Scientist Squid (real name, Octopus 1, given by the CJ census) is an immigrant from the far northern tropics, who originally helped develop technology for the Jellyfish in Club Jellyfish.

Background[edit]
Scientist Squid hails from the far northern tropics, though he refuses to disclose where. For unknown reasons, he immigrated to the chilly waters of Club Jellyfish, choosing a sizable cave high in CJ's Sunlit Zone. He was assigned the name Octopus 1 by the CJ census, since he lacked a name prior to his immigration.
He quickly adapted to life in the freezing depths of his new home. Being an octopus, and because he had a brain, he was far more intelligent than the Jellyfish who lived in CJ. He felt inclined to help the lesser species, quickly inventing dozens of technology advances such as underwater video consoles and a machine that would allow a jellyfish to communicate with surface dwellers without the need of a translator.
He was disappointed at the extreme overfishing of penguins and the occasional floating shoe or barrel, but felt he had no need to meedle with the surface dwellers. Octopi can only live so many years, and their lifespans were short. Scientist Squid, knowing this, became as productive as possible. He was always doing something to help his people.
Unfortunately, Octopus 1's cave and laboratory were wrecked by a Hydro Hopper boat driven by Rookie of the PSA.
Octopus 1 was ENRAGED at the foolish Surface Dweller who destroyed his home AND his lab. Instead of blaming the vilage idiot (Rookie) for the accident, he felt the entire PSA needed to suffer his cephalopod wrath.
He came to the CJ council and requested them to let him go forth and get revenge the Surface Dwellers for all they have done to him, in addition to avenging for the overfishing of CJ's waters. The council agreed for him to seek his wishes, particularly because he would also be fighting for Club Jellyfish.
He swore to destroy the PSA for destruction of his home, and to also get CJ the respect it deserves.
He rented another cave and quickly built a tank (see the [[Scientist_Squid#Technology| section) to allow him to surface onto land without dying. Since he and his tentacles would be confined to the tank to drive it, he outfitted the tank with six metallic arms he could control form the dashboard of his tank. These arms were stronger than his own tentacles, and were extremely difficult to break.
With his system built and his safety on land assured, he rose from the depths and onto the shores of Antarctica. His first target was CP and the PSA.
Involvement[edit]
Scientist Squid's ultimate goal is to destroy the PSA and give CJ the respect they so deserve. He feels he and his friends are oppressed by the surface dwellers and deserve equal treatment. This has led to controversy, as some feel SS is merely protesting the oppression of Club Jellyfish, because the surface dwellers had wrecked his home and starved his people.
They wonder if he is really as bad as penguins want to think he is.
His primary targets are the igloos and buildings of the PSA and their agents. He almost always attacks Club Penguin, still trying to find the PSA HQ.
Technology[edit]
Since Scientist Squid's crusade takes place on land, he needed some equipment to survive, as well as equyipment strong enough to not be broken. After all, even the greatest scientist of Club Jellyfish is still a water creature. If one was to break SS' glass, he would spill out and be easily stopped.
"Glass" for the aquarium[edit]
It is for this reason that he uses thick slabs of acrylic instead of glass for his tank. The top of the mobile aquarium is sealed with steel and plexiglass, openable only from the inside.
The acrylic is six inches thick, far more than is needed to hold the saltwater inside the tank. No matter how hard it is hit, or even shot, it can't be penetrated. The PSA theorizes a cannon or a HUGE laser would be needed to break that glass. To further protect the tank, a one inch thick layer of plexiglass is applied on the farthest outside and closest inside. The acrylic is sandwiched in between.
Engine[edit]
The tank is outfitted with a diesel engine underneath it and a compartment for storing more diesel when. Scientist Squid always steals diesel first before doing anything else on land.
Four wheels are on the four corners of the "table" that the tank is fastened onto.
The engine and its four wheels run about 1500 horsepower and the desk/tank can go at one hundred ten miles per hour, maximum. The tank has terrible turning, though, because if SS was to turn on a time, the whole tank and desk would tip over, causing him to spill out. Due to this, SS has to make wide and long turns, making it very risky to travel at high speeds. At low speeds he can turn sharply like any vehicle.
If SS' tank is not moving, he can turn three hundred sixty degrees within seconds. Sometimes, stopping to fight is very beneficial.
Desk[edit]
The tank holding SS sits on top of what looks like a wooden desk or traditional wooden table, one that would hold a domestic aquarium. It even has cabinet doors!
However, it is not an ordinary table. The wood is very thin and purely decorative. Underneath the wood is solid steel with plexiglass, making it rather impenetrable. The cabinet doors are wooden on the outside, but are sealed shut on the inside. They can only be opened via controls from inside the tank. Inside the desk thing is the diesel engine, the storage, and the filter.
Filter[edit]
To prevent carbon dioxide from building up due to SS breathing, the filter also circulates oxygen back into the water, recycling it again and again so that SS never has to open the tank and change his water, allowing for security and ease when times get tough for him, namely when a "hero" is after him.
Controls[edit]
Inside the tank sits Scientist Squid. All eight of his tentacles are always at work independently of one another, manning the controls.
Everything needed to operate the tank and sustain SS are installed. A food ration is provided inside, as are controls for acceleration, breaks, steering, and control of the mechanical arms. Monitoring equipment informs SS of his filter status, CO2 amounts, fuel supply, fuel gauge, speed, etc.
Switches in the tank control the opening of any compartments. For example, of SS wanted to open one of the cabinet doors in his desk, he would flip a switch and it would open. He would flip it back to close it. The cabinet doors can open and close in about five seconds, and slightly slower while in motion.
To allow for a 360 view around him, SS can consult several of his cameras, providing him with rear and side (octopi lack peripheral vision) views, greatly helping him so he won't have to leave the controls.
Arms[edit]
However, and by far, the most important mechanism in Scientist Squid's arsenal is the six mechanical arms extending out of the wooden desk. SS is confined to a tank and needs these to interact and interfere with everything outside of the tank.
These arms are made of advanced alloys, making it extremely hard to sever them off of the contraption. At the end are claws, allowing for grabbing and maneuvering of items. The arms are extremely movable and very high-tech. They can do almost anything a penguin's flipper can do, AND MORE. Unlike a penguin, the tentacles can also serve much like opposable thumbs, allowing him to have a firmer grip and faster typing and such, things that humans take for granted.
Four of the six arms are independent of the one another. SS operates them with four of his eight tentacles at any given time. The two dependent arms are automatic. He can input commands for them to grab the diesel and refuel the engine. They serve maintenence purposes. However, the four SS drives can be used for anything he desires, such as stealing diesel fuel for his engine.
Trivia[edit]
- SS is extremely annoyed when creatures call him a squid. He asserts that he is an octopus, but chose the name because "penguins, with their baseball sized brains, can remember it better".
- The citizens of Club Jellyfish hail him as a hero.
- SS hates Rookie more than any other creature in the universe. Rookie is his arch-nemesis.
