Just thought I'd answer Penstubal's questions for you since I happen to be passing by with no other particular pastime at the moment -

1. If that's about Chill proposing to demote Bro and Wonder, then both sides end up as the same - if you vote "not no", you end up voting "yesssss", so...
2. Idk about that sry
3. Don't go on IRC/webchat so idk sry

Duck Island[edit]

Hi Quacker,

I'm not going to beat around the bush: many users on this wiki, and all five administrators believe that your star article, Duck Island is quite poorly-written and is in need of major improvements. Its quality as of now is not befitting of a country article, nor is it of good enough quality to justify entrance into the Western Union. Since you created the article two years ago, details on many core topics such as politics, economics, cultural matters and military matters are lacking to say the least.

If Duck Island isn't significantly improved soon, then the admins are in general agreement that the page should be moved out of continuity and into userspace until it becomes a good page.

It is our understanding that you are most likely capable of fixing this page to make it a respectable article, and there are users here who would be more than happy to help you make it into a suitable HQA.

Below is a non-exhaustive list of some of my biggest issues with Duck Island, and I'm sure much of the community agrees with me on this:

  • Repetitive quacking isn't a language. Spamming "quack" multiple times in a row, sometimes capitalized, doesn't qualify as meaningful content by any means.
  • Your country's list of rulers is incredibly repetitive, and has no real content aside from a handful of entries. Considering how much of it is copy+pasted, this entire list is borderline spam.
    • "He was Fat Duck's Great x(idkhowmany) Grandfather." ~ Putting "idkhowmany" in an article is bad practice, just so you know. :)
  • Your anthem is word-for-word the Duck Song. really? Could you not be at least slightly more creative? Plus, there's no quality that comes from typing those lyrics on to the page.
  • This isn't an article quality thing, but there are plenty of users who can make good state and territorial flags for you if you'd like. The ones you have on there right now would make /r/vexillology have a collective aneurysm.
  • Topics such as taxes, tax loopholes, and unemployment statistics have only one or two sentences each dedicated to them. This would be pretty easy to flush out.
    • How much, on average, do Duckish citizens pay in tax?
    • Taxes on the rich? On businesses?
    • What types of people are unemployed?
  • This. is. atrocious. You seriously need to think a bit more about naming your cities and towns, and then describing what makes each of them special. Simply copy+pasting "A city." over and over again is lazy and completely unacceptable.
    • Your states are "Duck Island", "Duck Island 2" and "Duck Island 3". Really?
  • Even though your demographics state that Duck Island has 45% penguin population, this page is still woefully lacking in penguin/puffle content. This is the Club Penguin Fanon Wiki after all.
  • Your military section is mostly made up of copy+pasted lists of ships. This is borderline spam.
    • Also, there's no way Duck Island should possess 26 aircraft carriers. That's really OP, just saying.
  • Foreign relations section can always be flushed out a bit my adding more countries.

Again, this is just the list of things I saw while skimming through the Duck Island page. I implore you to work on improving this page as best you can, before the administration decides to take matters into its own hands.

Thank you!

If you move pages to your sandbox[edit]

Remove every link to it first --User:EDFan12345 12:37, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

You're not supposed to move pages in and out of userspace willy nilly. In terms of continuity, moving a page to your sandbox is essentially the same as deleting it. There's no reason you can't slap a construction template on the page and work on it in mainspace, and by no means should you ever link to userspace on a mainspace article. --User:EDFan12345 13:03, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

Ah, well I just took the template you used from wikia and made it slightly less bad. --CKAdmin 14:55, 12 February 2019 (UTC)

P.S. The Penstubal Post Page also says "The Penstubal Post publishes its issues daily at exactly midnight and they're all in the stores by next morning. It takes the Penstubal Post just a few hours to finish writing an issue, and a large board of writers is responsible for getting each article done every day." Note the use of daily and day instead of weekly and week.

