The Hochstadt Sanctuary is a stone room dedicated to all of the past Hochstadt Senseis (discluding The Three Masters) that have reigned since Card-Jitsu was created. It is located below the Dojo, right next to the former Elite Puffle Training Room.
History[edit]
The Sanctuary was built in 1080 AD, as a small mausoleum for Sensei Gung Hao's body, whose coffin was buried under the floor in honor of him. As an addition, they placed a life sized statue of him above his grave. Eventually, his son, Jacques Hochstadt, who was also a Sensei, was buried there too and had a statue carved for himself. The mausoleum was long forgotten, until another Hochstadt, Chin Yang, became a Sensei. After Chin Yang passed away, the sanctuary was expanded upon, until it was large enough to hold fifteen coffins, and Chin Yang was buried next to his ancestors. As The Five Senseis reigned, and eventually passed away, each of them was buried in the Hochstadt Sanctuary. Shortly after the last of the five Senseis died, a horrible snowstorm covered the mausoleum and destroyed the Dojo. Pen Chi built a new Dojo over the flat structures of the Sanctuary's Roof, forming the foundation for the dojo. Sadly, the sanctuary was forgotten once again by most ninjas after Pen Chi's yellow snow scandal. Sensei, True Sensei, Fire Sensei, Water Sensei and Snow Sensei knew of the sanctuary, however they thought it was destroyed by the snowstorm. It wasn't discovered again until one day in 2009, when an elite puffle crashed into the wall of the EPF Puffle Training Room. The puffle was wearing a helmet, so he wasn't hurt, but the wall he had hit crumbled from the blow. After the portion of wall fell down, a strange door was revealed, with an inscription that read:
"Hier liegt der Eingang zum Heiligtum Hochstadt"
Which Translates to.......
"Here lies the Entrance to the Hochstadt Sanctuary"
Since this discovery was found in a very secret room, the Sanctuary was kept a secret by the Elite Penguin Force and Sensei for years. However, during the Great Snowzerland War II, members of the Hochstadt Gang found the Sanctuary, being the only other creatures to do so.
After the Dojo was renovated in 2013 and the Puffle Training Room was closed, a staircase was built behind the Dojo leading to the Sanctuary, and it was revealed to the public. Even though it was announced to the public, no one is allowed inside except for the current Senseis, members of the Hochstadt Family, and anyone else given permission by them. There are also four ninjas standing guard outside of the Sanctuary at all times- one of each element, and a normal ninja.
Description[edit]
The Sanctuary is room completely made of stone, with numerous statues on pedestals, one for every Hochstadt Sensei that was buried here. Below these statues are the graves of the Senseis. The stone walls have intricate carvings of Puffles, Ninjas, and Dragons. Some carvings also show scenes of a Sensei's life. In front of each statue's feet are candles that have burned since they were lit during the funeral. The ceiling also has a grand mural of a strange unknown creature that is wearing an elaborate red robe.
