Dante Piu, Duke of Braga, teased by his critics as "Dumb" Dante Piu as a play on words to his formal title, Dom Dante Piu, is a famous penguin from Lisboagal who is most known for being the current pretender to the Lisboaguese throne, which was abolished in 1910. Piu is the head of the Lisboaguese Monarchist Party. He has three children, the eldest of which will become his successor in trying to attain the throne after he is too old to carry out the task. Piu is a great great nephew of the last King of Lisboagal and is a distant cousin of King Carlos Goberna, the current monarch of nearby Castilla.

Background[edit]

Dante Piu was born in 1945 in a small resort town in Osterreach to Francisca and Dante Nieto de Braganca, the nephew of the last king of Lisboagal. His parents had moved to a remote skiing village in Osterreach since the Lisboaguese government had ousted the whole royal family from the country in 1910, sending them into exile. Dante never learned how to speak German since his family only spoke Portuguese and some English. When he was five, the family then moved to the capital of Osterreach, Wien, to attend an international Lisboaguese School, where he stayed until 1950, when he went to visit Lisboagal for the first time in his life. The Lisboaguese Government, now lenient, allowed Dante Piu and his family to return to Lisboagal. He finished secondary school in Lisboagal and attended a local university in the capital city of Lisboa. He later served in the armed forces as a helicopter pilot. Later on, Piu went into politics and found himself a position as the Minister of Agriculture for the country after supporting a Lisboaguese president's campaign with a large sum of money. Dante has continued to maintain his position as the Minister of Agriculture to this day. In 1995 he married a penguin of nobility ancestry named Isabel and proceeded to have children in the following years after. Dante continues to avidly maintain the Monarchist party and occasionally hosts party rallies and television interviews to gain followers and catch the public eye. Dante has become a national icon and a figure of Lisboaguese pop culture who acts as foil to his brother, Joaquim.

Involvement[edit]

Dante Piu and his family has committed themselves to become civil servants of Lisboagal and often participate in community service activities. Piu tries his best to bolster his image as a man who cares about his citizens and would be charismatic to them if they were his subjects. Mr. Piu has occasionally traveled overseas to visit countries like Castilla and Dorkugal in order to establish good relations with other heads of state. King Carlos often invites him as a a friend and distant family member to visit his palace in order to have company.

Trivia[edit]

  • Despite trying to be a serious politician in hoping to become a King, few penguins except the monarchists take him seriously. He has become the butt of many jokes in Lisboagal, much to his annoyance.
    • Dante Piu is most famous for his large mustache. Lisboaguese locals like to jest that he hides snacks in it.
    • His distant cousin, King Carlos Goberna of Castilla, is a friend of his, though they hardly meet. Carlos does not think his cousin should regain the throne of Lisboagal and occasionally teases him for his futile attempts to win the locals' support for his ascension to the throne.
    • Some penguins who hate him call him the "Feey of Lisboagal", though most scoff at the absurd comparison.
  • Dante, considered a silly old man by some, is often overshadowed by his more popular brother, Joaquim Barros, Lisboagal's most famous singer.
  • Dante once visited F Island when Feey1 was ruler of the Yow Kingdom. Instead of hanging out with Feey, Dante conversed with his Hockjock slaves because he found them interesting and pitied them for their poor treatment. Ever since, Dante never visited Feey again, and he later avidly supported the The Great Yowien War and Hockjock abolition. After the war, Piu donated money to help Hockjocks develop their own infrastructure in Puffish Yow.
  • Dante was born rich due to his ancestors' royal riches and continues to be rich due to his tenured job as the nation's Minister of Agriculture.