Hi Quacker,

After a long discussion with the rest of the admin team, we've decided that it's in yours and the wiki's best interest to give you a temporary block.

Your behavior for the past couple of months has been consistently annoying, argumentative, petty, and counterproductive. You have been given multiple warnings by multiple admins regarding your conduct, yet you don't seem to have taken any of these warnings seriously. We've been quite lenient with your behavior thus far, but judging by your actions in spite of the warnings we've given you so far, the only tool we have left in our arsenal is a block. I've left user talk editing open, so you may reply to this message if you so wish.

Starting revert wars, whining "OOC!" whenever some user makes/writes something you don't like in the slightest, pettily adding {{QualityReview}} on pages are just a few of the reasons why the situation has escalated to this. Your constant antagonistic attitude towards any actions/edits/users you don't wholly agree with has been tolerated for far too long and must be dealt with at some point; that point is now. You are not a martyr; you're not being "sacrificed" so that we can send a "message" to and scare other problematic users. Don't even think about starting that narrative. Long story short, you're being blocked for continually spitting in the face of community standards and making this wiki a less peaceful and more painful place for the rest of us to edit.

Please take these next five days to reflect on your actions and feel free to inquire below if you think anything I've said is off-base.

I mean the article is fairly bad compared to what it should be. Their role as elite ninjas above the rest would stay the same. --User:EDFan12345 16:01, 19 February 2019 (UTC)

Reviewing tips[edit]

When you review a story, you can go more in depth by talking about elements of the story you liked and didn't like, showing the reasons why you gave the story the rating you did. Maybe there was a particular scene you really liked, or a certain character really annoyed you and hindered your experience. It works the same way the CPW party reviews did; maybe you'd rate a party 5 stars because you thought there were plenty of decorations and things to do and the items were great, or you gave it a lower rating because it was lackluster and there wasn't much to do or stuff you just didn't like at all. I hope you take my advice into consideration and that this helps you make reviews that go farther than "I liked this story". --Chill57181 (Talk - Contributions - My Articles) 20:15, 21 February 2019 (UTC)

Duck Island OOC[edit]

As per your discussion with Wonderweez on IRC, time is running out to make meaningful and within continuity changes to Duck Island. Since the article was created in 2016, you have not significantly changed it in any way to reduce concerns about its connection to CP or the Fanon Wiki universe. Simply changing numbers and percentages aren't enough in our eyes. You have two weeks until March 7 to improve Duck Island to the standard set by other countries on the wiki in terms of both content and quality. Some articles you can look to for inspiration include Castilla, Zhou, or Malesia. The choice of how to improve the article is up to you, but I strongly suggest reading up on the OOC policy and working with admins for the best way to do so.

Perhaps consider the options Wonder or Penstubal told you about such as making Ducks tourists with a small population to "protect interests" (a la McMurdo Station in real life Antarctica), making them all tourists, or to consult us as to the best path forward for your article. Failure to do so will result in administrative action being taken regarding your country, along with all related colonies and territories you made or have OOC rights to.

Once again, I encourage you to please talk with Wonder, myself, or the other admins about the best way to go about improving Duck Island. They are chock full of ideas, experience, and can certainly lead you on the right path if you give them the chance. At the same time, simply contracting your work out to another user will not be considered by the administration. This ultimatum is for you and no other user, no matter how much others may improve the article. --User:EDFan12345 01:29, 22 February 2019 (UTC)

vice president is just the dude who replaces the president in case he dies or resigns, he replaced the president (elections don't get effected - they normally take place and the vice president runs instead of the president)

president has the power to veto bills (prevent them from becoming laws - parliament votes on laws and passes them, but the president can block them coming into effect - he can only block bills that have less than 66% support). president also represents your country abroad. in presidential systems (president-vice president), president is the head of the government --Penstubal (Talk) (Edits) 11:19, 7 March 2019 (UTC)

because Estonia doesn't have a presidential system, it has a parliamentary system (president-prime minister) where president is head of state and prime minister head of government. In that kind of country, president is a largely ceremonial role, serving only to represent the country in front of foreign leaders and to veto laws the president disagrees with (as I explained). --Penstubal (Talk) (Edits) 11:36, 7 March 2019 (UTC)

nothing but to replace the president in case he resigns, is killed, impeached or he temporary cannot exercise his power (such as when he is shot and is in hospital, etc.) --Penstubal (Talk) (Edits) 11:45, 7 March 2019 (UTC)

