"Superstar" is the debut single by South Pole City born singer, Angie Hills. It is also the first single from her first studio album, "Superstar". It was released on August 11 2013 worldwide. Instead of releasing on a Friday, it released late-week on Sunday. It is mainly an cover song from Penguin High 2, but Angie Hills made a deal with Disney whcih why it was released at the end of the week. The song had great success.

Background[edit]
The song was the first track to be written and produced off "Superstar" in July 2012. She wrote three quarters of it herself, with help from her other best friend, Cadence. She had produced it herself too in the same month, and they kept it for her album. This song was inspired when Angie was in high school she noticed a lot of bullying, as stated by Meaghan. It is also inspired by Angie's mother's life motto. Angie stated: "When I noticed the bullying in my high school, I waddle to my igloo and write my feelings about it. A few years later, I used this poem to use it as a song and my mom's life motto when she was a teen." She then announced her album in early August 2013 on an commercial on Pengtube. During that time, more tracks were produced and written. One minute of the song was leaked in August 2012, but the source became confidential on the Internet and wasn't spread. The song was announced in July 2013 and then uploaded to Angie Hillss' official PengTube channel on August 11 2013. It got over 6 thousand views on the same day and when it was August 12 2013 it had over 1 million views. In an interview, Angie Hills stated she was thinking about putting a music video and also stated she first wasn't thinking about it because it was the first single, but in the end she uploaded the music video of Superstar and 24 hours later, it was the second video on Pengtube to have 1 million views.
Angie Hills has performed this song several times, mostly of the times she dances and plays her red electric guitar. At "The Superstar Tour", she dressed up as a nerd and then she magically changed into a rockstar outfit with her guitar, the setting was changed from a school to a rock concert stage.
Critical reception[edit]
Liam Volum of "Penguins Right Now" gave the song a very positive review:
I've got to say, it's a totally fresh start for Angie Hills. I've heard about her before - I've seen all of her performances on the CP Factor. She can sing, dance, play many instruments - it's perfect, right? I heard about this song before the Summer Jam and I really thought about it. Could this song be a hit? Can Angie Hills gain fame for this song? It was then uploaded to PengTube, and I was stunned. It was the best anti-bullying song ever. First off, its not only a cover song but its way better than the original one in Penguin High 2.
It's a very nice track. I recommend you to buy it now if you can.
Chart performance[edit]
The song charted at number 1 in South Pole City on August 15 2013 and remained number 1 for five weeks. It was in the Top 40 for 35 weeks, and in the Top 100 for 70 weeks. On the same day, it charted number 1 in Club Penguin and remained number 1 for three weeks. It remained in the Top 40 for 50 weeks. On August 19 2013 it charted number 5 in UnitedTerra and stayed their for two weeks, number 1 in the USA, number 1 in Freezeland, number 3 in Antarctica, number 5 in Puffle'and and number 3 in Dorkugal. It stayed in the Top 40 for more than 30 weeks in all charts.

Music video[edit]
This video was directed and filmed by Cadence, it was released on August 15 2013 with over 1 million views. The video starts with Angie Hills being a nerd and being laughed at. Then, she goes to a mysterious closet. She threw her glasses in the trash can, took out her pigtails, takes off her skirt, shirt and shoes. After the first verse was sung, she comes out in a flashy appearance with a t-shirt, vest, shorts, makeup and her guitar. At the near end of the song, Becky Nivaj almost pushes Angie in the school gardens but she stood tough and kept on performing not caring about what other penguins think of her.
