Superstar is the first successful album by South Pole City born Angie Hills. The album was released on November 10, 2013 in South Pole City and November 20 2013 worldwide. The recording took place in 2012 after Angie received the grand finals award in the CP factor to pursue a new, fresh career and 2013 to sample more modern sounds in her other songs. Angie was invited to the Night Club by Meaghan to sign a record deal with DJ Crow and Cadence. In an interview with Aunt Arctic, she said that most of her songs about how everyone can be a superstar in many unique ways and to never give up on your dreams.

Background[edit]

The album was originally going to be released in early November but it was finished in November 9, the day before she released it in South Pole City. It was available to download on Icetunes on November 21, the day after Angie released the album worldwide. It was rumored that there is going to be a deluxe edition of Superstar but Angie stated in an Icetunes interview that she uses two different artwork for the cover, one original and one deluxe edition. No bonus songs have been released yet but Angie confirmed that she'll released bonus songs on her next studio album Angie.

Her family is very proud on her that she worked really hard and that Angie started a new clean career. At the grammy awards 2014, she earned 3 Grammys: The first one for best album of the year, the second one was most iconic fashion icon in Club Penguin Island and the last one was for best song of the year. She performed three of her songs from her album like Feline, Superstar and Need U back.

Recording[edit]

After the final awards at the CP Factor, Angie secretly recorded her songs in her new studio in 2012. She started recording more songs in 2013 to create more modern sounds In August 2013, she was invited to the secret studio in the Night Club. She recorded her first professional demo and brings in her songs for DJ Crow to edit. She invites two of her old best friends to watch her record her songs.

Reception[edit]

The album peaked at number 1 on CP billboard top 100. Angie has sell over 1 million albums all over the world. "I'm so happy that I'm finally popular in music!" Angie said happily. The song Need U Back peaked at number 5 on iceTunes and earned a double platnitum certification by the RIAAC being one of her most popular songs.

According to Angie, she says that she wanted a new fresh concept. She didn't want to be on the album cover but she appears in a couple of cover singles, she alreadt repeated that she'll stick to it during the superstar period. She wanted a cool and pretty cover.

Singles[edit]

Originally there was going to be 15 singles and 5 bonus tracks on iceTunes. Instead, Angie says that she'll be releasing 5 bonus tracks in her next album. Originally, there were 15 planned singles for Superstar. At the press conference for the last single "Ur so hot", it was stated that there were only 20 singles at the end.

The first single "Superstar" was a universal hit. The second single "'Need U Back'" had a bigger reception, Need U Back got 5340990 units sold, making it a 4× Platinum single by the RIAAC.

The eighteenth single '"Soft Side"' was the least selling single, but still managed to get a Golden certification. The third single Chit Chat peaked at #1 in the South Pole billboard top 100, followed by a previously mentioned single from Angie: Need U Back. In the official Club Penguin charts, it peaked #3. In the US billboard top 100, it peaked at #4. The sixth single "Chit chat" was the second most selling single from Angie, after "Need U Back". It sold 4210770 units. The twentieth and final single from the album, "Ur so hot", didn't get many interest from the media and fans. Still, it managed to get a Golden certification.

Overall, critics enjoyed the singles spawned from Superstar.

Critical Response[edit]

There was lots of reviews, the best ones are from the "Penguins Right Now" magazine, it gave a rating of 9.7/100. The male reporter said, "I never seen such a fresh, new album for a formerly underrated singer, Angie Hills is officially called the pop princess." There was also bad reviews, the worst one is from Mabel, "Worst. Album. EVER! This is sooooooo @#$%*(& boring!" and gave a rating of 1/100. Angie Hills answered, "Aw gee, watch your darn language Mabel and you know her, very mean as Becky!"
