penguin Empire.
Post-Penguin Empire (450-1021)
Shortly after the dissolving of the Penguin Empire, a group of explorers and colonists from the mainland who had broken away from the fallen empire were sailing across the oceans discovered the warm and tropical climate and sandy shores of the still unnamed and undeveloped Tropicalis. They settled down in the northern islands and set up camp for the next few nights, hoping to permanently reside there.
Over the next few decades, villages were founded and they expanded their territory. Every now and then, ships from elsewhere would discover the islands and colonize part of it. Soon, control over the entire archipelago was divided between different factions, colonies and tribes with the major ones being the Penguin Empire colonists who ruled the north-east, a Southern Kanta Penguin tribe which controlled the northern island of Pengstado, Galapagos Penguins who controlled the south, Emperor Penguins who had acquired most of the east and had the largest territory and the most numbers by far and other minorities controlling the west.
Occasionally, territorial disputes sprung up between the different factions over who controlled which parts of land and with trespassers who waddled beyond their territorial limits. There were several territorial changes over time, with the occasionally forceful dissolution of one faction after being conquered by another. In the end, the Emperor Penguins, led by Pengtivius, a particularly cooperative and open member of their own peacefully approached the leaders of the several factions asking for friendship and unity and gave them time to consider his proposal. Within a few months of the proposal, most of the factions agreed, however few such as the Kanta Penguins, were reluctant and refused their friendship, preferring to prosper on their own.
The Sphenisdean Empire (1021-1660)
In time, the factions had decided to merge together to form a alliance of a much greater size. Each of the factions either became federal subjects of the alliance, functioning mostly the same with their leaders retaining their official titles. The decision that a leader position should be created to govern and represent the alliance was passed with the support of a vast amount of residents. Pengtivius was chosen with much agreement from the public and given the title of king. Shortly after, the alliance was reclassified and renamed the "Sphenisdean Empire".
The Sphenisdean Empire grew in it's number of immigrants and residents over several centuries and saw an increase in commerce, most notably spice trading. Traders would often follow popular trading routes to achieve a stronger connection to the rest of the continent. The growing High Penguin Confederacy had soon become the Empire's new ally, and with their help were able to collect the resources to construct towns and seaports for the rest of the country. At the same time, the exportation of fruit saw a rise due to the empire's tropical fruits which were much rarer and exclusive to the region at the time. A few of the smaller colonies who had refused to join the empire during the early colonization of the islands were now more enthusiastic to join and thus requested to become part of it resulting in several more additions and expansions to the empire.
By the late 11th century, most of the colonies had joined the greater empire. Even the Kantas joined, only because they had a new leader who believed it was the right choice much to the objection of the other Kantas. Pengtivius later abdicated the throne and was succeeded by his son, Pengtivius II who founded the country's first protection forces and established a peacekeeping system in the hopes of keeping the empire's citizens safe and achieving some official form of law enforcement.
Colonization of Gernomia
Gernomia was later discovered on accident by Sphenisdean explorers who were on their way to Pengolia when their ships were lost in storms. After the storms calmed slightly, they landed on the shores of eastern Gernomia and decided to remain there for the next few nights until the storm calmed. After further exploring the islands, the came across the Viking Penguins who had inhabited the island long before the explorers had discovered them. The Gernomian Viking Penguins were at first protective, but soon learned that the explorers meant no harm. After a few months, a healthy relationship was established between the Gernomian Vikings and the Sphenisdeans. Pengtivius II eventually met up with their leader and invited them to become part of the empire and join as a colony as well as receive help and support from them. When the Gernomian Vikings agreed, the Sphenisdeans started transporting supplies and support to the Vikings as the viking's food supplies were depleting from large consumption due to the colder weather.
The archipelago, with no official name at the time was named Gernomia with consent from the Vikings with the name deriving from the name "Gernische" which most of the Vikings called it. Over time as immigrants from the mainland decided to move there, towns and cities were built and constructed mainly in Gernomian architecture. Gernomia also attracted other immigrants mainly Vikings and those originating from what is nowadays the Ninja Archipelago. The decision for the construction of a capital city for the colony was made and construction began for what is nowadays Statavia. At the same time, the rest of the Gernomian Archipelago was explored, mapped out and colonized.
Ever since the addition of the new colony, the Gernomians had a notable influence in a few of the newer cities, bringing some cultural influence including architecture and cuisine. The city of Alphis, a city which was developed largely by Gernomian Vikings was a great example of this.
Crossmer-Sphenisdean Conflict (1538-1540)
A barbaric and aggressive group of penguins calling themselves the "Crossmers" that had formed in the western parts of region, grew increasingly dissatisfied with the territory that they had, craving more and desiring to take control of the others' territory, namely Sphenisdean's, by force. In 1538, they went on a crusade of conquering and waging war with the other unorganized and miscellaneous tribes and colonies of the west, adding more to their own territory. For a while, they were incredibly successful, gradually growing in strength. Eventually, they decided to try and attack Sphensidean, crossing their boundaries and invading the nearest cities.
Unfortunately for the Crossmers, they were overpowered not long after, and forced back into their territory. A few months of menial brawls and conflicts between the Crossmers and the Sphenisdeans occurred over the next two years, until Anglish ships came across the shores of the Crossmer territory. After their ships were pelted with objects from some nearby Crossmers, the Anglish took up the opportunity to conquer this highly aggressive, yet mostly defensive group of barbarians. After word got back to their homeland, several more Anglish soldiers arrived some time later, and together, they conquered the Crossmers, establishing a colony in their place that would later be called "Puffish Sphenisdean". This colony would later be used to establish stronger ties with the empire, as well as conduct trade.
Over the next couple of centuries, The Sphenisdean Empire continued to grow and expand, with more colonies merging into the greater empire sooner or later. The empire still continued to flourish in selling fruits and spice trading and in a matter of time, became one of the top importers and exporters of fruits and spice around the Antarctican continent. The Sphenisdeans took the opportunity to strengthen their relationship with the High Penguin Confederacy who had grown to become one of their top trading partners.
In the year 1584, the Colony of Beakíl, who were formally a group of colonists that occupied a decent portion of land on the second biggest island who had once refused the Emperor's alliance, finally decided to join up with the Sphenisdeans. This also resulted in a large extension to the empire and even a change of territory resulting in smaller states of the second largest island joining up with the Beakíls to form one large state. This state was named "Beakily".
Sphenisdean Civil Wars (1660-1727)
First Civil War (1660-1668)
Ever since the Kantas joined the Sphenisdeans, many had held a grudge against the king and the other member states of the empire. This bitterness was also boosted when Pengtivius IX officially made the decision to transfer the position of the empire's primary language from Latin to Spanish, which was met with agreement with all but the Pengstadoans. Many of the citizens of the state would pass down this grudge and teach it to the next generations and explain how they were wrong to join the empire and how they should become independent. Eventually, after the rebelliousness had reached it's peak, many of the citizens had banded together and forcefully deposed the state's current governor in a coup.
They then declared themselves independent from the Sphenisdean Empire and started expelling those who disagreed with their views and adopted a harsh and brutal dictatorship government. After gathering a decent amount of support, they started their attack against the government. The Sphenisdean military defended and retaliated, but were unsuccessful in defeating them and retaking Pengstado due to a strong and strategic blockade they had built up at the coast.
