History[edit]
The Yowien Mines were founded on December 10, 2000. The mines took a month to build after gold was found in Lane Mountain. King Alexander started to build a mine there. The mine was purposely for finding gold, but 2 months later rock salt was found at the bottom of the mine, then copper ore was found not 20ft from the mine's entrance.
The mine helped the Yow Kingdom's economy grow extremely by giving the kingdom two new main exports.
The mind expanded 5 miles longer in 4 months, finding more copper ore and rock salt. The first 100ft of the mine is now open for tourist to explore. In just one year the mine had discovered 2 tons of gold, 1,5000 pounds of rock salt, and 960 pounds of copper ore.
On the mine's 1st birthday something tragic happened. A pressurized magma chamber that had been disturbed by the mining burst, flooding the lower levels with molten rock and causing some tunnels to collapse. 10 miners were lost on that day.
The Yowiens named the new volcano Mount Meeps, after the youngest miner that died.

Miners[edit]
The Yowien Mines need a lot of miners to work. The total number of penguins working in the mines is 190. The penguins are paid three thousand Gold Coins a month.
- In order to be a miner penguins must meet these demands:
- Penguin must 18 years or older.
- Penguin must be able to lift two 20 pound weights.
- Penguin must not be scared of closed spaces.
- Penguin must must have a good memory to remember all the tunnels in case they loose the map.
Miners are given a single flashlight, mining helmet, mining vest, satchel, steel toe shoes, and 2 days worth of dried out food.
Famous Miners[edit]
The first miner to discover the Yowien Mines was Issac Little. He grew up as an orphan boy, and was adopted at age 9 by a miner family. His new father would go to the mine and work there 8 hours a day. The family was very rich, and Issac felt like he wanted to be a miner too. On his 20th birthday he moved to the Yow Kingdom. He hiked Lane Mountain and saw the whole island. As he climbed down the mountain something caught his eye. He looked closer and a saw gold flake! He picked it up and started to dig around the area for more. He found more gold there. He took the gold to the government and announced the discovery of gold on Lane Mountain. King Alexander set up a mining facility there to collect the gold.
