4th Note is the fourth studio album by Antarctican singer Cadence. It serves as Cadence's return to music after nearly 3 years, her last release being the critically-acclaimed Tempo (2012). Leaked news about the album surfaced the web in late December 2014 and was officially announced at the beginning of the new year. The album was set to be unveiled in the summer, released on June 9, 2015 by Club Penguin Music Records, Cadence's fourth release on the label. Cadence returned to a relatively pop sound with elements of numerous genres. DJ Crow returned to executive-produce for Cadence, previously serving on Cadence's debut, The Beginning (2009) and Tempo. The album is named 4th Note in reference to it being Cadence's fourth album.
In general the album was considered to be relatively weak for Cadence's standards, although it did receive credit for containing some of her catchiest material. Many felt that executive producer DJ Crow was losing his touch when producing this one. This was because the artists were taking a much more simplistic and mainstream approach to the record. Cadence promised for her next album to be much more polished.
Background[edit]
Cadence released her third album Tempo on October 28, 2012 to critical and commercial success, setting new landmarks for Cadence and her musical career. After her world tour concluded in summer 2013, Cadence headed back to the studio after a year break from creating music. Cadence had noted publicly that Tempo would be her last album for a few years as she focused on other aspects of her career. However she stated that she would continue to work in the studio.
