The Seal Islands is a federal republic consisting of 8 states and 9 colonies. Each state has its own government, which can make its own decisions under the constitution, however the federal government of the republic has a right to override any decisions not supported.
In addition to the 8 states, the Seal Islands also possesses 9 colonies, commonly known as the Free Colonies of the Seal Islands. These are divided into incorporated colonies, which are like states in general, except have more freedom, and unincorporated colonies, which act like countries in almost every matter, this includes a separate parliament and laws that differ from the main country's, yet the federal government still has the right to override their decisions. Incorporated colonies include Seal Island, Doughnut Island,Klondike Island and the Sealien Extraterrestrial Colonies, unincorporated colonies are Pengvia, Frosthuania, Suome, Pengmark and Ðo'rland.