Over the next few years, fighting between the rebellion and the empire continued with little luck on both sides as the rebels were as protective as ever of their territory. The rebels also proceeded to try gather enough support and resources to attempt a full all-out assault on the capital. They accomplished most of this by having spies infiltrate the empire and vandalize structures or spread lies and rumours throughout the many cities and towns. After a few weeks on one particularly foggy evening, they devised a plan by using the fog to their advantage to hide their ships and seize the capital. At around midnight that night, they sailed out quietly towards the northern areas of the Sphenisdean Empire and secretly take control of Sphenisdean ships while diguising their men as Sphenisdean soldiers.
While they were carefully traversing the sea between Beakily Island and the main island, Pablo Pengio, a civilian, spotted the unusual amount of ships coming through to the capital. After further investigating the ships from afar, he noticed their weapons and other signs indicating their secret plan. In an attempt to stop them, he alerted the soldiers of the local area by sounding a large bell to awaken and grab the attention of them. The Pengstado rebels attempted to silence him by firing their canons, but were stopped by soldiers. Seeing as they couldn't hide any longer, they tried to rebuff the soldiers off their ship which alerted more forces to come and aid them. The soldiers were successfully able to apprehend the rebels while the rest of the rebellion were soon defeated in the coming weeks. Pablo Pengio was later rewarded and congratulated for his actions and became a famous and well-respected figure in his local region.
The empire also saw an addition of territory to their boundaries, as Puffish Sphenisdean was ceded to the empire, who purchased it from the Puffish, allowing the empire to control the entirety of the western island.
Second Civil War (1724-1727)
Ever since the first civil war, the Pengstadoans had retained their rebellious attitude towards the rest of the empire and hadn't given up trying to breakaway ever since the end of the war. After building up another army of reasonable size, the once again evicted those loyal to the empire and declared the island theirs once more. A few territories in the north were forcefully seized and put under their control soon after in a series of unexpected surprise attacks. They then revisited their plan to try and capture the capital and this time attempt to imprison the current king of the Sphenisdean Empire, Gideon VII. After successfully managing to take the capital, the Sphenisdean Empire flag was replaced with the flag of the rebels who were now calling themselves the Pengstado Confederation. A Pengstado Confederate later known to Tropicalian history nowadays as 'Khanus the Tyrannical' came to power and started ruling the country with an iron fist. Gideon VII was successfully taken prisoner after being raided by Confederates. His son, Tomás I, however, was delivered safely away from the war.
As the confederates conquered more land, residents were forced to comply with the new rules or risk more dangerous consequences. The Sphenisdeans then retreated to the south where they sought help and built camps and homes to reside in. They heavily fortified themselves in, not letting a single penguin or puffle enter unnoticed or unwatched. Tomás I was named the temporary ruler of what was left of the Sphenisdean Empire and was left to command the military and take action against the confederacy. Thomas I started planning out attacks on nearby Confederate-ruled cities and towns and quickly striking them and telling the citizens to stand up for themselves at the same time. Word of got around, and soon citizens were starting to rise up against the confederacy and take back their homes. Support from Gernomia and the High Penguin Confederacy arrived later, and after several long, deadly battles, the confederates slowly shrunk back to Pengstado. Khanus and his forces in the meantime were experiencing difficulties fighting back against the rebelling citizens.
In a matter of time, they ended up surrendering and admitting their defeat.
The Two Kingdoms (1727-1901)
Though Tomás had won and Khanus had surrendered and retreated, the country was left in a state of great chaos and disarray, once again splitting into several different de facto states. Not only this, but Khanus' rule of the country had left behind profound influence on the nation and the civil war's aftermath. The Sphenisdean Empire hadn't completely dissolved, but some of Khanus' forces, who still secretly remained in power, quickly reorganized the Sphenisdean Empire into the Imperial Empire of Sphenisdean, controlling most of the northern regions. Quintus I, who was influenced by Khanus' leadership, assumed power and took control of the empire, becoming its absolute monarch.
Through all of this, Tomás I remained with a reasonable amount of territory to himself, controlling some of the southern regions, including some of the territory that he had during the war. The colony of Gernomia also remained in Tomás' possession, with the natives choosing to side with Tomás over Quintus.
Many who were still loyal to Tomás and the original monarchy quickly flocked to the newly declared capital of his nation, in Beakciudad. Tomás decided to name his country the Kingdom of Tropicalis, derived from "Tropicalia", a name used during both Penguin Empire and post-Penguin Empire times to describe the region. The palma tropicalia, a native palm tree of the region, became a profound and national symbol of the country.
Quintus, meanwhile, had more ambitious ideas, and started making a name for his new empire as an Imperialist nation. He quickly took advantage of the situation and after a couple of weeks or so, began forcefully conquering smaller states and territories which were still recovering from the civil war. During this time, the boundaries of these states continued to change, some failing to prevent Quintus' invasion or joining up with other close neighbours.
Quintus' unexpected conquest of the region had left everyone in surprise, with the other states struggling to muster the force to repel his growing army. This sudden territorial expansion resulted in several clashes with the Kingdom of Tropicalis, who claimed many of said territories for themselves, as well as disputes and later involvement in proxy wars. All of these battles remained undeclared, and most of the time resulted in military stalemates.
Eventually, the fighting died down, and the Kingdom of Tropicalis continued to grow and heal, coexisting (albeit rather tensely) with Quintus' Empire, which had refused to establish relations with them due to the Kingdom's goodwill and support for some of the smaller factions. Despite their very strained relationship, the two sides never properly confronted each other on the battlefield.
Tomás decided to shift the position of the capital from Beakciudad to Sphenisciformes in 1739, out of worry of invasion. Not very many of the original states were left from Quintus' invasion, having been absorbed into the empire, growing its size.
Colonial Age (Late 1700s-1800s)
Tomás eventually abdicated the throne in 1760, leaving his position of king to be filled by his son and heir, Tomás II. Looking to try and compete against Quintus, Tomás II sought to succeed in other ways besides more fights with the Empire (especially due to the previous ones having somewhat hindered their already smaller and still recovering military force). Tomás II decided to organize groups of explorers and adventurers to explore the oceans, in search of new lands to expand to. Quintus meanwhile, organized a branch of his military known as the conquistadors, who set out across the sea with similar intentions - to locate new lands to expand to, but instead to conquer with force.
This forced conquest resulted in more disputes, minor conflicts and disagreements between the Kingdom and the Empire between the 1760s to early 1780s, as well as battles and attempted invasion of other countries, namely those of the Ninja Archipelago. Ultimately, this resulted in a complete failure, and a waste of time.
While the Kingdom of Tropicalis made a full recovery over the next few decades, repairing damage and integrating the area into a proper kingdom, a couple of the smaller independent states that still existed proclaimed their allegiance to Tomás and the kingdom, expressing their wishes to join. Though some of the other states were thinking to follow suit, Quintus grew angry that they supported a rival nation and promptly invaded these smaller states, leading the other states to keep quiet about their intentions out of fear of being annexed.
Under the reign of Tomás II, the Kingdom Tropicalis continued to transition into a more colonial period with more explorers and colonists sailing out into the ocean to look for possible colonies. Quintus meanwhile, had been succeeded by his son and heir, Septimus I. During this time, the Kingdom of Tropicalis proved to be more successful in the colonial race between the two countries, with Septimus struggling to keep up. Instead of trying to find unclaimed land, Septimus decided to try and invade other nearby countries, an attempt which failed horribly. This made the imperial empire as a whole generally less likeable in the eyes of other nations, including the High Penguin Confederacy, which disapproved of the empire's creation and current state.
In 1792, A fleet of Tropicalian colonists led by Freezecisco Snowpengy landed on some of the uncharted shores of Baile Átha and Trøndelag on mainland Antarctica. Freezecisco and his team of colonists planted the Kingdom's flags in the ground and started building bases for potential colonies. These colonists then started moving south, establishing a few more colonial bases, which would later become the cities of Snow José and Snow Freezecisco.
