The history of Club Penguin from 2012 to the present covers Club Penguin's current "phase", from the second CPIP, to the discovery of innumerable new puffle species, and amazing new adventures!

2012 brought the first chance for penguins to sail on the Migrator with Captain Rockhopper, The first ever island "Takeovers", along with many other party changes such as the last April Fools Party. Over the year, many rooms in Club Penguin were "modernized" as part of the second CPIP, including the opening of a Club Penguin Times office in the Book Room. After the 2012 presidential elections in the USA, Polo Field became the new Mayor of Club Penguin. When November came, Herbert defeated the EPF in Operation: Blackout and created Club Herbert, before all of the Club Penguinites banned together to defeat the threat and save the island. This revealed Herbert to the world, and everyone on the island became painfully aware of his presence.

2013 saw the invention of the Time Trekker 3000, the discovery of the amazing Rainbow and Gold puffle species, and the opening of the Puffle Hotel, along with the public release of Card-Jitsu Snow. In April 2013, the Party Development Center, the team that handles events on the islands, got a new leader, currently literally named "New Leader", causing a lot of controversy with his "ideas". Beacon University also burned down, causing the replacement of the RDA Recycling Center with a new school, Club Penguin University.

In 2014, Club Penguinites went back in time to save the Dino Puffle from total extinction, traveled 2000 years in the future to stop Protobot from destroying the island, new Ruscan-speaking servers were opened, and Merry Walrus "traditions" were celebrated for the first time, along with a collection of newly discovered "Puffle Creatures", and the passing of the Club Penguin Puffle Backyard Bill by the Igloo owners association. The first ever Penguin Cup was also held here between CP's four sports teams.

So far, 2015 has seen the discovery of a strange Sasquatch creature in the wilderness, a music party hosted by Cadence, the island's first Pi Day festivities, the declassification and return of the PSA's simulated missions, the second Festival of Snow, and Club Penguin's 10th Anniversary Party.

Despite all this never-before-seen technological and cultural progress, this era of Club Penguin history was very strongly criticized by many penguins across the island and the continent. Many penguins, in fact, declared this era the beginning of the fall of Club Penguin. This was obviously due to the PDC's New Leader and the decline of the group's member count,resulting in many penguins complaining that the parties were not good enough and that they were too long and boring, and many secrets hidden around the island have been revealed to all penguins. Another controversial event was when Club Penguin had a major purge in its government in summer 2015. What was even more controversial was when in September 2015 it was announced the 10th Anniversary Party would not even be on October 24th, but rather days before it.

2012

Tipping the Iceberg Island & Changed parties

Starting off the year of 2012, Rookie was approved to plan January's party, an "expedition", to follow up the awesome expeditions of yesteryears. Rookie came up with the Underwater Expedition, with a plan to order anvils and put the Beach underwater. On January 26, the last order of anvils arrived, which tipped the entire island, leaving the East side completely out of the water while almost flooding the entire West side from the Beach to the mountain range. Special domes were placed over the Ski Lodge and the Everyday Phoning Facility to keep water out of the facilities. The benefit to the island being tipped was the revealing of an abandoned ancient underwater civilization. Behind the scenes, it turns out that Herbert escaped from his hibernation during the party, and it was discovered that someone had tripled Rookie's order of anvils, making the EPF think that Klutzy might have bee behind it. Everyone took an anvil as a hat (which, looking back, seems very impractical), and by February 1st the island was no longer tipping.

The first half of February was host to a Fashion Show held at the Gift Shop, and hosted by famous DJ and clothes-maker Cadence. Though it was a small event, it attracted huge audiences trying to show off their style, and is considered the best Fashion-related event that CP's ever had (especially by Fashists). However, the Fashion Show was largely overshadowed by Rockhopper's Quest, which took place later in the month. He asked fellow penguins to go on a dangerous quest with him, to set up a beacon on Shipwreck Island. The Migrator set sail on February 24, and landed on Swashbuckler Trading Post and the amazing Dinosaur Island before reaching the final destination and setting up a gem beacon on Shipwreck Island, which was also home to a Hall of Viking Lords.

March held the island's fourth annual Puffle Party, except this year PH helped to plan it. Like past years, each Puffle color had it's own decorated room on the island. But, unlike past years, due to new "transformation" technology, penguins could be transformed into a puffle! It is unknown if scientists actually came up with this technology, or if EBUL and the PDC bought a little bit of help from friends in high places. Also, this party made PH into an official celebrity on the island.

During the Puffle Party, Rookie pondered the question: Where do Orange Puffles come from? So, he decided to go back into the Box Dimension for CP's seventh annual April Fool's DayParty. Apparently, there's an entire Orange Puffle Dimension! Unfortunately, due to almost none of the island being decorated, the party was rated the worst April Fool's Party yet, which caused the annual tradition to be scrapped the next year (making a lot of penguins angry at the PDC, but they still haven't brought it back). From April 4-11, the island's last Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt took place, rewarding scavengers with a pair of Yellow Bunny Ears. The Earth Day Party later celebrated numerous species of animals from around Antarctica and elsewhere.

Takeovers

In June 2012, the PDC, aided by a huge pay boost, created the very first "takeover". Parodying the Defenders, they called it the "Marvel Super Hero Takeover", and it was a moderate success. The Music Jam was "upgraded" to the Ultimate Jam, bringing in a pair of Icey XD actors.

2014

Merry Walrus

By this point, the PDC's New Leader was shoving his "bright ideas" into everything, using his walrus character as a "long-forgotten tradition" to deliver presents. The only good that came out of it was that this "Merry Walrus" managed to temporarily apprehend Herbert.
