The Antarctic Song Contest is an upcoming song contest between the nations of Antarctica. It was created by Snowstormer for entertainment purposes. Each of the contestant countries select songs either through national competitions or by their selection to be performed on live television and radio The content has special guidelines on which songs can be submitted, and the ABU may disqualify a country if the song is invalid by the rules. After all songs have been performed, each country hosts a televote and a jury vote to give points to countries. After the votes are picked, they are casted by each countries representative, the points go from 1-7, and then 8, 10 and 12 are given to the best songs.

Participation

Basically, any country of Antarctica could enter the contest, but it depends whether the country has a member broadcaster in the ABU and on the country's preference. However, if a country wishes to participate, they have to pay a small participation fee for the ABU (and of course have a member broadcaster).

Hosting

Each year, the winner is given the right to host the next contest. As the contest was founded in Freezestonia, it is given the right to host it in Pallinn for the first time. If a country does not want to host the contest or has invalid funding to do so, they may decline hosting and the hosting will be given to the second place winner.

Voting

Countries select their votes by combining televotes with jury votes. The votes are then presented by a specially aligned presenter for the country, the first 7 points appear on the screen for a short while and are added to the receivers score, the presenter then reads out 8 points, then 10 and then 12. 12 points go to the countries favourite song.

Ties for first place

Sometimes it may happen that 2 or more countries get the same amount of points and tie for the first place. In that case it is looked at who got more 12 points, if both countries also got the same amount of 12 points, it is looked at who got more 10 points, and if still the countries had the same amount of 10 points, it is looked at who got more 8 points, 7 points etc... In the extremely unlikely case of all the first place countries getting the same amount of all points possible, it is looked at the running order, whichever of the countries was first in the order wins.

Rules

Live music

All vocals must be sang live, no vocals are allowed on the backing track.

Language

Even though the official language of the contest is English, countries are allowed to sing in whatever language their entrant sings in.

Trivia

• It is a parody of the Eurovision Song Contest.
• Countries can choose to sing in English or their native language. Most countries tend to pick English due to it's universality.
