Destiny De'Flay, or just Destiny , is a mischievous penguin sighted around Antarctica, causing madness and nightmares in otherwise calm and serene locations, preferring scenarios of almost guaranteed death as her preferred way of getting what she desires-- madness, as well as the suffering of others. Little else is known about her regarding her past or present affairs, and she just magically appeared from no particular area.

Theme Song[edit]

This song has been known to play when she's around, or is causing madness.

History and Background[edit]

Little is known geographically and historically about where, and who, she is and what she is exactly. Some people suggest she is a poltergeist, taking on the spirit of a high penguin, or is a high penguin that simply got corrupted with a mutation a long time ago. Either way, they have worked out little factoids based on clues about her past.

Birth and Containment[edit]

Destiny was supposedly born about 750 years ago in a place unknown, but is speculated to be somewhere in the Darktonian Realm, before being taken over by Darktan. Her parents were presumably very wealthy, as she inherited a manor somewhere within the present-day realm under the name "Dorothy D. De'Flay I." Historical records show that her birth was a weird one, with her hatching in such a way that would be physically impossible for a penguin to do. Notably as well, she had stubs on her back with a colored gem protruding out of it. Her eyes were a deep crimson red and she loved a certain dress knitted by her Aunt, Maria De'Flay.

By the age of three, Destiny has grown another pair of crystals on her back, which she used to show off to her family friends, calling them "my pretty gems of life." The hue, the original one being blue, was now a deep aqua-marine. Everyone was in awe of the gems, until suddenly they all came down ill with something no doctor in the land could have explained. In their eyes, they've been dyed a blue or aqua-marine color, with burn marks as well inside them. The pain, not noticeable until near death, finally got the best of them, and eventually caused them to perish in their sleep, unbeknownst to them. People looked far and wide for a cause of this mysterious ailment, and finally found their culprit.

Except, she found them.

One by one, Destiny blasted multicolored lasers from her crystals, blinding them and eventually making them retreat, all the while laughing and giggling at their screams of agony. Inside, the wind was whipping, making the lasers bounce around, creating a light show that dazzled Destiny. Seeing their chance, Destiny father, Johnathan P. De'Flay, snatched her up from the ground and tranquilized her, causing her to pass out. The wind whipped down, and so did the lasers and it's burn marks. They finally caught the thing.

The town's leading scientist, Jeremiah T. Thingamajigger-Experimentor, suggested that he build a lava, light, and seemingly indestructible containment unit that would make her be in a stasis like state, supplied only by the cold to be preserved until she is ready to grow properly. He estimated this may take only 2 years, and thus, built it to be opened within 2 years by a lever pushed by the future ruler, if so the mayor of the land is to die. Placing their daughter in the capsule, the parents kissed her on the head and wished her a fare maturing.

Mid-Containment Madness[edit]

Tragedy struck, however, as neighboring kingdoms invaded and ransacked the town she was terrorizing, leaving a majority of the victims, including her parents, under prisoner to the tyrant. The lever was forgotten, and even though the tyrant has been fought back, the instructions for Destiny has been long but forgotten. Some people suggest that if she was to have been released, she would not have been as mischievous as she is today, and may have perhaps been of use to some of the inhabitants of present day Antarctica. However, that was sorrowfully not the case.

For 500 years after the ransacking, in 1814, she was still left in stasis, unable to comprehend the world around her as time itself spun in a wheel of perpetual motion. Countless wars, separations, inventions, tyrants, and alliances came and went while the capsule did nothing but contained an ancient threat in a not so ancient world. Around 100 years afterwards, in 1914, the last of her relatives died during a civil uprising within the High Penguin Confederacy. This was cataloged in the joint efforts of the USA and Freezeland when they found old records of such.

During such time, the mountain formed into a volcano, and while the capsule was designed to resist the lava, it eventually preludes to her release from the prison thanks in part to the creation of the Darktonian Realm.

Awakening[edit]

In 2009, the dark corruption seeping from Darktan and his army nudged it's way to the resting place of Destiny, eventually seeping through the cracks of the rock and into the capsule chamber. The energy, unable to be drawn away from the capsule, placed her out of stasis, where she emerged a different being from before. The smoke pouring out of the interior, as well as ancient hymns and glyphs of blessing to further secure her reawakening.

But, unfortunately, the corruption doesn't need to further it's influence to her.

As she stepped out of the capsule, looking ageless, her gems expanded to include the full color spectrum, from red to purple. Her eyes were crimson and they had an ever burning hatred inside of them, seething their way out of the rock and emerging from the now hollow volcanic chamber. Her hair, once a dirty blonde, was cleaned and bleached to a perfect yellow blonde. Her new found powers, now growing in strength, only gained more evil in her time. Yet, she longed only for something that anyone her age would want.

Fun.

Knowing that her parents would be around, supposedly, she tried to escape, but couldn't, since her wings of gems couldn't make her fly. Muttering to herself a poetry rhyme called Bats of the New Land, she expected to take flight.

"Chaos is no longer at hand,
Hark brings the Bats of the New Land!
Bring on pain, agony, writhe into plains,
And their suffering, forever adding to my gains!"

