Important Information

Regarding Entering information:

• Electron Configurations:
  • Elements in groups 1 and 2 that are in GROUND STATE end in an s subshell.
  • Elements in groups 13 through 18 that are in GROUND STATE end in a p subshell. They can only occur after the 2s subshell has been filled
  • Elements in groups 3 through 12 that are in GROUND STATE end in a d subshell. They can only occur after the 3p subshell has been filled
  • Elements that are located separate from the main table (The Lanthanides and Actinides) that are in GROUND STATE end in a f subshell. They can only occur after the 5d subshell is filled.
  • There is a g subshell, but let's avoid that for now, since it is theoretical and really complicated.
  • The maximum electron capacity for each subshell: s=2, p=6, d=10, f=14
  • Electron Configuration is mostly standard for all elements, however, elements such as Gold, Silver, and Copper, are exceptions.

• Units:
  • Kelvin's increments are pegged with Celcius. To find Kelvin, just take your Celcius temperature and add 273. Note: Nothing can go below 0 Kelvin. It's impossible.