Generally speaking, parliamentary systems wouldn't have a vice president at all. Most countries either have a president and a prime minister OR a president and a vice-president, depending on how you want your government set up. In parliamentary systems, if the president/PM dies, his party would just pick a new leader and then hold an election. --CAN'DUH Bro Talk to me! OH YEEEEEEAH 13:41, 7 March 2019 (UTC)

RE: Duck Island OOC[edit]

Per a lengthy discussion with Ed and Bro, we decided to extend your deadline thanks to the marginally good improvements you have done. That being said, there are new conditions for you to be aware of:

  • You have until Sunday, March 10th at 11:59pm EST (that's Eastern Standard Time [USA]) to improve Duck Island through removing OOC references.
  • If you fail to meet this deadline, there are to be no further extensions given.
  • While the above applies, punishment might include moving the article to user space or changing the article ourselves to remove OOC references, per our discretion outlined in the Policy.
  • I will not be hearing arguments relating to a lack of time. It will be a weekend. Please use this time wisely to make Duck Island within the context of the wiki.

In regards to what might need fixing, you have fixed the demographics issue, now please make the rest of the article line up with that. -Wonderweez (Talk · Contribs) 01:56, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

Linking to mainspace[edit]

Just because the additional links Chill recently deleted left redlinks on other pages doesn't mean you should recreate them. It means you should remove the redlinks from pages and templates. Now thjat the search feature is back, it should be easier to re-add those links later if you ever get around to making any of those pages. --CKAdmin 00:27, 9 March 2019 (UTC)

Hey there Quacker! I've been considering how to tweak DI a little, and I'm sort of looking at the geography and considering how to develop the thing a little. Is there anything I need to know about the listed places or your reference materials for them before I get to work? No worries I'll be running them through with you before I do anything major. --ARB ARB logo.png the woes of being a creative 12:59, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

The WU project has ultimately failing with some very important member states leaving or threatening to leave, and the WU by now has basically become nothing more than a club of you, Brant and I. That's why I'm rebranding it as the New Circular Alliance, and I invite Duck Island to join it as soon as it is taken out of rewrite zone. --Penstubal (Talk) (Edits) 14:09, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

If you'd actually look at WhatLinksHere you'd see no articles link to those redirects, unlike where you didn't remove a single link to any of the pages you moved to userspace. Additionally since it looks like you're targeting Chill's pages alone it doesn't exactly look like an unbiased attempt.

I should also add you have a significant amount of links on pages that just redirect to templates, which should also be removed. --User:EDFan12345 15:50, 15 March 2019 (UTC)

I agree with the above, it looks you're going out of your way to add delete templates to old redirects (that aren't actually linked in mainspace) just because Chill annoyed you. --CKAdmin 15:56, 15 March 2019 (UTC)

Hey Quacker,

I am aware of this. I am reframing the "evil ducks" as revolutionaries to make it sound nicer, as I feel just blatantly calling them "evil ducks" didn't fit the quality I'm aiming for, or the inclusion of penguins into the overall article. The "good ducks" are going to be your normal, run of the mill citizens that get affected by this, and whose loyalties lie with the central government. The article is a heavy work in progress, and unfortunately I haven't had the time I had hoped to have to fix this while I am on break, so this will likely take some time to do. I aim to rewrite/reframe most of the events that are on there, so don't worry too much about the current wordage of it. -Wonderweez (Talk · Contribs) 16:23, 15 March 2019 (UTC)

