Help talk:Congress/Requests for Adminship

This bill, Requests for Adminship, has passed the Wiki's Congress Committee and will be laid down as a law! |
Triskelle3's View[edit]
I think the RfA (Frequests for Adminship) should be closed. There are plenty of admins and b-cats, and loads have edited in the past month. Flooding the wiki with admins is equivalent to giving guns to anyone who wants them - a recipe for disaster. A general common sense rule is that there should not be more than five or six admins at once while current traffic levels are sustained. RfA should be opened under two circumstances: a few admins become inactive, or traffic levels increase highlyy. Anyway, admins aren't that important; the main function of admins is to clean up when the wiki needs it, and provide guidance to any user who needs it. Besides, it must feel better to be the good user and be respected and rarely stung, rather than the admin who will get vandalised and attacked because they must block users.

The last thing this site needs is more admins. A few of them are already doing there job properly. What it needs is for the rest to get off their high horses and stop thinking themselves above the regular users. If the regular users are good enough to expand the site with content, then it should very well be involved in its management. This hierarchy is ridiculous at best and disrespectful at worst.

Perhaps it would be best to mention the community appeal of some admin's behavior to them. Considering all we are doing here is saying that we have problems, and that we need to fix these problems, I'm sure the majority of the wiki doesn't even know of what goes on.

Proposal[edit]
We close the bureaucrat and sysop requests, but don't close the rollbacks.

Bugzy's View[edit]
I've had heaps of people telling me to go for sysop or bureaucrat, but Triskelle has pretty much nailed the reason why I've shunned all of those requests. Sysop's and Bureau's get a hard time from people they block and people who happened to be friends with them, not to mention the tough decision making and constant pressure they're under. That's why I went for good ol' rollback. Cool title, good for the lazy people (i.e. me), absolutely useless, and still considered a staff rank. I think the sysop and bureau apps should be closed until the site gets more traffic. Let the remaining apps finish then close the sysop/bureau apps. Bugzy 00:37, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Sheepman's view[edit]
The CPW pretty much collapsed due to overloads of admins. This sounds good. -- Sheepman!Wheeeeeee! 07:17, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
