User blog:Triskelle3/Too Old To Trick or Treat?
My teacher said I was too old to trick or treat today. It made me very angry!
I believe you're never too old!!! I enjoy Halloween so much, and I love that older kids are still willing to dress up. The teens who don't dress up? My Mum gets them to sing a silly song for their treats. There's so much to be serious about out there...what's a couple extra chocolate bars for a smile?
So, if trick or treating is for kids under a particular age and parties with alcohol are for the 18 age groups what is left for those inbetween? It's fine to have a perspective of what is too old for trick or treating, but if there is an age limit then there needs to be something for kids to do to participate besides toilet paper cards and be public nuisances. Too often, "big kids" get forgotten. And that is when they start to be problems.
It's unfair that teenagers fall into a 'no fun land' because we're deemed too old for kids stuff but can't have the fun adults have either. Then how can adults complain all we do is sit in front of the computer or loiter in shopping malls? As long as we are respectful and they want to be part of the celebration, I don't think older kids should be excluded.
Trick or treat is a time when any one can go out and have fun. As long as the older ones do not bother the younger kids what's the harm? It's honest fun. I don't care how old the trick or treaters are they are all allowed to have fun on this carefree evening. Why not indulge them? There are so few things that can bring such free spirited pleasure. Why limit it just to the young. It's a little something to look forward to. What do you think?
Hallo'ween is my favourite holiday!
