'New Westshield is a Polarian state located in the central region of the Federal Republic of Polaris, and is the most populous and largest in area of the ten states of the Federal Republic of Polaris, and is home to the nation's largest city and capital, Polaris City. New Westshield is bordered by the states of Hampton and Enderby to the west, the state of Penguville State to the east, and the United States of Antarctica to the south.

The state's geography is generally flat, with the exception of the Eastern Shield Mountains, which are located directly on the Eastshield border. The southern region of the state is known as the Rico Valley, which is the state's agricultural center, producing approximately $2.25 billion worth of food. The central region of the state is noted for it's rolling hills, in which copper, iron ore and other metals are mined, comprising of 40% of the region's economy, along with manufacturing. The northern region is generally flat, but does feature several hills and escarpments. The northern region is generally dependent on the finance, transport, manufacturing and electronics sector, due to the the dominance of Polaris City within that region.

Government and politics

The state of New Westshield is governed in a similar form of governance system, albeit the state has only one head of state as opposed to the federal directorial presidential system. The legislature of New Westshield, like other states, is comprised of the State Senate and the State Assembly. Compared to other federated nations, states have significantly less power in decision-making, since the government is more centralized. The government comprises of a 25 seat Senate, elected directly every four years, and a 57 seat Assembly, elected every 3 years, the State Supreme Court, whose justices and Chief Justice are appointed by the State Senate, and the executive branch, complied of a Governor who is elected every four years, and a Lieutenant Governor, who stands as a representative to the federal government, but is elected separately from the Governor every four years. The Governor also possesses a ten-member cabinet, each of which heads a sub-department of its federal equivalent, operated at the state level.

Currently, the state is a stronghold for the dominant Polaris Democratic Party, having all but 3 of its 133 representatives in the Assembly of Representatives, caucusing with the Polaris Democratic Party, as well as its 43 Senators, which are all PDP members as well. In the 2011 Polarian presidential election, the state elected Polaris Democratic Party candidate Nathaniel B. Kratz with 93.7% of the vote. On the state level, both the Governor and Lieutenant Governor are PDP-afflicted, in addition to heavy party representation in the Senate, of which they comprise of 20 of the 25 seats, the others being held by the Continental Union Party (3) and the Conservative Action Party (1), as well as an independent. In the Assembly, the PDP holds 86% of the seats (49/57), and the rest are held by the CUP (6) and the CAP (2)

Economy

The economy of New Westshield is dependent on the services and manufacturing sectors, comprising of the financial and banking industry (36.47%) transportation (11.63%) pharmaceuticals, (8.37%)as well as manufacturing (21.43%) of steel,transport vehicles, electronics, and plastics ( To a lesser extent, oil is a minor revenue for the state, (3.65% of state GDP) since minor oil fields are being utilized in the central region of the state. The mining sector comprises 7.54% of the GDP. Agriculture and foodstuffs further comprise of approximately 5.70% of the GDP. The GDP per capita is presently $112,560, making it the highest within the Federal Republic of Polaris, let alone the continent, while the GDP is $2,085,257,839,360, or approximately $2.085 trillion.

Administrative divisions

Under the Chartered Municipalities Act of 2004, all Polarian states are divided into counties. The partition of New Westshield into counties was done through the Municipal Relations Committee of the then newly-elected Legislature of New Westshield, which, based upon population numbers, had separated the state into 19 different entities.
