It has been confirmed that Club Penguin will shut down soon to make way for CPI, however when exactly this will happen is currently unknown.

Club Penguin Island is a lie, there is only Club Penguin.
Through Club Penguin, users gain ideas.
Through ideas, CPFW gains edits.
Through edits, CPFW gains articles.
Through articles and edits, the wiki stays alive.
Club Penguin shall save CPFW.

So apparently, CPI is a separate island far away (which I'm assuming is also that tiny red speck that you see in the telescope). I'm thinking they could possibly have their own set of servers? The tiny red speck is Shipwreck Island, not CPI. Penguins were able to go there during Rockhopper's Quest in 2012. --