Meanwhile, some other explorers and sailors from the Tropicalian kingdom would sail directly south from into uncharted areas of the Tropicalian Sea. After mapping out the entirety of some uncharted areas, they claimed most of the tiny, undeveloped islands on behalf of the kingdom and made them part of what would later be the Tropicalian Ocean Territories.
In 1799, the archipelago of Macarooni was discovered by Tropicalian explorers who set up colonial bases there in hopes that the government would send supplies and see to it's development. For a long while, the Kingdom of Tropicalis continued to triumph over the Imperial Empire, especially in terms of colonizing, continuing expanding it's colonies through the early 1800s as well as having an overall happier population.
Despite the Imperial Empire's occupation of most of the region and its islands by the 1820's, the Kingdom of Tropicalis continued to develop on its own, growing larger and keeping good relations with the High Penguin Confederacy and several other countries, both near and far. The ruling monarch at the time, now Tomás III, had decided to proclaim the capital of the country to be in what he named Tropicapolis, a small collection of towns and villages under the growing city of Beaksledge.
For the next 80 or so years, the Imperial Empire continued to coexist alongside the Kingdom of Tropicalis quite peacefully, though the Empire wanted nothing to do with the Kingdom. The few states that had survived imperial conquest had grown and in some cases, merged into single states, though they were still somewhat unorganized and largely disputed. While the most recent states to fall to imperial forces had surrendered without much of a fight, their citizens were growing increasingly unhappy with the state of the empire.
Fall of Imperial Sphenisdean (1901-1907)
Around early 1901, an underground revolutionary organization known as the Tropicaliber was founded by militant leader Perry Kingfisher and several other co-founders. Several of the organization's members, including Kingfisher himself, had defected from the empire and wanted to free the region of imperial control, and restore the previous government led by Pengtivius' descendants.
Meanwhile, the empire itself had started to descend into a state of disorder and unpleasantness as a result of the absolute monarchy and the strict government as its current emperor, Septimus III, struggled to silence any anti-imperialism, including a declaration of independence from the province of Pengstado.
The Tropicaliber began a mass recruitment campaign, easily gathering large numbers of displeased citizens and aspiring revolutionaries. Though there were a few close shaves with being exposed to the government, the Tropicaliber continued their operations throughout the continent for a year or so, gaining considerable support in Pengstado. At one point in 1903, a failed recruitment mission lead to a mass arresting of many of the Tropicaliber. An open statement was announced by Septimus III the next day to hunt down every last revolutionary, forcing Perry Kingfisher and most of the remaining members to flee the country, primarily towards the south, into the Kingdom of Tropicalis.
Despite the major setback, Kingfisher and his associates decided to begin recruiting more members in the kingdom, where they had incredible success, which went virtually unopposed. The Tropicaliber began gathering support in other nearby countries, openly advertised their existence and objectives wherever possible. All of these feats were done while sporting the palma tropicalia as their official symbol, showing their support and devotion to the Kingdom of Tropicalis.
The Imperial Empire began to feel increasing amounts of pressure as Kingdom allies such as the High Penguin Confederacy supported the Tropicaliber in their mission to liberate the region of their control. The Tropicaliber saw a great increase in public support from the Empire's citizens, with many openly speaking out against the government. Septimus grew fearful and threatened, knowing he couldn't keep silencing and censoring the citizens, but refused to step down and threatened to retaliate with military tactics.
Eventually, in 1907, the Tropicaliber began organizing attack plans on Imperial grounds, hoping to liberate several cities and free the Imperial capital of New Penguin City. A few months or so passed, and the Tropicaliber revolutionaries had made relatively undisturbed journeys around the Empire, positioning themselves in and around major cities and all agreeing to begin their attack on February 3. The subsequent uprising was named after Kingfisher, who was primarily responsible for orchestrating and spearheading the entire operation. When the time came, the Tropicaliber revolutionaries launched surprise attacks late at night, easily taking control of certain cities. The imperial soldiers were unprepared for this attack, and fled, while some even joined the revolutionaries.
Septimus was immediately woken up by the siege on the capital, lead by Kingfisher himself, and promptly fled to the north, reaching sanctuary in a town near the northern coastline. By the time the morning arrived, hundreds of citizens had joined the revolutionaries in a massive protest and revolt, overwhelming the imperials completely. Much imperial territory had been ceded and occupied by the Tropicaliber, and the capital had been secured, with the Tropicaliber raising their flag above the capital. The imperials promptly fled to the north to join their leader, becoming greatly diminished in numbers as a result of the surprise attacks.
A couple of days later, the High Penguin Confederacy sent support to the revolutionaries, helping them in their last few battles against the imperials. Septimus and his loyal soldiers were eventually found and captured on February 19, while the rest of the imperials were expelled another few days later on February 21, thus ending the revolution.
The Republic of Tropicalis (1907)
For a short-lived time, a majority of the continent belonged to the Tropicaliber, while negotiations were held between the leaders of the local region, Kingfisher and the Tropicalian king Tomás V included, in the former imperial capital. After several weeks of talks and debates, an agreement was reached: the several independent states and countries of the region would be reunited and governed in some way by Pengtivius' descendants, and the forcefully conquered territories of the imperial empire would be returned. All leaders unanimously agreed upon this, even the Pengstado representatives, who saw it as a better option. A treaty was then signed, known as the Treaty of Tropicalis, or locally known as the Reunification Treaty.
As a result, the nations, territories and colonies merged boundaries and the Republic of Tropicalis was founded on April 15, 1907. The system of government changed considerably, becoming more democratic, and introducing a president as well as a democratically-elected prime minister. Tropicapolis was proclaimed as the official capital of the republic, and Tomás V's son and would-be successor, Penguino Lagois I, was instead installed as the first president, with Tomás abdicating the throne and retiring simultaneously.
The republic decided to adopt the flag of the former Kingdom of Tropicalis, sporting the colours of orange, yellow and incorporating the palm tree. Declan Fortnight, a Puffish-Tropicalian, was elected as the first prime minister of Tropicalis. By popular demand, Perry Kingfisher became the general of the newly created Tropicalian Armed Forces.
Over the next four to five years, the country underwent a complete overhaul, incorporating the merging of the many states into a larger, region-wide republic. Several populous cities saw large-scale reconstructions and renovations, making efforts to heavily modernize them and retrofit them with the latest technology. The Lagois Mansion was built on a specially designated island in Tropicapolis, serving as a private residence for Penguino Lagois I and his family. An official government complex building also began construction in the city in 1908, including a presidential office space.
In 1913 however, one of Tropicalis' closest allies, the High Penguin Confederacy, collapsed. The confederacy was replaced with the Khanzem's Third Reich, headed by Whoot Smackler Whoot. Only a few weeks after the coup took place and Khanzem came to power, Tropicalis' mainland colonies were either destroyed, taken, or declared part of nearby territory by Khanzem soldiers who were out hunting for High Penguins.
Khanzem War (1914-1918)
Invasion of Tropicalis
Despite the losses of the mainland colonies, Tropicalis was reluctant to involve itself in the following Khanzem War, and opted to stay out of it. Tropicalis did however send support and aid to the Good Guys and other allies fighting against the Naughtzee.
Eventually, on April 15th of 1914, Tropicalis faced a surprise invasion by a fleet of Khanzem ships and had northern Beakíl Island occupied by Khanzem troops. Khanzem then attempted to use northern Beakíl Island as a strategic position to launch a proper invasion of Tropicalis and put it under Khanzem control. At the same time, a secret invasion of the western coast took place, and part of Western Tropicalis fell under Khanzem control.
