User:Seahorseruler/How I think a wiki should work
Hi, I just wanted to let everyone see my personal view on how a standard wiki should work, it is beneficial and will probably eliminate arguments. If you quickly glance over to the CPW, on the actual wiki, you should notice that there has not really been a big "fight" in almost a year. Please allow me to explain somethings I found to work best on a wiki, and I hope you take something into consideration :)
The roll of Admins[edit]
Admins are not "superior" or anything more than a user. An administrator is someone who has taken the decision to help keep a wiki running smoothly and clean, not the 5 star general of the wiki. Administrators should be seen as regular users who volunteered to help direct the community and to have some extra tools to fight vandalism and moderate some basic things to a limit. Not everyone should be an admin, remember its only a few regular users who decide to help out and are no more powerful in the community than someone else. Also, Administrators, the way they are picked here now, is not really what I would call the best system. If I were to suggest a system, it would basically be:
- 2 users must nominate a user for adminship, one must be an admin, the other can be anyone.
- A vote is held for the nominated user, only "For" or "Against".
- The user must get a +7 vote difference to be promoted. No exceptions.
What about Bureaucrats?[edit]
Bureaucrats are simply administrators, who will be given the basic right to give user rights to other users, and are also just regular users. There should only be a maximum of 3 Bureaucrats, no more, as Bureaucrats are the exact same thing as admins, but just able to assign user rights, and have no more say than an administrator does.
Discussions[edit]
Community discussions, or "Votes", can be started by anyone if they feel one is needed. Anyone can participate in discussions, including admins. Admins are generally supposed to moderate the discussions and are the ones who could close the discussion once it has finished. Discussions should never be seen as "Arguments", "Fights", or "Flame Wars". Yes, of course discussions have 2 sides, like in any, but the disagreements should be discussed calmly without any drama.
