The Polarian State of Yow is an island that is the largest populated overseas territory of the Federal Republic of Polaris. It was created in 2013 after the USA and Polaris invaded the Yow Kingdom after a Yowien General's attempt to massacre penguins at the South Pole City Council and high amounts of national debt. After invasion, the USA ceded it to Polaris, who in turn indoctorinized the island into Polarian Rule.

History[edit]

Formation[edit]

Polarian pullout of 2014[edit]

During Polarian rule of the island since 2013, there had been a burgeoning effort to rid of the Polarian administration and supplant it with a domestically founded one. There has been several coup d'état attempts in 2013, resulting in the deaths of 7 Polarian diplomats in the process. Economically speaking, there existed no substantial economic benefits both for Yowiens and Polarians. As a result of the lack of natural resources that Polarian industries were familiar with, especially oil, Polarian corporations were not able to take advantage of much resources of Yow, and reportedly lost $1.25 billion whilst searching for these resources. As for the debt, top Polarian economists suggested that economic development of the islands were to allow Yow to pay off its massive debt by 2014, however; only 11.5% of the debt had been paid off by late 2013. This, and other mitigating factors led to the Yow Revolutions, in which mass protests were held against the ruling Polarian regime in Golden City. Within its own borders, many Polarian citizens remained staunchly opposed to the administration of Yow, seeing the lack of personal connections and development in the state. In an interview with CBN News in Jan. 2014, President Nathaniel Kratz stated: "Only publicly had I been in support of the invasion and subsequent occupation of Yow. Top military advisers early on, back in March of 2013 advised me that the Polarian military would only have a brief mandate in Yow, and frankly it disappoints me that I hadn't been told the truth. It was merely a scheme by fmr. Gen. Carrington for his own political gain. I fully support the immediate draw out of troops from Yow, to ensure that we aren't hindering the progress and well being of such a great nation." Through the approval of Executive Order 129, the Executive Administrative Council had ordered the evacuation and removal of all Polarian troops, administrative and diplomatic non-essential staff from Yow immediately on January 11, 2014. On January 12, cargo planes began to continuously depart from King Alexander Intl. Airport in Golden City and Nilo Airport carrying military personnel and equipment in addition to some civilians and diplomats. This would be a process that would continue for another three days.

Geography[edit]

Culture[edit]

After the invasion and annexation, the Castillan and Lisboagese populations of Yow quickly left for their home countries, in fear of being persecuted by the USA and Castillan occupying soldiers. The Alemanians and Snoss also returned their homelands, since some of them had been involved in the SSS and the Snoss Army. Hence, the island became dominated by mainly Puffish, Freezelandians, Caladians, Mainland Polarians, and Antarcticans, who rebuilt the Yowien cities with the flair of their homelands.

Cuisine[edit]

The island's cuisine has been mainly influenced by the mainland. Generally speaking, Polarian Yowiens enjoy eating fish based foods with potatoes and vegetables, but in particular, their cuisine has been influenced by the new wave of immigrants that came after the invasion. The Puffish helped introduce the Shepherd's Pie and Fish and chips, while the Antarcticans introduced grilled fish and fish dogs, and the Freezelandians introduced corned fish and various types of stews. Occasionally, some other exotic dishes have made it into Yowien cuisine, including the legendary Hummus, which was introduced by a Snowpriot cafe owner. Nevertheless, they also take advantage of the island's natural resources by also eating the tropical fruit and using the tropical fruit and mint in many different kinds of milkshakes and smoothies. Coffee is a preferred drink instead of tea, and some like to have Iced Coffee in the afternoons.

Politics[edit]

Currently, as of November 2013, Yow and F Island are under martial law. Following the Treaty of Millsburg, Major-General Gerald Carrington was appointed Supreme Commander of the Occupying Forces of Yow, and promoted to lieutenant-general. Carrington will be restored to major-general on October 8, 2014. Yow Kingdom Island and F Island are divided into a total of 5 military districts, each with a major-general. There are four on Yow Kingdom Island and one on F Island.

Here's a list of each district:

District 1: Run by Major-General Termilian. Headquartered in Golden City, which is also the headquarters of II Corps, the Polarian unit occupying Yow.

District 2: Run by Major General Farrange. Headquartered in Linox.