Not long after the surprise invasion, the island territory of Lao was invaded and captured by Khanzem-allied Japalandese soldiers, forcing the local government to attempt an emergency mass evacuation of all citizens. Unfortunately, nobody managed to escape, as Japalandese ships had already surrounded the island during the invasion. The Japalandese kept the island under strict control, planning to use it as a strategic point to send soldiers directly to Tropicalis, unopposed.
Perry Kingfisher, the former leader of the Tropicaliber and now general of the national armed forces, had Tropicalian soldiers deployed at the western Khanzem-Tropicalian border to defend against further occupation and retaliate against Khanzem. Permanent territorial changes were almost unheard of since it would be immediately retaken by one side before having the same thing done again by the opposite side, resulting in an almost endless cycle.
After a few months, things on the Tropicalian side changed for the worse as Khanzem slowly started to expand their control of Beakíl Island. Meanwhile Tropicalian soldiers, who were finally beating back the Khanzem soldiers in Western Tropicalis, were subsequently met with more Khanzem soldiers, who had summoned reinforcements and stubbornly refused to give up their side of the country. Khanzem continued to occupy the west for the next three years or so, with minor conflicts and border skirmishes erupting on the Western Tropicalian boundaries.
Operation Green Palm
In mid-1917, Tropicalian scientists began developing new technology involving a newly discovered experimental and unpredictable metal, Linium. Having only discovered this strange new resource a few years prior, the scientists conducted several tests with Linium, with the intent of using it to develop Linium-based weaponry.
Eventually, after a few weeks, the scientists were able to create the first successful prototype Linium-based artillery, and informed Genereal Kingfisher of this new breakthrough. In turn, Kingfisher personally informed the incumbent president, Penguino Lagois I, of this impressive new technology. Becoming increasingly desperate to eliminate the growing threat of Khanzem, Penguino Lagois I authorized the use of these weapons, and throughout the next few weeks, the weapons were distributed to soldiers. Military leaders of the country then began planning a campaign known as Operation Green Palm, a series of attacks to successfully rid Khanzem from the country and liberate the territory of Lao utilizing the Linium.
As soon as Operation Green Palm was carried out, the new weapons proved to be incredibly effective, with the soldiers being able to fend off and deter the invasion with much needed efficiency. Combined with some reinforcements from neighbouring and allied countries, Tropicalis began to push back, slowly forcing Khanzem out of the country. As Linium cannons and experimental bombs started to come into play, the Khanzem soldiers began to give in, forcing them to retreat to mainland Antarctica.
The Khanzem and Japalandese soldiers stationed at Lao barely had time to leave the island before Tropicalian soldiers arrived to retake the island, liberating it from their control and sending any remnants fleeing.
The end of the Khanzem War led to a huge celebration in Tropicalis with many Tropicalians coming together to celebrate the surrender; leading to the immense popularization of Yuletide throughout the country in the following years on the same day.
Western Tropicalis was left mostly demolished after the Khanzem War, leading to another mass reconstruction operation of the towns and cities that were caught in the crossfire. With help from the Puffish and many of their immigrants, many of the devastated cities were rebuilt with Puffish architecture. A few neighborhoods in Western Tropicalis built entirely out of Puffish architecture called "Puffishtowns" also emerged because of this.
The grand reconstruction also prompted the development of increasingly better technology, further military development, scientific experimentation and newer architectural styles for buildings. Tropicalian scientists continued their experimentation with Linium, perfecting the material to be used in smaller, more portable weapons such as rifles and guns.
Industrialization Era (1919-1980)
With Khanzem toppled and the reconstruction of the west mostly complete, automobiles being released and put to use as well as the construction of factories and machines. More businesses and companies opened up at an increasing rate, selling things like automobiles, machines and other recent technology. Cities and towns began to grow as the construction of newer, taller, bigger and better buildings began with more unique and modern architecture which used more metals, glass and other materials.
Meanwhile, as the cities continued to grow, colonists and explorers such as Zephaniah Lagois once again set out in search of more undiscovered and unclaimed land and in 1929, found the islands of the Coral Archipelago and the unclaimed tropical island of Adelia in 1933.
Around this time, Penguino Lagois II came to power and had the use of electricity to power entire cities was introduced. After seeing how effective it was, Penguino and the government had power grids installed for every town and city and made the grand conversion from most power sources such as steam and oil to electricity. Oil lamps were quickly replaced with light bulbs, and there was a rapid increase in use of the new electrical appliances. The Tropicalian government later decided to let the Governance handle all electrical matters and with their new partnership saw the beginning of the use of proper telecommunication systems, radio and television. The first Linium-powered reactor launched successfully in 1943, after scientists conducted energy-based experiments on the material and found it could be used for power.
Project Green State
Around the late 50's, with pollution becoming an growing issue and a threat, the government started another large, nation-wide transition plan named "Project Green State". The project aimed to convert a majority of existing oil, coal and other non-renewable, non-environmentally friendly power sources into more renewable, healthier alternatives such as solar, water and geothermal power.
The project consumed an immense amount of time and expenses to implement, expected to span numerous decades, and saw the creation of several large spaces dedicated to the construction of wind, solar and geothermal power plants, many of which were constructed in Southern Tropicalis. With Project Green State, Tropicalian scientists began looking for ways to use Linium as a power source, and despite several failures and occasional accidents, were able to create a prototype Linium reactor, which would eventually lead to the development of Linium-based power plants in the country's future.
With commercial airplanes now in use, the first commercial airports were built in several cities. Pengtivius V Regional Airport was the first to open up and began service in the mid 1960's. Aviation centers and other facilities dedicated to airborne vehicles also heightened in numbers as planes became popular. In 1968, the first Annual Airship Tour occurred in Lagois City where penguins could take a tour of the city from above for a certain amount of time everyday for a few weeks.
The country's first satellite, Nightingale-1 was successfully launched via a rocket and put into orbit in 1978 and was studied and observed by scientists and provided valuable information for further projects concerning outer space. It was a milestone and a big achievement for the country who had successfully managed to launch their first working satellite. Nightingale-1 eventually had it's power supply depleted after completing several hundred orbits before it's orbit decayed and it burned up in when re-entering the atmosphere.
Age of Technology (1980-1999)
With the launch of basic and simple computers in the 1980's, tasks could be completed quicker and better once computers made their way to Tropicalis. Despite being expensive and sometimes tedious to operate, they were expert calculators and could have assignments that would take dozens of penguins much longer to do by flipper completed automatically. With the coming of this new period, machines advanced into more compact, smaller and more efficient systems without taking up entire rooms like they used to with the help of newer computer technology that came in smaller sizes. Automation became more common in factories and power plants as personal computers were becoming easily found in many homes. Dial-up internet access was also introduced, which was all handled thanks to the Governance.
Tech companies such as Vision Inc. and NeoTech were founded around this time, introducing and popularizing computers and more advanced electronics. Other companies such as TramSport Corporation Limited gained notability in the country, introducing vehicles and transportation that incorporated newer technology into their systems allowing for faster, smoother travel. The planned city of Penguinas began construction in the north, promising unique architecture and more tech-integrated buildings.
After years of research since the launch of Nightingale-1, discussions of future space programs were held frequently by the Tropicalian Scientific Research Agency and eventually, an agreement was made to fund the building of a second, but more modern satellite. The new satellite, Nightingale-2, would run on it's own without the need of manual control thanks to the help of computers. The second satellite was built with rechargeable solar panels which would prevent it from running out of battery and cease transmitting data. In 1992, another rocket was launched after several tests and inspections and Nightingale-2 was successfully put into a stable orbit around the Earth. It would then capture various images from above of Antarctica from down below as well as photos of stars and far away exoplanets with it's newly equipped telescope equipment.