Once the poem was finished, she turned into a bat, as expected, and began to fly in search of her parents. Her will, while strong, was something she was not familiar with.

Discovering the Truth[edit]

Upon departing from the volcano, she began surveying the surrounding land. Several differences were noted by her, seeing as Darktan spread his darkness within the square. Most of the land she knew had now been corrupted. Using similarities in her memory, she was able to find an approximate location of her old manor and decided to investigate it. She knew that whatever was within the vicinity of the manor, would either be her parents or someone that knew them.

What she found shocked her.

Inside was nothing but dust and broken glass. The wallpaper that once stood bold was now nothing but a browned and soiled piece of dust on the floor. Bookshelves were full with cobwebs and dust bunnies rather than books. What was odd, however, was that it was recently visited by an unknown being. She began to take mental pictures to discern fact from fiction as she frantically searched for a chest that had answers she needed, and a weapon she desired.

"You there! Who are you, state your business!"

A resounding voice beamed from behind her. She froze in her tracks as her eyes began to glow. The voice was none other than Darktan II.

"Answer me, you wretched mortal! I beseech your response."

She knew she had no other choice but to reply. In a loud, emotionless tone, she resounded back, filling the room with her voice.

"I am Destiny De'Flay I, the Monarch of Madness. Who might you be?"

"I am Darktan the Second, ruler of this land. You come to my sanctum, yet bear no allegiance to anyone but yourself. You have ten seconds to leave."

Her heart stopped in her tracks. Knowing she had no more time, she slowly turned around and began to giggle. Her maniacal laughter filled the entire ruins with an eerie feeling. Reality began to collapse around like liquid as the world spun around Darktan. Lights filled the room as the darkness began to flood the surrounding area. In the center of his field of vision, there were menacing, hate filled crimson eyes.

"Enough! You have won this round, little girl. But be warned! You and everyone here will perish under my army. Long live Darktan!"

With that, he flew off to escape the illusion. He appeared shaken, yet tried to forget it. This gave Destiny enough time to finally find what she was looking for.

Her bright orange feather sword.

Reign of Chaos[edit]

After obtaining her weapon, she then decided to head off to find any trace of her parents. Using the alias of "Cardinal Illustri," she traveled to many libraries, her wings concealed under a trench coat. There, she began to research the events that happened following her sealing, which she learned was 750 years ago or so. After finding out the names of the countries currently in power, she began to look at the past of them, often times spending hours in libraries, carefully analyzing books.

She researched, until she found the answer at last.

There, right in the middle of the page, is an oil painting of what appeared to be her parents. They looked tired, skinny, and almost limping. They could beg for mercy, they could plea.

But then came the "What happened if they begged" portion.

She quickly walked away from the book, disturbed by what she saw. She then found an old book on Porcyal and it's properties. As she opened it, she came across the "Energy Manipulation" page, and noticed the ability to channel it in a single area with unknown effects. This, however, would require a massive amount of energy to channel it successfully without much of a problem. A light bulb came on in her head.

What if she could terrorize her victims, harness their fear, and use it to channel a purely fear powered ray to examine the effects, possibly opening a portal in the process?

She sprang from the chair, immediately leaving the building and transforming into a bat, flying off to the old manor of her's to further prepare to gather energy.

Present Day[edit]

Knowing she had the ability to make a world where her victims are trapped in until they escape-- or perish, Destiny made a simple world based around her abilities to hallucinate and destroy the mind from within, essentially causing insanity. She then had the daunting task to collect the right amount of Porcyal required to make the portal operable, then the power source that would be enough to successfully power such device.

She realized that she could simply refurbish their anguished cries of despondent into her own energy, and blast it when she reaches the proper amount to maintain the portal.

Reported Sightings[edit]

  • Various places in Darktan's Realm
  • Around X-Virus outbreak locations to further instill fear.
  • Post-war camps, trying to induce a sort of Post-traumatic stress disorder.

Powers[edit]

Destiny, having grown mysterious crystal wings, has the power to create lasers from them and blind the target. Using them, she can create as well an optical illusion in which she becomes an omnipotent being of supreme power, often inescapable aside from pure willpower or voluntarily giving in to her deranged wants and desires. She can project her inner mind as well to create a "world" of a nightmare.

She is a rational thinker and very rarely suggests something outlandish that she cannot do without a complete plan.

Quotes[edit]

  • "Try not the temper of the Monarch, impudent mortal."
  • -after being asked for mercy- "Do storms pity the drowned?"
  • "See life in MY eyes."

Appearance[edit]

Destiny is but a chick, having, however, grown many of the senses an adult penguin has, while still retaining their chick body. She's a peach-colored penguin with bright blonde hair flowing down the top of her head to the top of her shoulders. Rather than having black eyes, she has a pair of very red, deep crimson eyes that can peer into the very soul of a victim.

She often wears a red and white dress with ruffles around the leg line and the sleeve line. It has some pockets on the front, like overalls. On her back, two black stemmed wings pop out with gemstones of the color spectrum on there.

Trivia[edit]

  • She had a sister named Diana De'Flay, whom was an expert with knives.
