Fort Polaris Air Force Base is a major air force base located on the Polaris Bay Barrier Islands, that traverse the bay. The Air Force Base is located on the 17 sq. kilometer Wallis Island, which houses Military barracks and hangars. Fort Polaris is noted as a strategic location, and has two runways. The island is the furtherest out to sea out of the almost 156 islands. There are at least 56 aircraft based here.Fort Polaris is connected to the mainland via a hidden tunnel, which is only accessible by military vehicles.

History[edit]
Until 1985, all defense for the city of Polaris was provided by Abbleton Air Force Base in central Eastsheild, 210 miles southeast of the city of Polaris. In 1985, the Polaris National Airbase was constructed by the Polarian government in surburban Polaris. The former air force base had one runway and a 7 aircraft ramp. As the city began to grow, it's vulnerability to attack from invading forces increased dramatically. The Polaris City Council voted 61-3 to build a new air force base on Rifle Island in Polaris Barrier Islands. The total construction costs for the new airport were 1567 million Fish. Ground broke on the new site on January 17, 1991. The new airbase was filled with mainly concrete fillings for the runways and the airport's hangar. Construction completed on June 6, 1996. Military operations at the airbase began almost immdediately, with 25 aircraft being moved to the base on the third day after construction.