On April 22 the next year, Penguino Lagois IV succeeded his father, Penguino Lagois III as president of the country, who retired after 26 years in office.
Modernization Era (1999-2009)
Tropicalis underwent massive changes, establishing ties with several other nations, including the newly established United States of Antarctica and joining several international organizations including the CP Gold Coin Alliance, the United Antarctic Nations and the Free Republic Union, allowing it to grow closer to other countries and make new allies.
The entirety of the country possesses more of a tropical climate unlike most of the Antarctic continent. Though most Tropicalians have learned to adapt and grow accustomed to the heat, some tourists, immigrants and other penguins from foreign countries find it difficult to withstand the warmer than usual climates. Temperatures are more mild in provinces such as Centro de Tropicalia and Western Tropicalis where most non-Tropicalian penguins find it easier to handle the higher temperatures. The south is an especially warm and dryer region, and this is strengthened by the volcanic activity that warms part of the province up. It's also not uncommon for penguins to experienced rain or thunderstorms in the country.
Tropicalis' lands are scattered with tall mountains, vast jungles, beaches, rivers, lakes and islands. Mount Sunsavia, one particularly famous mountain is one of many extinct volcanoes found to occupy in the country's landscape. A known semi-active volcano in the south heats up the region's surface giving it the warm, sultry climate that it's known particularly for. Scientists have also taken advantage of the volcano's magma chamber to convert the heat into usable energy to power cities and towns throughout Southern Tropicalis. Palm trees, coconut trees, vines, flowers and other tropical flora are native to the country and are found in large clusters that form forests and jungles. Thick and dense forests and mountains crowd the east and north-west regions of the country while beaches, lakes rivers and plains settle throughout the rest. These mountains and forests sometimes meet up and encounter each other to form watery and muddy forests and jungles, valleys with large bodies of water, as well as cliffs and fjords with jungles on the river's shoreline, atop mountains or rarely attempting to grow on cliff faces.
Most products are made in very clean, green, environmentally-friendly factories which are then processed and purified and checked before exporting to other countries either via air or sea. Many of these factories, like most other parts of Tropicalis are also mainly powered by high-tech solar panels which were obtained by trading and the help of Amataria, Ed Island and many other allies and also manufactured some themselves.
The official currency of Tropicalis is the Club Penguin Coin. This was officially declared after Tropicalis joined the Club Penguin Gold Alliance in 2007. Though the Tropicalian Dollar is not the official currency anymore, it is still accepted on the outer regions and islands such as Pengstado where many still accept the currency. Tropicalis doesn't mind the use of this, but encourages the public to use the CP Coin. The Tropicalian Dollar is worth 6 CP Gold Coins in most currency exchange. The dollar is not very common anymore and is rapidly shrinking. The mints have discontinued the making of Tropicalian Dollars as to encourage people to use CP Gold Coins. In some currency exchange shops, Tropicalian Dollars can still be exchanged to CP Gold Coins
Agriculture plays a significant role in Tropicalis' economy. Farms of different varieties, shapes and sizes populate the country far and wide and can be found mainly on the outskirts of smaller towns, cities and villages. It is common for most farms to grow bananas, coconuts, mangoes, pineapples, dragon fruit or other types of tropical fruits and vegetables which are sold and shipped off to other countries. In fact, Tropicalis is one of the top exporters of fruits, most notably the tropical kind.
As of the late 2000's, some farms have been converted to or constructed as vertical farms to occupy less space allow more vegetation to be grown on a wider scale and more faster rate. Despite this, many farms still use traditional methods of farming, most of these being in the countryside. A lot of these older farms, however, have employed the use of drones or other modern technology to generally improve their farms and help automate them.
Mining also comprises of a decent part of the country's economic system. Mines or excavation sites are setup mainly on outlying islands or overseas territories, away from any major cities or settlements. Pyrite, diamonds, crystals as well as other minerals, metals and precious stones are found in and mined out in most of these mines as well as a very rare metal exclusive to Tropicalis known as Linium. Adelia, one of two Tropicalian overseas provinces is home to the majority of these mines.
Since the days of the Sphenisdean Empire, trading has been a way for Tropicalis to exchange resources with other countries and establish better relations. Cargo freighters are the standard method of shipping large quantities of products while cargo planes are used to transport lighter cargo over farther distances.
Tropicalis often makes use of the Trans-Continental Air Cargo Route and SABER trading routes to gain access to other nations from mainland Antarctica, the Asiapelago, the Ninja Archipelago or elsewhere. A very extensive amount of trading is performed between Tropicalis' close allies (both in relations and in distance) and other trading partners such as Margate, South Joseon, Puffle'and, Ed Island and the Culldrome Isles. The frequency of trading with other nations is also boosted in international organizations of which Tropicalis has a membership in such as SATO, the Western Union and the UAN.
Technology plays a large role in the country, having been integrated heavily into Tropicalis' buildings, residences and its culture. Major tech companies within the country include Vision Inc. and NeoTech while other multinational corporations such as Peach Inc., Micro Hard and Soft and Eureka! have their own offices in the country, too. Internet access is available to a significant majority of the country, who use it through the use of computers, phones and other devices. The country also employs the use of holograms, robotics and automation which can be found in public spaces, hospitals and transportation. Maglev rails are also used in some trains and trams, many of which run on computers. The country's advancements in technology largely have to do with its Kanta Penguin population, whom have contributed through many notable scientists in the country's history, and represent a fairly large percentage of the population as a whole.
Linium, a resource exclusive to the country is often used for more advanced machinery, powering hovering vehicles (especially space-based aircraft) and the laser weapons of the country's military. The country also manufactures special electronic glass, information technology that has several uses and functions (displaying the time, weather, news). This type of glass is often used in place of whiteboards in some offices due to being more "interactive". The glass also doubles as a window due to its complete transparency and can be found in some houses in place of regular windows.
Tropicalis' telecommunication systems are handled by The Hallowed Governance of Electrical Infrastructure who has been handling their systems since the early 20th century. Telephone booths and kiosks can be found on every other street and can be used for 1 Club Penguin Coin which are accepted only if the call is successful and can easily be retrieved if the user is unsuccessful in making a call. Tropicalis was a former user of dial-up internet access in the early stages of computing and internet connections but were gradually replaced with the use of broadband services which provided better internet speed, were always active and other features which resulted in the decline of usage of dial-up internet. Nowadays, Tropicalis has roughly 12,000,000 internet users (total of 24,000,000 if colonies and territories combined) who access the internet almost daily via the use of smartphones, computers or other systems which require a connection to the online world. Tropicalis also has an internet connection speed of 68 mbps with an average speed of about 30 mbps.
Linium is a very reactive and unpredictable material, releasing high concentrations of energy under the right conditions, making it highly explosive in some cases. Linium is known to be and potentially dangerous while in its unrefined form, being unstable and prone to reaction. This often requires the substance to be kept in very cold temperatures after being extracted until it can be refined, as it is least likely to react and more stable in freezing temperatures.
The compound was first discovered by miners during the later years of the Colonial Age in 1817. Since then, scientists have conducted innumerable experiments and tests on Linium, attempting to exploit and benefit from its capabilities. Such examples include its use in the Khanzem War, where it was incorporated into weaponry to help deter the invasion of Khanzem soldiers in the country. This prompted scientists to make further developments, making use of its properties by creating more Linium-based technology and weaponry, including bombs, Linium-powered vehicles, and reactors.
