The 2014/15 Penland Insurgency is a currently ongoing unrest / conflict in Penland. Caused by the dissolution of the NNM and Penlandian desire for independence, it is a major conflict and caused lots of damage to Penland. Behind just the war in Penland, several terrorist attacks have been carried out on the capital of Snowiny, Winsburg, and it's largest city, Greenfield. The war has 4 phases, of which the fourth phase is still ongoing and began 22 November, 2014, being the longest phase of the conflict.

Background[edit]
Penland was always since 2001 the high source of instability in Snowiny. It had several wars in which they attempted to secede and also has the current number one threat to Snowiny, the seperatist movement Little Penland. Instability in Penland and Snowiny itself has reached it's boiling points during the Puffalian-Western War, but even more after the Newdeal Civil War, which resulted in several terrorist attacks carried out on Snowiny not only by Little Penland, but by the Nexonan Nationalist Movement too. After the NNM was dissolved in the Short War, many of it's members flew to Penland to team up with the Penlandians and fight Snowiny. Many other rebel factions in Snowinian territories joined them too, including the Stoles and Puffepelagans. The conflict grew to be one of the most deadly conflicts in Snowinian history.
Snowiny, after their first terrorist attack that marked the beginning of war, stated they will not tolerate this attack and let it slide, and let the rebels win, but that they will fight for their country and stand patriotically. Robert Smith ordered the mobilization of the military and a large scale insurgency occurred in Penland.
After a series of fights, Snowiny deployed more than half of it's military into Penland and also deployed SWAT squads and their secret agencies and secret services around the island. Snowiny managed to counter the terrorists after a few weeks, but as the Fourth Phase of the war started progressing, the terrorists seemed unstoppable. However, the number of terrorist attacks on the cities outside Penland has lowered and barely any attack occured in 2015. However, insurgency continues in Penland.