Rest assured, my priorities are mostly your pre-20th century timelines and improving the history of the 20th and 21st century through grammar, etc. -Wonderweez (Talk · Contribs) 16:44, 15 March 2019 (UTC)
In order to improve the article, I have to get creative in regards to the time gap between leaders. This means adding new leaders, but not changing your other ones. This also allows me to frame Duck Island as not just a "duck rulerz only" country up until Waddly. Trust me when I say that I am respecting your wishes to not change out your rulers, but also remember that adding things is necessary to improve it. If you don't like what we are doing, you are more than welcome to move it to userspace and work on it yourself, though bear in mind that this would affect whether DI continues to be in continuity or not. -Wonderweez (Talk · Contribs) 23:28, 19 March 2019 (UTC)
I don't consider a userspace page to be canon. That being said I modified the events to reflect the time. -Wonderweez (Talk · Contribs) 14:18, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

Personally, I think Chill P. Beachball doesn't have as much potential to be a good article as Melonheadquino does. I think we should delete it - besides, my idea came first, it was only a matter of time when I was actually going to publish it on the wiki. Besides, Chill P. Beachball seems a lot like harassment and without any real creativeness unlike Melonheadquino. --Penstubal (Talk) (Edits) 12:15, 29 April 2019 (UTC)

Chill P. Beachball was just blatant slander towards Chill; "Hey this is Chill but he's a naughtzee", using his old name too. Not even close to Scrubbypingu. --CKAdmin 06:57, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

Chill P. Beachball is straight up harassment with little to no creativity involved. Scrubbypingu, Melonheadquino, Pensturu, Scrub and Melonhead all have creativity involved and unlike Chill P. Beachball are way more than just '(insert user) sucks'. --Penstubal (Talk) (Edits) 10:22, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

If I were you, I'd suggest just giving it up and help me improve Melonheadquino to the point it's a very good article. I believe it's way better than scattering our efforts across two different articles in the first place anyway. --Penstubal (Talk) (Edits) 17:45, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

The DI Flag image was uploaded there due to extraneous circumstances beyond my control. If I had the option to, I would have used imgur. I dislike both the flag and the color pallet but ultimately I do not think now that a change is necessary; this was more just a concept. -Wonderweez (Talk · Contribs) 16:32, 7 May 2019 (UTC)

Duckish language[edit]

So I finished developing the Duckish language page in my userspace and if you like it, please respond to this and I'll move the page into continuity. It was a fun idea to work around with and it'd be great if you could make it recognized in your country, Duck Island, but if you don't want it to, then that's fine with me too. --Brant (Talk) (Contributions) 04:29, 8 May 2019 (UTC)

Character infobox[edit]

Hi. Your new infobox is redundant, so I would appreciate it if you could move it back to your userspace and remove it off of pages. If you need something deleted to make way for a move just ask and I'd be happy to help. The reason it's redundant is because its main difference is that colors for headers, background, border and text can be changed, but Template:IB-Char can do that as well, and is much more detailed. Thanks in advance. --CKAdmin 14:04, 14 May 2019 (UTC)

That's why we have a great selection of infoboxes for users, because you have a choice. But I'm quality control, and I don't want your infobox to "muddy the waters" of character infoboxes available and confuse users, because all of its "features" are already part of existing character infoboxes that would be better to use. The policy also says use common sense, which in this case would be: don't add redundant infoboxes to the wiki when there are already infoboxes that do the same things and more, there doesn't have to be a rule for that to make sense. --CKAdmin 14:18, 14 May 2019 (UTC)

Would you prefer it gets moved to userspace or deleted? If userspace, then where should it be moved? --CKAdmin 23:41, 14 May 2019 (UTC)

Hey Quacker,

Glad to see that Duck Island is back and able to be edited for you. I apologize for not being around to do so for you, as things have been both heating up and winding down as this semester closes. I wrote this article as close to my style and as close to your narrative as I could, though I know from looking at the current revision history that it's not necessarily good nor bad.