In past years, the country used to run on power either generated from coal or oil imported from other countries or by converting water from the ocean. After Tropicalis' government began a project with a goal of making Tropicalis a more environmentally friendly country by improving the power system in early 2004, solar power and other renewable resource obtaining power plants gradually replaced the others. In the end, Tropicalis managed to convert most of the power plants to wind, solar and other more environmentally friendly power plants. Tropicalis' largest power plant, named the "EcoRiver Power Plant", (which is a combined solar and hydropower plant comprising of two segments) is located on an island in South Tropicalis which conprises of a small, but noticeable amount of the local region's electrical power.
Tropicalis has a very diverse culture and incorporates a mixture of both old and modern, including many aspects of modern lifestyle, as well as more older architecture which is primarily used in parks and in more recreational areas. Tropicalis shares similar features of it's culture with other countries such as Castilla and Puffle'and which are more pronounced depending on the region.
Having been considered something of a neutral country throughout most of its history, often refraining from joining in on international wars or issues, Tropicalis took the time to focus heavily on its own culture, namely its art, which remains a very prominent part of the country's culture and is of incredible value. Many artists in Antarctica are of Tropicalian origin, and the country has countless museums and galleries, most notably the Oval Museum in Lagois City. Numerous art colleges and universities also exist across the country, allowing citizens and students to pursue jobs as artists.
Tropicalian cuisine nowadays offers a wider selection of foods due to it's multiculturalism, but still has an sizeable amount of unique foods. Continent-wide fast food chains such as Taco Ball, Dank Burgers, Pizza 7, Eastshield Fried Fish, Fisch and Chips and (sadly) McDoodle's, as well as vegetarian chains such as Veggie Emporium, exist in many of the country's densely and populous cities and towns. Tropicalis also has an array of it's own special foods, most notably seafood dishes, salads, soups and stews, fish and chips, ice cream, chocolate pizza and other dishes. Drinks include water, juices (pineapple, orange, apple, mango, grape, coconut), fruit punch, coffee, hot chocolate, coffee and Cream Soda. Tropicalians like to mix different juices to create different flavours and variants which are sold at bars and restaurants. Tropicalis is also known for it's hot chocolate which attracts penguins from all over the continent.
Basketball is the most popular sport in the country, played by roughly 850,000 closely followed by football (or soccer) with 760,000 players. Basketball and football courts and stadiums can be found throughout most cities where fans would come together to play mainly for fun or just for practice. Aquatic sports have also gained an incredible amount of fame and players throughout the country due to it's climate and geography. Penguins normally surf on warm days down by coastal areas and beaches where they can surf along the biggest waves they can find and may sometimes bring their red puffles with them. Aqua Grabbing and Hydro Hopping are also just as popular with Hydro Hoppers found in wide, open areas of the sea where there is enough space to manoeuvrer around and Aqua Grabbers found in Southern Tropicalis and Coral Archipelago where large, deep reefs can be explored with numerous hidden treasures in it's many caves and cavities. Canoeing is also a well-liked sport which penguins and puffles like to do in fast-flowing rivers and calm lakes depending on personal preference. Wakeboarding also exists and take place around Tropicalis' northern shores and islands where countless tricks can be performed in the sandy and rocky terrain.
Games and activities that are popular on a continent-wide scale such as Card-Jitsu and Jet Pack Adventure have also made their way into Tropicalis' list of favourites. Ever since Card-Jitsu and Jet Pack Adventure became popular, launch pads and dojos, ninja training academies and Card-Jitsu dedicated facilities can be found around major cities and is gaining popularity with more new Card-Jitsu players and Jet Pack Adventurers every day.
The official languages of Tropicalis are English, Spanish and Latin. However, in the province of Pengstado, it is more common for residents to have Latin and English as their primary languages and Spanish as their second rather than the usual format. During the early days of the country's recorded history, Latin was originally spoken country-wide and was how young chicks were educated until the soon popularizing Spanish language surpassed the amount of Latin speakers in the 1600's due to it being stated that it was much easier to learn. Most of the Pengstadoans who were at the time very rebellious refused to adapt to the new system and continued using Latin (which even after the civil war, Latin was still the province's primary language).
Tropicalian Spanish also differs slightly from the way Castillians or other hispanic countries speak the language. Certain words and phrases are more common or used in place of others but nevertheless, it is still understandable to other Spanish speakers.

The country is well-known for it's wide variety of architectural styles incorporated into its buildings across many cities. Lagois City is home to several skyscrapers of both old and contemporary architecture which are great examples of Tropcalis' designs. On the other hand, some of the country's other cities are very uniform in terms of architectural styles, with entire skylines comprising of the same or similar styles. For example, Penguinas is almost exclusively high-tech and modern in terms of architecture while Barhamados is renowned for heavily integrating neon lighting into its buildings.
New Sandboro is known for housing many modern-styled housing in it's large suburban areas which are lower costing. Buildings are made of metals including steel, titanium, and various other materials which are obtained from the mines. Glass and copper are also used in architecture, on the outside while copper is only usually used in the inside for pipe material. Regular igloos aren't used mainly because of the heat, and instead penguins live in residences made of wood, brick or other common materials. Marble is also not an uncommon choice of building material especially inside office buildings and public buildings such as malls or museums.
Though pollution levels in the country are somewhat low, several Tropicalis' cities (especially large or major cities) struggle to cope with moderate to high levels of photopollution due to the immense use of lighting during the night. This often decreases visibility in the sky at night and makes it very difficult to see stars at night, usually prompting astronomers in the country to travel to more rural or isolated areas.
Tropicalis is an avid exporter of most of Antarctica's tropical fruits, including bananas, pineapples, coconuts, mangoes and much more. Beakily and Adelia are known for having numerous underground caves containing resources such as pyrite, diamonds and crystals, as well as Linium, a material exclusive to Tropicalis which makes the two provinces good mining spots. Trees are very common throughout the islands, and it has been made mandatory by the government that jungles and forests are replenished to protect the environment.
The government of the country has it's main headquarters in Del Tropico, Tropicapolis, Tropicalis. It is near the coast of the city. It consists of a total of 52 rooms and is quite large. The president's office is here as well as meetings and discussions between other countries. There are usually bodyguards and security guards at each end of the corridors.
Tropicalis has it's own unique system based around oligarchy. The power is traditionally handed down from generation to generation and the leader is called the president. If the current ruler steps down, the next in line will come to power. If not, then another relative of the president shall be the president. If there are none, or if nobody is willing to accept the role of president, then the public has the right to elect a new leader. Presidents function nearly identical to how a regular president would work. Prime ministers are elected every four years.
Crime is fairly low in Tropicalis mainly due to an able and adequate police force. Despite this, crime still happens some areas more than others. The highest crime rate is in Lagois City which is large and is rumoured to have UPM branch here but it is unknown if this is true or where their headquarters are. Pengstado is also known to have a moderate crime rate as well. The police only arm themselves if it's really required, and are usually patrolling the streets every week. Otherwise, they will use batons, and call for backup. The police use different modes of transport and also use helicopters to pursue targets.
Laws & Policies
Tropicalis tries to remain as clean as possible so that they can preserve and maintain their landscape and keep it from being contaminated. Disposing of rubbish into the ocean is counted as an illegal action and can lead to jail sentences. Penguins 18 years or older are counted as adults, but some restaurants, or other locations restrict certain actions to those 20 years or older. Judgies are rumoured to have been smuggled into the country by the Mafia but are banned in the country anyways.
