Club Penguin Television is a private television broadcaster formed by The Club originally as the national television of Antarctica. It went private in 2002 and rivals Icey-ABC (who own ABC and the Icey channels), Wolf (who own the Wolf channels) and the Penguin TV Group. CPTV has a special digital/cable network box called CPTV CrossRoad which includes other subscription services such as Pengydeen Broadcasting. CPTV is famous for channels like CPTV 50 which is availible as part of subscription services on free-to-air digital transmitters.
Background[edit]
CPTV was found by The Club as the national television group of Antarctica when they discovered Club Penguin. They decided to built the ClubStudio, the HQ of the new company and where everything to start it up was to be done. It's first channel was CPTV 50, a subscription channel broadcasted across Antarctica (although it was free in Club Penguin). CPTV 50 was popular and the service expanded to other studios across the nation and new channels were added. During the War of 2002 the ownership changed hands; it became owned by itself as an independent company.
CPTV soon met a rival, Penguin TV, a television network which offered free TV no matter whether it was analogue, satellite, digital or cable TV. Penguin TV was popular, eventually leading to many programs who chose CPTV to go to Penguin TV. Although CPTV had more channels, Penguin TV had more viewer and more subscribers. CPTV has attempted to compete with them but it has so far failed.
