The Acadia Highway System (abbreviated AHS) is the highway system of Acadia. The first highway was built in 1970 during the colonial era, which was a north-south freeway that connected downtown Acadia to Shiverpool. The current highways were built by Greg Cleanington and Dominic Smith. The highways are one of the most advanced in Antarctica.

History[edit]

In 1970, Acadia's population was 750,000, and the city was getting advanced. By now, there were more traffic jams. To solve this, the then governor of Acadia, with funding from Puffle'and, built a highway that connected downtown Acadia to the Olde Antarctica border. By 1990, there was also an east-west highway. After Acadia achieved independence, Greg Cleanington, the first president, set to expanding the highway system. He built numerous freeways to solve congestion, and freeways to other places. His successor, Dominic Smith, finished his work, and the Acadia Highway System was finished, although there are plans to expand it more.

In 2015, the first highway outside of Acadia, the G1, in Gilneas was built, traveling from Greenfield to Cleanington. There are more plans to build another highway in Gilneas and a highway in Chinstrap.

Operation[edit]

Like Shops' highway system, Acadia's highways are meant to transport motor vehicles to places as fast as possible. Under the Department of Transportation's guidelines, all of Acadia's highways are divided highways, which allow for high speed transport safely. Because, they are well funded by the government, Acadian highways are well maintained and are very clean.

Acadian highways have similar speed limits as that of Shopper and Snowinian highways. Speed limits are between 110 km/h (70 mph) and 130 km/h (80 mph), with the minimum being 95 km/h (60 mph). As on Shopper highways, these are just "suggestions", as penguins are allowed to drive 5 mph over the speed limit.