Tropicalis has its own intelligence agency and organization, the Tropicalian Secret Intelligence Service, who are headquartered in the Polyturris, a skyscraper in central Tropicapolis, the national capital. TSIS is known to be quite secretive with the details of their operations, and normally operate domestically, but does have international agents who work on behalf of them.
The agency is partnered with the Elite Penguin Force, who don't usually serve Tropicalis, but have their own special dedicated floor in the Polyturris when working internationally, as well as a dedicated building to themselves in the heart of Lagois City.
Tropicalis' current flag has a long history, having been used since the days of the Kingdom of Tropicalis. It was was created and adopted around the 1700's, sometime after the Second Sphenisdean Civil War during the Kingdom's creation.
The orange sides of the flag represent the sun and the warmer climate that the country has. The yellow represents the sand that is commonly found in coastal areas as well as surrounding most of the country's islands. The palm tree in the flag's center is a palma tropicalia, a native species of flora that the country was named after. The palm tree represents growth, while the 9 individual palm leaves are believed to represent the core values of the nation.
Other variations of this flag exist, such as the flag of the Tropicalian Armed Forces. The flag itself is also displayed on the corner of some of the country's territories and colonies, examples being the flag of Lao, the Extraterrestrial Colonies, and the Coral Archipelago.
Another famed symbol is the banner of the Tropicaliber, a tricolour blue and yellow banner sporting a black palma tropicalia. Though the Tropicaliber became officially disbanded shortly after the creation and incorporation of the current Republic of Tropicalis, their banner or its colours are still sometimes used by Tropicalians in the present day, used to represent freedom and independence.
Palm trees in general are defining, national symbols of the country, often being sported on the ensigns, logos or emblems of local government-associated companies. The palma tropicalia, also known as the Tropicalian Palm, is a plant native to the local region, the official national symbol of the country, and in most cases, is often the type of tree used in these logos. Derived from "tropicalia", an old name used by the Penguin Empire to describe the Tropicalian region, the palma tropicalia is almost exclusive to Tropicalis, though some can be found in nearby tropical countries such as the Warmslates. While some of these palm populations occur naturally, most of them are introduced to the area artificially.
Coat of Arms
Tropicalis is comprised of 9 main provinces which together form the mainland. It also has two overseas provinces, Adelia and the Coral Archipelago, with the former being located on the north-east corner of the Tropicalian Sea and the latter located south-south east of Tropicalis' ocean territories. Tropicalis owns a few colonies and territories around the continent, as well as on the moon and in space.
- Centro de Tropicalia - Sometimes called Central Tropicalis, it is an area located on the shore of the Avian Sea and spanning from the middle of Tropicalis to the east south eastern side of Tropicalis. It is home to the capital, Tropicapolis and is the second most largest state.
- Pengstado - Pengstado is an island up in the northern areas of Tropicalis. It is known for mostly being sunny, warm and it's many cheap, large market areas. Many markets still accept the Tropicalian Dollar here. After the many battles and fights during the Tropicalian Civil War, the Pengstado rebels who wanted to become their own country surrendered and a peace treaty was signed. Ever since, there have been no conflicts between Pengstado and the mainland. Pengstado is mainly home to Southern Kanta Penguins which make up 53% of all penguins that live here. Pengstado doesn't have too many roads so most penguins use bikes to get to where they need to. There are roads that go to other parts of the island, though.
- Beakily - Beakily is home to Lagois City, the former capital and largest city of the entire country. The province takes up a majority of Beakíl Island. Beakily is rather crowded and makes up most of Tropicalis' population.
- Arbos Islands - The Arbos Islands are where the Adelie penguins first settled down and where they first lived when they came to Tropicalis. The Arbos Islands are mainly uninhabited today, but are more colder than most islands and there aren't many beaches here. On one of the islands is the Tropicalis National Observatory Tower which predicts the weather for some regions and records data that concerns astronomy and constellations.
- Western Tropicalis - Western Tropicalis comprises of most of the western side of the country's mainland.
- Southern Tropicalis - What makes up most of the southern part of the main island including some of the islands below it. It is the warmest part of the country and contains a majority of the country's geothermal power plants.
- Agualon - Northern part of Beakíl Island, largest city Barhamados. It was settled by Penguin Empire colonists, who at the time had named their colony "Aqualonium".
- Northern Tropicalis - The northern parts of Tropicalis, though the western parts of the province are less populated and home to a large portion of jungle.
- Eastern Tropicalis - Located on the left side of Beakíl Island, under Agualon.
- Adelia - An overseas province of Tropicalis where the Adelie refugees originated from.
- Coral Archipelago - An overseas province containing around 8 islands. Home to a coral reef and a vast population of sea creatures. The archipelago is home to many volcanoes, yet they are confirmed to be extinct.
Colonies & Territories
- Gernomia - Gernomia is a colony of Tropicalis located somewhere south west of Tropicalis. It is under Margate and above the Seal Islands. It was explored by a team of Adelie Penguins and after a few years, many of the Adelies moved there. The colony is mostly made out of Germanic Viking Penguins, Adelie Penguins and puffles. Gernomia is known for it's different culture and style and being very similar to Alemania and Osterreach.
- Macarooni - Originally discovered by explorers from the Kingdom of Tropicalis, it serves a very important role in the farming and agricultural business, owning a majority of Tropicalis' farms.
- Tropicalian Extraterrestrial Colonies - A series of currently small colonies on the Moon, Mars, and (in development) Saturn's moon, Titan. The only proper settlements are on the Moon, though nobody there is a permanent resident.
- Tropicalian Ocean Territories - Areas of the ocean owned by Tropicalis especially around the island with not many residents as the mainland. They are mainly used for military purposes.
- Lao - A territory of Tropicalis comprised of around 10 islands. It's known for it's tranquillity and almost all year-round warm climate. In contrast to the rest of the country, Lao can be considered more of an "old town".

To this day, penguins in Tropicalis come from a diverse array of countries, expanding it's still ever-growing total population of 30 million altogether (overseas territories and colonies included). A large portion of Tropicalis' population are Emperor Penguins, who are abundant to the country and have existed since the early years of the country's pre-history. Many adelies still live in Tropicalis ever since they fled to the country after the downfall of the Penguin Empire and are also a vital segment in the country's population. Some High Penguins also live in Tropicalis, many of which are descendants of those who fled from Khanzem during the early 1900's; however a small quantity of them retain full High Penguin ethnicity.

Tropicalis' road system is called the Tropicalis Highway System which is used by million of penguins and puffle daily. Roads run through just about every inch of the country spanning across thousands of acres of land. Almost every town and city is interlinked to road systems, making it easier to travel around the country by road. Roads in Tropicalis are sustained well, and are upgraded and renovated on when in need of it. Most major towns and cities contain highways to help ease traffic. Due to occasional road pollution issues in the past, Tropicalis nowadays has plants or trees adorning most roads and streets to lower pollution and be more eco-friendly all together. Tropicalis doesn't have very many local vehicle manufacturers and instead has them exported from overseas or relies on continent-wide car companies who have branches based in Tropicalis. Road vehicles in Tropicalis normally run on electricity, which the government believes is a more environmentally friendly choice and should lower pollution altogether. Bicycles are also common forms of transport in some less urbanized cities such as Beaksledge, which have many biking lanes and paths for bikes to use.
Taxis, which also run on electricity are usually found in most cities travelling through major cities and towns looking for passengers. Scooters are also a form of transport present throughout the country and are known to be widely used by restaurants and fast-food restaurants when delivering food to households.
Air travel is an important mode of transportation in Tropicalis due to it's location in the ocean which would likely be a long, slow journey by sea. Tourism relies heavily on air travel which allows citizens, tourists and visitors to travel far and wide to countries all over the continent. Not every city or town in Tropicalis is known to have an airport, and residents of said towns and cities either have access to a nearby airport which serves the local region or have to travel to the nearest airport which in some cases could be far away. Planes sometimes have to pass through Tropicalis making it necessary for the country to have an effective and organized airport. A good example would be the Tropicapolis International Airport which not only serves the city of Tropicapolis, it's surrounding metropolitan area and other neighbouring municipalities but is also the most busiest airport in the country due to the countless planes having to pass through and because of the capital city itself. Tropicalian airports are also known for their cleanness, security and modern looks, as well as usually being up to date with most current technology. Airports are always linked to road systems and may sometimes have a special airport shuttle bus or an airport express train that travels through the city and/or straight to the airport. Lagois City's MTS system provides a special railway line that runs directly to the airport.
Tropicalis also has several aviation centers or airports specially dedicated to them for flying or testing many types of aircraft such as jets, helicopters or perhaps a completely different or experimental air vehicle altogether. Tropicalis is also known to use helicopters as forms of transportation but are uncommonly open for public use. Helicopter companies can sometimes be seen, especially in major cities and can be hired to take a certain but limited amount of passengers from one place to another for a rather expensive fee. Tropicalis' many local police departments or hospitals use helicopters as transportation for several purposes such as airlifting patients to hospital or pursing a criminal.
Blimps, zeppelins and other airships are also not uncommon to find in the country, with the country having made widespread use of them. In places such as Lagois City and Penguinas, airship tours are held annually where citizens can get a tour from above which offer great sightseeing opportunities. Airships are also sometimes used as transportation, typically to more higher-up places or areas without proper runways for planes.
Sea is another widely used form of transport used in Tropicalis for hundreds of years, ever since the Sphenisdean Empire. Travelling by sea is also crucial, as Tropicalis is based on an archipelago. Seaports are established in almost every city built along the sea or coastal areas which ferries may deliver or transfer passengers to other nearby coastal cities or seaports. Cargo ships will often dock at these ports to deliver imported resources or materials. Major cities like Tropicapolis and Lagois City have larger and more than one seaport for different uses such as ferry ports, boat piers and shipping companies. Some penguins may own yachts or speedboats which can also be found docked in piers and harbours such as Tropicapolis' Starfish Harbour piers and docking areas. Tropicalis is also a hub for cruise ship companies which have ships taking passengers on tours of Tropicalis' ocean or sometimes going to or coming from nearby overseas countries or cities.
Tropicalis' coasts and ocean territories are patrolled by the Tropicalian Coast Guard, which acts against pirates and smuggling and manages security on the ocean. Tropicalis also uses the SABER trading route when shipping and sea trading.
Tropicalis has a fast and efficient railway system which runs on electricity like most other vehicles. Railway systems are mainly used for public transport to transfer citizens from one place to another either within a city or beyond city limits. Railroads both run underground and overground in the country, and sometimes through mountains and over lakes. Railroad systems are usually limited to a single island unless there are any nearby islands which are close enough to have bridges connecting them. Trains are also used for maintenance and to transport goods and materials easily from city to city. Railroads are also sometimes linked to seaports so cargo can be transported easily without needing the use of trucks which would take much longer when compared to railroad travel. Some cities, like Sunrise City, have monorail systems built or others, like Tropicapolis have systems like the Tropicapolis Tramways System which have trams running alongside roads. Some places have light-rails built that stretch over to other nearby cities or towns like the Beaksledge-Tropicapolis light rail link. Airport trains links exist too which allow easy access from a railway system to local airports.
See main page: Tropicalian Armed Forces
Tropicalis has a strong military with around 1,000,000 penguins in it which ranks it as the 15th largest in Antarctica. The soldiers try their best to be as efficient as possible and try to form strategies and plans before attacking. The military was formed sometime around the year Pengtivius I came to power and he built himself an army full of soldiers. The soldiers would later go to battle in the Tropicalian Civil War and grow stronger over the years. The military has different divisions. They have an air force, navy and land force. The soldiers would assist and fight in many wars. Thanks to technology, the military is more advanced and uses better armour and newer and more efficient weapons. The military also calls aid from it's allies such as the Western Union or some of Tropicalis' colonies.
Sometimes, if Tropicalis' allies are in major trouble and in need of reinforcements, for example, the army will do their best to assist their allies. There is a fortress where the army recruits train on a remote island. There is also a super secret branch of the military that specializes in using abnormal, experimental and advanced technology to try and improve the efficiency and power of the military. The military is currently trying to implement the use of holograms and auto-controlled tanks that can tell the difference between enemy factions and their own team. Currently, they are using robot soldiers in training that fire non-lethal projectiles that don't injure.
Soldiers use rifles, sniper rifles, shotguns and specially developed canons that all fire laser projectiles as well as smoke bombs, night-vision and a very special branch that uses keysabers and keydaggers. The army also has one very powerful plasma missile which has never been used and will only be used if the situation gets critical. The bomb is able to obliterate a large island and reduce a large sized city to dust in around 20 seconds. However, it is heavily guarded and hasn't been used, and is only used as a last resort.
Another example of one of their lethal weapons is a high-speed gun which fires projectiles at 2,350 mph (3781 kmph) and can pierce many obstacles. It has a rapid-fire mode, too. Sleeping gas is also used to subdue enemy troops as well as poison gas. Laser projectiles can also be used with the high speed guns for maximum power. Deletion bullets can be used with these guns if the troops really have no choice but to do so. The navy and marine branch of Tropicalis have their own soldiers and guards who patrol the ocean territories. The military is mainly used for defense, and it is considered normal for them to also have planes, and other types of aircraft patrolling the territories regularly. Though, Tropicalis will use it's military to attack if needed to.
Tanks are also used which fire similar laser-like projectiles that to those of the troops. The soldiers have have a battleship named The Scrutinizer which is the strongest (and most PWNsome) of the fleet and has been through many battles and has always survived though quite damaged some times. The military has many different kinds of developed lethal weapons but are not used that often, especially if the mission is not important. The military also consists of advanced aircrafts which can travel beyond the stratosphere and just a few meters above the mesosphere. They are all equipped with flare-like, small missile-lick rocket projectiles that burn white hot and either home in on the target or explode on contact. The projectiles can travel up to a maximum speed of 2,800 kmph and around 12 of these hitting a building is enough to bring down 3 floors of the building.
Tropicalian soldiers' armor is engineered to be protective as possible and efficient. Most troops wear regular armor that is lighter and helps them move faster. Reinforced bullet resistant material is used and embedded in troops equipped for more dangerous and serious missions. The uniform and helmet makes the wearer less vulnerable to most armor piercing bullets and more stronger (thanks to the help of Dr. Infinity) and is more lightweight. This, however does not mean it doesn't make the armor heavy. Because of this, the troops wearing this uniform are slower even though they don't really look like it. Thanks to improving technology, this armor is improving, and is gradually getting less heavier.
The military has several bases and areas deployed around Antarctica's shores and seas. One is in between Sub-Antarctica and Flystonia. The largest, called Puerto Fortaleza is located in the country's oceanic territories and has around 20,000 soldiers stationed there and 6 aircraft carriers normally present. The Tropicalian Ocean Territories is home to several military bases, all of which are mainly built on primarily undeveloped or uninhabited islands. The Tropicalian Scientific Research Laboratories are located out here, and is used to test and create experimental projects and ideas including defensive technology, many of which make their way in to helping the the military protect the island.
